R 2.13.1 can't find package binaries on R-Forge
[Env: Win XP]
I've just upgraded from R 2.12.2 to R 2.13.1. As part of my upgrade
process, I typically install some in-development
packages from R-Forge that are not on cran. But for the first time, it
doesn't work.

Gauss-Laguerre using statmod
I believe this may be more related to analysis than it is to R, per se.
Suppose I have the following function that I wish to integrate:
ff <- function(x) pnorm((x - m)/sigma) * dnorm(x, observed, sigma)
Then, given the parameters:
mu <- 300
sigma <- 50
m <- 250
target <- 200
sigma_i <- 50
I can use the function integrate as:
> integrate(ff, lower= -Inf, upper=target)

R vs SAS and Revolution R
Hello
How do you compare R to SAS in terms of speed and management of large
datasets?
What about Revolution R?
I've seen on their site, they claim that Revolution R is much faster than R
and it's multithread...
Can you really notice the difference?. What dissadvantage does it have?
I think it's based on R 2.10. but R already issued the version 2.12

issue with update.packages()
Hello,
I see the following issue in R-devel since 'both' has become the default pkgType for binary platforms.
update.packages() fails when you set options(repos). Looks like it is trying to download a tgz file from the src/contrib section of a repository (on a mac).
To reproduce this you need to have an older version of AnnotationDbi installed, which I accomplished by faking it,

depending on orphaned packages?
Ah, I spoke too soon. I started putting the demo code into a test suite and ran one check with valgrind and ? sure enough ? there's def more issues (a cpl functions) than the overt/easy ones (and, I went back to the check results page and, also sure enough, they're there, too). They look to be fairly straightforward to resolve but it's going to take a bit longer than "this

depending on orphaned packages?
SuppDists is orphaned on CRAN (and has been since 2013).

Oddly, the simulate method for the inverse.gaussian family
[inverse.gaussian()$simulate] depends (in a loose sense) on SuppDists
(it fails if the SuppDists namespace is not available:
if (!requireNamespace("SuppDists", quietly = TRUE))
