Extrapolating data points for individuals who lack them
Hi, We have an experiment where individuals responses were measured over 5 days. Some responses were not obtained because we only allowed individuals to respond within a limited time-frame. These individuals are given the maximum response time as they did not respond, yet we feel they may have done if given time (and by looking at the rest of their responses over time, the non-response days stand

Survival analysis with no events in one treatment group
I'm trying to fit a Cox proportional hazards model to some hospital admission data. About 25% of the patients have had at least one admission, and of these, 40% have had two admissions within the 12 month period of the study. Each patients has had one of 4 treatments, and one of the treatment groups has had no admissions for the period. I used:

ROC plot for KNN
Hi I need some help with ploting the ROC for K-nearest neighbors. Since KNN is a non-parametric classification methods, the predicted value will be either 0 or 1. It will not be able to test for different cutoff to plot ROC. What is the package or functions I should use to plot ROC for KNN? Thanks. Qian [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

LMER: How to specify Random Effects
I saw different specifications for Random Effects and I'm confused about the use of "/" and the use of "(0+...|)" . Let say we have a nested structure where some countries have some several plants in different states and we measure the reaction to a drug. The list of Countries = USA, France, Italy The States for USA = Michigan, Florida, California The States for France

Longitudinal study with three treatments
Hi, I am comparing three treatments. The data come from a longitudinal study, and for each treatment I have only 1 case, on which the observations across 20 years are made. My main aim is to compare the three treatments, but the effect of time is of interest as well. Which of the many R functions should I use for that purpose? I applied the aov function and received this:

contr.treatments query
Hi Folks, I'm a bit puzzled by the following (example): N<-factor(sample(c(1,2,3),1000,replace=TRUE)) unique(N) # [1] 3 2 1 # Levels: 1 2 3 So far so good. Now: contrasts(N)<-contr.treatment(3, base=1, contrasts=FALSE) contrasts(N) # 1 2 # 1 1 0 # 2 0 1 # 3 0 0 whereas: contr.treatment(3, base=1, contrasts=FALSE) # 1 2 3 # 1 1 0 0 # 2 0 1 0 # 3 0 0 1 contr.treatment(3, base=1,

I want to compare boxplots of variable 1 with variable 2 for each treatment. I would also like them to all be on the same graphic. I would like treatment to be on the x axis (A and B) and above A and B have their corresponding

summarizing replicates with multiple treatments
I have a dataframe with several different treatment variables, and would like to calculate the mean and standard deviation of the replicates for each day and treatment variable. It seems like it should be easy, but I've only managed to do it for one treatment at a time using subset and tapply. Here is an example dataset: > `exampledata` <- structure(list(day = c(1L, 1L, 1L, 1L, 1L,
