Counting elements in 2 rows of a matrix
Dear R-users:
Sorry to bother so late with this question, which surely has simple answer.
I'm working with matrices that contain either "1" or "0", for example:
[,1] [,2] [,3] [,4] [,5]
A 1 0 1 0 0
B 0 1 0 1 0
C 1 0 1 0 0
D 1 1 1 0 1
I want to count the number of "1" common to, say, A and B, the

Problem installing packages
Dear R-experts,
I'm a new R user and so far have no complains about ir. However I
still can't figure out how to install packages. I'm running the R 1.5.0
(Carbon) under OS X. I just downloaded some packages from CRAN (Tree,
among them) and moved them to the library folder in R. When the R session
started, I was expecting that using the command library(tree) would do it,
but

Ideas for Rails Shirt Graphics
I''ve had a couple ideas for Ruby on Rails shirt graphics for a little
while now:
1. "Fuck You" superimposed over, oh, probably a Ruby gem. Or Rails of
some sort.
2. "Ruby on Rails" superimposed over rails of cocaine. Maybe also with a
graphic of a crazed looking coder.
Anybody got graphics? Or can make them? Heh!

[LLVMdev] Google Summer of Code 2008
Hello, Everyone
LLVM recently was approved to take part in Google Summer of Code 2008.
We welcome everyone to apply for this program.
The list of ideas for (possible) projects is located at
http://llvm.org/OpenProjects.html. Surely you can suggest any other
project, if you feel, that it definitely can be useful.
Our common requirement for student is to submit proposal to LLVM

Where to put External Nodes in Multiple Environments?
All,
For those that are using external nodes (as local files) and multiple
environments, where do you put the external node files?
Ie, do you put them down in the environment itself
/etc/puppet/env/env1/manifests/extdata/nodes
/etc/puppet/env/env.../manifests/extdata/nodes
/etc/puppet/env/envN/manifests/extdata/nodes
OR, up above the environments?
/etc/puppet/manifests/extdata/nodes

[LLVMdev] glibc to LLVM port
Hi guys,
on the webpages of your project i have found, that you are
trying to port glibc to LLVM (sounds interesting). I am student of Faculty
of Informatics in Brno, and currently i am trying to search a theme for my
diploma thesis. Do you think that this one could have the scope to
cover (serve) as the diploma work.
Thanks

2 questions about cluster analysis
Hello everyone!
I have two questions regarding cluster analysis with the package 'cluster'
:
1. I have a dissimilarity matrix in csv format, and I would like to use
it to generate a dendogram using 'hclust'. How do I make that matrix
compatible with the function? I think it has to be similar to the objects
generated by the 'dist' function. Any ideas?
2. Does

centos-announce list?
Any chance we can set up a low-volume "centos-announce" list so that we
all don't have to read all of these non-Centos-specific E-mail threads
about people figuring out how to admin a Linux box when all we need to
know is when major releases/milestones/news items are available?

Ruby at O''Reilly Rough Cuts
Not sure if this is old news or not, but it would appear that both the
Ruby Cookbook and a Rails book are now available for purchase at
O''Reilly Rough Cuts (something akin to PragProg''s beta book program):
http://rubyurl.com/nHz
http://my.safaribooksonline.com/?mode=roughcuts&srchtext=ROUGHCUTS
I haven''t tried them yet, but it definitely seems worth checking out.

Advanced Format Technology
While researching another issue unrelated to Syslinux, I found some
mildly disturbing news that affects Syslinux. As HPA stated back on
2009-06-04, hard drive manufacturers are pushing towards a 4096B
(4kiB; 4k) native sector size. They're calling it "Advanced Format
Technology". It appears that WD (Western Digital; WDC) is the first
with some products being released back in

Help on setting up a samba domain controller
My current samba domain controller is running ClearOS. But I am
migrating to ARM servers (cubieboards) and using RedSleeve for now, and
Centos7arm when that gets rolling. The driver is power savings; my ROI
just on power is ~15months.
So I only run an NT style Domain Controller with XP clients and roaming
user profiles. It works, as there are only a few systems here are
really just my
