timezone issue
hey list!
having a slightly odd time issue on one host... can I get some help with this?
This is the current time from a working system:
Sun Apr 17 00:28:18 EDT 2011
However from the problem system this is the time:
Sat Apr 16 20:30:01 EDT 2011
I have set the time zone as such:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 23 Apr 16 19:41 /etc/localtime -> /usr/share/zoneinfo/EST
But when I run ntpdate

tzdata - extra info.
Sorry for the extra info required, but I had digest mode turned on and
wouldn't have received the mailing till tomorrow.
I have since updated the data manually, but after 'yum update tzdata' was
run, the zdump -v for EST5EDT and America/New_York all still showed a date
of April 1, instead of March 11. After manually fixing, it is correct.
This was mostly a question about why yum

Where is timezone string stored?
I am having problems with RoundCube:
'Your session is invalid or expired'
So I went looking for logs and in /var/log/roundcube/errors I find LOTS
of warnings about problems with my timezone. Kind of a challenge to
copy the log entries over here (will do if needed).
Anyway, for right now I am looking as to where my 'Detroit

Timezone warnings on package install in R-alpha
Dear all,
As of the current R alpha release, I'm seeing timezone-related warnings on
installing any package (including the recommended ones), which I haven't
seen before. For example,
[~/Documents/Source/R-alpha]$ bin/R CMD INSTALL ~/git/tractor/lib/reportr
* installing to library '/Users/jon/Documents/Source/R-alpha/library'
* installing *source* package 'reportr' ...

From POSIXct to numeric and back with time zone
From POSIXct to numeric and back with time zone
I am running regressions on data which has time series with different time resolution. Some data has hourly resolution, while most has either daily or weekly resolution. Aggregation is used to make the hourly data daily, while liner interpolation is used to find daily data from the weekly time series. This data manipulation requires some careful

Indiana timezone changing
I have a couple questions... I am in Indiana and our time zone is changing.
I used to choose America/Indiana/Indianapolis as the zone and we are
changing
to Eastern.
Question 1) Is there a command line only way to change my timezone?
I dont have access to X to run system-config-time. Doing a
"system-config-time --help"
or "system-config-time -h" did not give any information.

Problem with GMT+/- time zones
I'm struggling with time zone version when expressed as hours offset from GMT. Can anyone confirm that the behaviour below is incorrect? It seems that the GMT offsets are backwards:
> format(as.POSIXct("2011-05-23 17:23:00", tz="Europe/London"),tz="America/New_York",usetz=T)
[1] "2011-05-23 12:23:00 EDT"
- this works.

Can't get off Europe/Bucharest timezone
Hello Everyone,
The timezone is set correctly on the OS America/Toronto:
mv /etc/localtime /etc/localtime.bak
cp /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Toronto /etc/localtime
I even tried adding the timezone setting to sip.conf:
timezone=America/Toronto
However. Asterisk wants to be in Bucharest? Thinking
about it, I want to be in Bucharest!
Cheers,
Nick.

Asterisk-MySQL: Not loading voicemail config from MySQL
Folks,
I'm trying to get Asterisk to load my voicemail
configuration from MySQL. I've followed the
instructions at:
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+voicemail+database
I restarted Asterisk, but no luck: the voicemail.conf
does not get updated. I started with a sample
voicemail.conf that I found on the Wiki. Or was it
from Voicepulse? I can't remember. For initial
testing, I

Time zones
I am analysing some data collected over a number of months from Allentown,
PA, which is just north of Philadelphia. I am using as.POSIXct for dates
and times, and I need to get the timezone specification correct.
Going on the documentation for DateTimeClasses, I believe one way to
specify the correct time zone is
tz="EST5EDT"
I would be grateful for any advice on this. I ask

Timezone conversion on Ubuntu 20.04
Hi all,
I am testing R 4.0 and ran into an issue with timezones on Ubuntu
Focal: converting a timestamp to another timezone results in NA:
as.POSIXct(as.POSIXlt(Sys.time(), tz = "CET"), tz = "EST")
This only happens on Ubuntu Focal, it seems to work fine on Ubuntu
Bionic. I am the standard ubuntu docker image icw/ r-base from Dirk's
ppa:edd/r-4.0 on both systems.

Help with libiconv problem
A couple of my colleagues are having problems building R-3.2.4 on Mac OS
X El Capitan somehow related to libiconv. I personally don't have any
problems on either of my Macs. I'm hoping thie make log might trigger
something in the readers of this list:
gcc -dynamiclib -Wl,-headerpad_max_install_names -undefined

Apologies for being late to the party with this...
I finally found my old notes on this re: helping out a blind friend fix his
centos box...

cd /usr/share/timezone
cd /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/
cp Los_Angeles /etc/localtime

Fwd: [musl] strptime() question
There is incompatibility between R strptime and musl libc. I posted
about it on their mailing list, but they need more information I can't
provide, so I'm forwarding the message here in hope R developers can
help. Thanks.
