Kernel ELsmp vs EL
Hi all, I'm not very used to CentOS and Linux generally speaking, though I read a lot and 'man' quickly became a very good friend of mine, right after Google, so sorry if that's a ridiculous one! (at least it'll give you a good laugh!) I updated the kernel to 2.6.9-42.0.2 recently and that raised a question... Simple... Yet silly...! What exactly is the difference between

[LLVMdev] fmac generation for cortex-a9
Hi Renato, It's definitively not A15. Can this be the case that NEON units for cortex-A9 support it but isn't documented/recommended ? And as mentioned before code is working ! [LLVMdev] llc support for ARM predication ?
Hi James, Thanks for the answer, can you elaborate on difference between thumb, thumb2, ARM, thumbv7. I'm a bit lost right now. When specifying thumbv7 llc will generate thumb only code, not thumb2 ? [LLVMdev] llc support for ARM predication ?
Hi James, Thanks for the answer, for Cortex-A9 would you recommend to generate thumb2 code or ARM code ? What would be the best performance wise ? [Fwd: [networking-discuss] code-review: fine-grained privileges for datalink administration]
Crossbow team, The following is of interest to the Crossbow project. Since a large chunk of these changes also exist in the Crossbow gate, the delivery of this wad will result in fewer lines of changes for Crossbow''s delivery. If someone on Crossbow could participate in this review, that would be a bonus (Eric Cheng made original changes in the Crossbow gate at some point last year).

[LLVMdev] fmac generation for cortex-a9
Hi Bastien, Weird gcc is generating fma for my platform STEricsson Novathor with Linaro, code works. It also works when I use LLVM to generate fma (using llc -mtriple=armv7-eabi). Maybe someone from ARM can answer the question ? [LLVMdev] Debug information for outlined routine
Hi all, I would like to know how can I express debug information for an outlined function using llvm debug metadata. I mean I have a function f() and part of its code is outlined in a new function g() . I would like to generate llvm debug metadata so that when stepping in g() the debugger step in original sources lines from f() routine ? Thanks for your help Seb

[LLVMdev] fmac generation for cortex-a9
Hi Anitha, Thanks for your answer but -mcpu=cortex-a9 -mattr=+vfp4 doesn' t enable fused mac generation for me. I would like just to understand why -mtriple=armv7-eabi enables it while -mcpu=cortex-a9 seems to disable it ? [LLVMdev] llc support for ARM predication ?
Hi Seb, The ARM instruction set is a fixed-width 32-bit instruction set that has been around since the early days of ARM. Modern (armv4t onwards) cores mostly have another instruction set that can be used in tandem, the "thumb" instruction set. This is a variable width (16 or 32 bit) instruction set that provides a subset of the ARM instruction set and was intended to provide the

[LLVMdev] fmac generation for cortex-a9
Hi Sebastien, ARMv7-M has VFMA and LLVM's "triple" is far from perfect. Wikipedia tells me NovaThor can also be A15, or STE could have cramped a VFPv4 in it? ;) Or possibly, your code never branches into the VFMA. Many things could be happening, but usually, VFMA shouldn't be generated for A9. A GCC bug, maybe? On 9 November 2012 16:51, Sebastien DELDON-GNB

Factor levels
Dear R-users, I have found this not-so-recent post in the archives - http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/devel/00a/0291.html - while I was looking for a particular way to reorder factor levels. The question addressed by the author was to know if the read.table function could be modified to order the levels of newly created factors "according to the order that they appear in the data

[LLVMdev] datalayout optimization question
Hi all, We are developing our own compiler front-end and use LLVM as back-end. We generate .ll files and use opt/llc to generate target specific code. When I generate datalayout information in my .ll file it seems that it enables more optimization from LLVM opt. How can I determine which optimization are driven by datalayout information generation ? In other words, when I don't generate

[LLVMdev] RE : Is there any llvm neon intrinsic that maps to vmla.f32 instruction ?
Hi Lang & Renato, I eventually set up a panda board with latest linaro delivery (eabi-hf). I did some experiments using my own compiler and LLVM 3.2 as back-end. I use same flagset for my compiler (front-end) and just invoke llc with and without vmlx-forwarding attribute. So base arguments to llc are: llc -march=arm -mcpu=cortex-a9 -mattr=+neon -float-abi=hard to which I added

[LLVMdev] RE : Vector argument passing abi for ARM ?
Hi Duncan, I also thought it was a bug, especially since it worked with LLVM 3.0, but since it is not defined by ABI, I was not sure if I need to submit it as a BUG. I wanted to be sure that it is an actual BUG before submitting it and got the not-a-bug answer. Here is a small example to reproduce the problem I'm experiencing: ; ModuleID = 'bugparam.ll' target datalayout =
