Slow network to samba machine
Sirs, Thank you for any time that you take to read about my problem. I have a Linux (redhat) 8.0 mail server set up with; qmail dhcp / dns transparent proxy to internet - adsl HTML & our web pages (nothing special) SAMBA This problem has been with me since RedHat 7.3 and thir packaged samba. If I transfer a file from the mail (linux box) box to a win98se box it takes a

WINEDEBUG for a non-descript segfault
Hi, I'm loooking at a Linux program that calls WIne and then segfaults without any real information. Are there any debug channels that make most sense to try and trap in this specific case? Thanks, Mark

Merge matrices with different column names
A general question that I have been pursuing for some time but have set aside. When finishing some analysis, I can have multiple matrices that have specific column names. Ideally, I would like to combine these separate matrices for a final output as a csv file. A generic example: Matrix 1 var1A var1B var1C x x x x x

reshape package does not recognize second id variable
I am trying to use the reshape package for the first time. I have two waves of a survey, so the id variables include a subject identification number and a variable denoting the wave of the survey. I used the following arguments: library(reshape) svy.melt <- melt(svy, id=c("id", "WAVE")) svy.wide <- cast(svy.melt, id ~ WAVE + ...) and got the following error:

Controlling the vorbis encoder precisely
Hello, currently I'm working on a vorbis based encoder that adds multiple single wave sounds into one vorbis stream (and put every sound in one or more ogg pages). During the process an index is written in an extra file so later you can locate a sound's position easily by a file position and length value. The problem is the sample-exact separation between those encoded wave sounds: If I

merge function
Hello, I'm clearly confused about the merge function. In the following r <- merge(x,y,all.x=T,all.y=F) my y vector has only unique values (no duplicates). So I don't understand how this can ever generate an r which is of greater length than x. I thought the default behavior was only matching rows are included, but that using all.x=T included rows with unmatched x's as well. If

More information on exception
The following block of code produces an exception. The testnew.ogg file is 10 seconds, containing pure silence encoded using mode E: http://www.cs.mun.ca/~chris3/testnew.ogg Other files and modes can cause the exception, but many files work fine. #include <stdio.h> #include "vorbis/vorbisfile.h" int main() { OggVorbis_File ov, ov2; FILE *f, *f2; f

warning that legacy WAVE file has format type 1 but bits-per-sample is 24
Hello, I've tried encoding a FLAC file from a WAVE file saved with 24-bits-per-sample, using the flac executable. I get this warning: WARNING: legacy WAVE file has format type 1 but bits-per-sample=24 The code is currently here on line 373: src/flac/encode.c where the comment says let these slide with a warning since they're unambiguous I do not really understand the warning

create waveform sawtooth
My tuneR sawtooth wave function generator is broken. When I use the sine function, I get exactly what I expect: a sine wave whose frequency is defined by the freq parameter. In particular, higher frequencies have shorter wavelengths (more cycles per second means shorter waves). When I create a sawtooth wave, the opposite seems to occur: higher frequencies result in longer waves. But that?s not

help with kriging interpolation
All, I am new to using R and know some basics. I wish to use kriging in R to do the following: given data Y =f(X1,X2,X3,.....,Xn) --1000+ irregular measured data set. I would like to be able to get a single value y given sinle input set (x1,x2,x3,...xn) A google search on this takes me lierally to the same example on involving analysis with soil sampling and I cannot figure out how to

warning that legacy WAVE file has format type 1 but bits-per-sample is 24
Thank you for writing and pointing out that one can have WAVE files without getting the warning, and that your library does it. I found out Goldwave (Windows software) writes 24-bit WAVE files that do not get the warning. (Good for them!) However, the flac executable from the flac reference software apparently produces WAVE files that do get the warning. Example annotated log: Encode a 24-bit

Vorbis Comments in a WAVE file?
I recently found myself in a situation where WAVE files from one PC were to be stored compressed on a second PC. As the second PC has a much faster CPU it made sense to transfer the WAVE file over the network and encode it on the destination PC. This also needs a mechanism to transfer the metadata (comments). The solution that sprung to mind was to add vorbis comments to the WAVE file. WAVE is

create waveform sawtooth
Ccing the maintainer if the tuneR package. Looks to me like sawtooth (and square) don't behave as expected when using xunit="samples". Workaround is to use xunit="time" instead: sawtooth(110,duration=1/100,samp.rate=sample_rate,xunit="time") I looked at the code but found it to be opaque. -- Sent from my phone. Please excuse my brevity. On November 12, 2017

pulling out 1 country and 1 wave
Hello. I am trying to pull out one country from a time series of 5 waves. For example I need Norway from the 5th wave. This is new to me. Typically, I work with country specific surveys. data = norway I have attached a .tiff of the codebook showing the variable names for Norway and the wave. They appear to be Norway = v218 and wave = v15. But perhaps I am wrong and this is part of the

Re: tick tick tick
Well I've comverted to UDP but still have the tick and it can't be the diff soundcards cause it does it on the same computer. Also the wave out buffer keeps growing as if extra data is comming from somewhere eg: the wave out plays just as fast as the wave in so the wave out buffer should not "grow". -Dragon (dragon@dazoe.net) (www.dazoe.net) Jean-Marc Valin wrote:

problem with outer and image
I want to make a picture of a cos wave grating (pattern of fuzzy stripes). First I try to make a plot of a cos wave: x<-seq(1:100) y<- 10*cos(2*pi*x*3/length(x)+0)+300 plot(x,y) That works fine. 3 cycles of cos wave. Now try for grating. time<-seq(1:100) f<-function(x,time) 10*cos(2*pi*x*3/length(x)+0)+300 z<-outer(x,time,f) image(x,time,z) I get a vertical grating as expected, BUT

swfdex-extract tool extracts mp3 files as wav files.
Hello. I'm running the swfdec-extract tool built from the 0.6.0 source tarball under gentoo and I'm finding that it's not able to rip the MP3s from the SWF file. I'm getting this: SWFDEC: ERROR: swfdec_codec_gst.c(269): swfdec_gst_decoder_init: failed to create decoder It manages to save the file as a WAV file, but I'd prefer the MP3 to get at the ID3 info in the file.
