php version 4.4 / ez publish
Hi list, is there any repository on this world where I can stick to and update to a stable and hopefully secure and hopefully long supported version 4.4 of php? EZ publish's software requirements as of the current version tells me that it requires php 4.4 which doesn't meet what Centos 4.4 or its upstream provides. For a certain project I want to use ez publish. Is there any solution

shut down a Centos 6 guest / libvirt / ACPI
Hi, shutting down a Centos6 kvm guest does not work from outside doing a 'virsh shutdown vmguest', I've installed the CentOS-6.2-x86_64-minimal.iso inside the kvm guest I reckon this is related to acpi ... # dmesg | grep ACPI ACPI Error: A valid RSDP was not found (20090903/tbxfroot-219) ACPI: Interpreter disabled. pnp: PnP ACPI: disabled acpiphp: ACPI Hot Plug PCI Controller Driver

Centos 5.2 install problem
Hi, I'm trying a fresh install on a x86_64 (Supermicro X7dbe, 2xIntel Xeon X5450, 8 GB, 3WARE 9650SE-8LPML, 3 disks in RAID 5). The format takes quite long (2,7 TB), that seems to be normal, but then the first boot will not take place, instead the system loops. Any hints? The message follows: Regards Michael Mounting root filesystem. mount: could not find filesystem '/dev/root'

centos 4.7 / kvm
Hello, I'm trying to install centos-4.7 under kvm (for legacy reasons). I can't get the beast installed, it crashes (see output below). I'm using: qemu 0.9.1 kvm-72 libvirt-0.4.6 kernel 2.6.26 What can I do in order to get the installation being done? The host is a x86_64 machine (debian5). BTW, the installation for centos-5.2 works like a charm with the above configuration. TIA

php-4.4 rpm
Hi, has somebody already succeeded in creating a php-4.4 rpm under centos-4.4? php version 4.3.9 compiles perfectly, but taking the 4.3.9 spec and replacing the source tar.gz (and omitting the patches) doesn't work at all. I could provide you with details about compile errors, but I think I should check the availability of a 4.4 package before trashing you with details. TIA Regards

xfs on 5.2 (live cd + dvd)
Hello, I'm planning a server migration and being able to mount xfs file systems with the live cd would be a cruical feature. So before I download and try ... can anyone tell me whether the xfs is included in the 5.2 live cd? Later on I'm planning to install a new system with xen, 3ware 9550SX-4LP and xfs. The xen domains are of course located on xfs partitions. Do these features come

Disconnects with proxies
Hi, I know I shouldn't ask stuff like this when using dovecot-0.99.11-4.EL4 (CentOS-4.4), but why I'm asking this is whether it's worth to switch from rpm based upstream dovecot to a self compiled one or not and thus I think you wouldn't kill me presenting you this question. o:-) I've got a problem with dovecot regarding a pop3 proxy issue. When I configure my dovecot server

hosting panel
Hi there, what's your favorite (OS) hosting panel for centos5 ? What's most interesting for me is the usability by others i.e. users who don't know the tool very much, so it has to be very simple. Second is of course security. Greetings & TIA Michael -- Michael Kress, kress at hal.saar.de http://www.michael-kress.de / http://kress.net P E N G U I N S A R E C O O L

concat mount
Hi, I've got a buffalo 1TB DriveStation run in RAID 1 mode, i.e. 500G space available, but that beast is preformatted in vfat. Buffalo doesn't recommend to run it as ext2/ext3, so I mount a vfat drive wich has the limitations "no symlinks, no uids, no gids, etc.". As I just want to use the DriveStation as a backup target, I did the following: I created files of 4G size with

migration considerations

The xenUs are installed in LVs which are formatted as xfs. Now I'd like to move over to centos 5.0 This is what I thought to be good as an upgrade procedure: 1) install a xen0 to a

x84_64 distro: Really worth it ?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I have so far avoided using the x86_64 distro, sticking to 32 bits on all my servers. My question for all using the 64bits distro is: is it really worth it ? What kind of applications are you running, and what kind of _real_ gain did you have ?
