2 dimensional interpolation from matlab to R
Hi everybody.
i have 2 datasets : one with a long grid a lat grid and a bathymetry grid
the second one only has the long and lat coordinates.
So i want to know the bathymetry associated to the second dataset. I thought it was a good idea to do an interpolation between the two datasets. I find a script doing that on matlab but i want to do it on R. Do you how to do it?

akima interpolation and triangulation question
Dear all;
First of all, this is probably a more conceptual question than a
R-related one, but still want to give it a try. When working with the
interpolation function "interp" from the package akima and the
triangulation function "tri.mesh" from package tripack I've got NA's
for the interpolation and "error" for the triangulation. The data is
arranged in a

simulating outcomes - categorical distribution (?)
Hi,
I am simulating an event that has 15 possible outcomes and I have a
vector 'pout' that gives me the probability of each outcome -
different outcomes have different probabilities. Does anyone know a
simple way of simulating the outcome of my event?
If my event had only two possible outcomes (0/1) I would pick a
uniform random number between 0 and 1 and use it to choose between the
two

graphics device updating (PR#1189)
Hi
problem:
plot(xxx)
results in the graphics device window adding the axes values for what ever xxx is but failing to actually add lines or produce the plot until the consol window is activated and moved over the graphics window. The graphics window then shows what has been plotted.
This started happening 4 days ago, up until that time plot(xxx) would produce the plot on the graphics device

I am getting the following erro rmessage in ordistep. I have a number of
similarly structured datasets using ordistep in a loop, and the message
only occurs for some of the datasets.
I cannot include a reproducible sample - the specific datasets where this

the formula.

R logistic regression - comparison with SPSS
Dear R-list members,
I have been a user of SPSS for a few years and quite new to R. I read

Hi ,
I have two sorted vectors X and Xi, where the range of Xi lies within the
range of X.
For an element in Xi, I want to find the neigbouring data in X, e.g. find an

Slow performance with many 3D games
Lots of 3D games such as Team Fortress 2, Audiosurf or Stalker have very low performance in comparison to running on the same computer on Windows. What can I do to improve it? What developers have still to implement to fully support 3D rendering?

image function with date-time on X axis
I am trying to plot a image where the x axis has the units of time.
When I issue the
image(x,y,z) command with x as a POSIXct object, it fails to put a
time stamp on the
x axis.
Instead I get a warning "Incompatible methods" warning and no dates on
my x axis.
This example shows my problem:

Off-topic: (Simple?) Random Sampling when n is a random variable
Hi everyone,
I'm involved in a discussion with a colleague. He suggested a sample
design for a finite-sized process that (to all intents and purposes)
involves tossing a coin and examining the unit if the coin shows
Heads.
I should emphasize that we're both approaching the problem from a
design-based sampling theory point of view. So I have no argument
about the appropriateness of the

Different LLRs on multinomial logit models in R and SPSS
Hello, after calculating a multinomial logit regression on my data, I
compared the output to an output retrieved with SPSS 18 (Mac). The
coefficients appear to be the same, but the logLik (and therefore fit)
values differ widely. Why?
The regression in R:
set.seed(1234)
df <- data.frame(
"y"=factor(sample(LETTERS[1:3], 143, repl=T, prob=c(4, 1, 10))),
"a"=sample(1:5,

JSpeex help
I am not sure if this is right place to ask for help on jspeex or can some one suggest. I have tried on jspeex sourceforge.net page.
I am trying to use Pcm2SpeexAudioInputStream by creating it from tdl which received pcm_signed audio data as follows:
AudioFormat format = new AudioFormat (AudioFormat.Encoding.PCM_SIGNED, 8000, 16, 1, 2, 8000, true);

Bivariate interpolation
Hello,
Is there any other bivariate pointwise interpolation command besides akima's
interpp? I tried to search through the J. Baron's page without luck.
The problem is that I have got regularly spaced data (in x and y) what is
not acceptable for interpp.
I am not very much interested in the method of interpolation as the data are
dense and the error would not be to high.
Thanks in

bivariate interpolation
Hi. I'm trying to take a data set with two independent and one dependent
variable and enter a x,y value to predict the dependent with a nonparametric
technique. I've been using interpp in the akima package, (windows xp, R
2.4.1), but get values that are orders of magnitude off when the predictors
are slightly out of the range of the data set. Can you recommend a function
for me?
