Changepoint analysis--is it possible to attribute changpoints to explanatory variables?
Hello, I would like to evaluate the relationship between flows and phytoplankton abundance (or Chlorophyll a concentrations) using a changepoint analysis.? Specifically, I have two study questions: Study Question 1: Are there certain flow thresholds that result in spikes in phytoplankton abundance? Study Question 2: Are the duration of certain flows important for phytoplankton abundance (e.g.,

Hello Does anyone know how to get the p values for changepoints in the "changepoint" package? There is guidance in the CRAN vignette https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/changepoint/changepoint.pdf but I can't make it work to get the p value out... Thanks Nick Wray [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

add leading 0s to %d from png() {was Automatic creation of file names}
Dear useRs, Is there a way to 'properly' format %d when plotting more than one page on png()? 'Properly' means to me with leading 0s, so that the PNGs become easy to navigate in a file/image browser. Lacking a better solution I ended up using the code below, but would much prefer something like png("test_%d.png",bg="white",width=1000,height=700) where %d

First (well second) CODA hurdle problem
I am having not a little difficulty in using R-CODA version 0.4 with R-Windows 0.64.2. Basically I want to produce some postscript plots from the updates. It seems the WinBugs output is OK for cut-and-paste operations but don't allow much flexibility for anything else. So far, I can produce the .ind and .out files from WinBugs 1.2 and these seem OK (in particular they are text files not

IE opacity and png alpha
The drag&drop effect in scriptaculous makes my div dissapear in IE. I take it this is because I have a filter on the div to get alpha transparency on the pngs, and this is cancelled out by the opacity setting, yet it says this was fixed in scriptaculous. JavaScript for png filtering at bottom. The div becomes visible again (or rather, the images comes back) when dragging is ended. Any

png support in R on linux
Hi there, I am sure this question has been posted a couple times before but I could not find a good solution on the web. Is there any way to get png() support in R on SUSE linux? We want to run GenePattern on that server and some workflows use R scripts plotting into pngs. Best wishes Kristian R version 2.14.0 (2011-10-31) Platform: x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu (64-bit) locale: [1]

changepoint analysis
Hi, all, I'd like to find one or more changepoints in a dataset eg for data like 0.9 1 0.8 0.8 0.85 0.3 0.9 0.9 0.9 1.1 0.3 is unlikely a changepoint but for data like 0.9 1 0.8 0.8 0.85 0.3 0.2 0.2 0.1 0.2 0.3 0.3 is a change point I am wondering is there any function can do changepoint analysis? PDF too large, PNG bad quality
I wish to save a scatter plot comprising approx. 2 million points in order to include it in a LaTeX document. Using 'pdf(...)' produces a file of size about 20 MB, which is useless. Using 'cairo_pdf(...)' produces a smaller file, around 3 MB. This is still too large. Not only that the document will be too large, but also PDF viewers choke on this. Moreover, Cairo has problems

After running the following code, I got parameters of beta0 through beta4 (stats, density), but I don't know how to get the prediction of the last value of h, the variable I set to NA and want to model it using the following code.Does anyone can given me a hint? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Best

Computing ergodic mean with CODA
Hi all, I would like to compute ergodic mean using MCMC output from WinBUGS. I tried using CODA package, but it seems that it is not implemented yet. Could anyone help me to compute this? weird things in seqMK() and sqmk()
Hello The other say I posted a question about altering confidence limits in the seqMK() function in the pheno package. I didn't get any bites but in any case I've been trying to use this function. It seems to me to give very odd results - sometimes identifying 8 or 9 changepoints in a relatively short vector of maybe 40 elements, and at other times not giving any changepoints at all,

WriteXLS error:Error in get(x, envir = envir) : variable names are limited to 256 bytes
Hello all, I don't understand why this won't work. I have entered: WriteXLS(alldata,'test.xls') and I get this error message: Error in get(x, envir = envir) : variable names are limited to 256 bytes. My variable names are not very long, and are accepted by write.csv. alldata is a list containing 4 dataframes, with each dataframe having the the same variable names, which are:

Current state of support for BUGS access for Linux users?
Greetings: I'm going to encourage some students to try Bayesian ideas for hierarchical models. I want to run the WinBUGS and R examples in Tony Lancaster's An Introduction to Modern Bayesian Econometrics. That features MS Windows and "bugs" from R2WinBUGS. Today, I want to ask how people are doing this in Linux? I have found a plethora of possibilities, some of which are not

Confusing lock problem in rails
I have a model class in rails that has a class variable that is a ferret index. For some reason, the methods in my class that refer to the class variable are getting lock conflicts. Can anybody see any obvious reason why? I notice that it keeps leaving a lock file in the index directory. I thought auto_flush was supposed to remove the lock automatically after every operation. Is there

seqMK function
Hello does anyone know how to set the confidence level within the seqMK() function in the pheno package. It seems to be set automatically at 0.05 and there seems to be neither an input function to set a different level, as there are with some changepoint functions, nor an output to give one the p-value of the changepoint identification which you get with functions ie func$p_value etc ... Thanks

R2winBUGS & WinBUGS gui
I am trying to figure out if it is possible to run winBUGS from within R, using R2winBUGS, without having winBUGS spawn any windows (basically - 'true' batch - no GUI actions at all). The reason being I have a machine which I (and several others) ssh/telnet into, and would like to run winBUGS without having to mount a virtual desktop of any kind. I've looked through the r2winBUGS
