Strange thing just began happening this past weekend with my Centos-7 netbook (using the MATE desktop, which may mean it's an EPEL problem...). the lock screen checkbox in the screensaver's UI is NOT checked. I've even used the dconf editor to uncheck ALL the boxes in the screensaver section that relate to locking the screen. nada. no such luck. even after rebooting, it still locks

Around last weekend, the updated package, gnome-screensaver-2.16.1-8.el5_5.1, came in replacing gnome-screensaver-2.16.1-8.el5. Once our CentOS 5.5 machines are running the new gnome-screensaver, we start seeing problem in unlocking the Gnome screensaver with Kerberos authentication. Unlocking the screensaver with local password works fine. After we back out from the new version, Kerberos

People "usually" suspend their laptop, so that they can continue their work when they open the laptop. OK! Two choices [GNOME]: 1 - Menu -&gt; Shut Down -&gt; Suspend in this case, the gnome-screensaver locks the PC. but the gnome-screensaver is just a "normal process", and it could be killed e.g.:
