reading in mdb and outputting to sql (GIS application)
I have a geodatabase and would like to import it into GRASS, but it is in .mbf. I use mac and linux, and don't have access to access on the machines that I normally use. I do have access to access at school, but I would like to find a way around this if possible. Any thoughts, comments, or suggestions would be welcome. thanks, -- Stephen Sefick Let's not spend our time and resources

PXELINUX and PowerSave Mode ...
We have a lot of diskless Linux clients which are booting via PXELINUX or ETHERBOOT. The problem is that they are on for 24 hours and APM PowerSave mode works for ETHERBOOT only. But in the future we want to use PXELINUX only, which seems to have no features for APM or ACPI PowerSave included. Would it be possible to integrate such features in PXELINUX or is there a way to boot a special image

cv.lm() broken; cross validation vs. predict(interval="prediction")
<< repost because previous attempt was not plain text, sorry! >> Hi Folks, I have a pretty simple problem: after building a multivariate linear model, I need to report my 95% confidence interval for predictions based on future observations. I know that one option is to use predict(interval="prediction") but I'm curious about less parametric ways to get an estimate. I

summary() after changing contrasts
Hi, After running a regression on a factor variable, summary() reports the coefficients 'nicely,' ie, labelled with a string that is a concatenation of the variable name and the factor label. However, changing the base case a la contrasts(variable)<-contr.treatment(N, base=x) results in the coefficients being reported as a less-helpful concatenation of variable name plus a digit. Of

register with outbound proxy from behind nat for freeworlddialup etc.
Hi, I've posted a simular message little over a week ago so sorry for reposting. I need to register to freeworld dial up from behind a nat. Using the xten software sip client works fine but with asterisk I don't know how to do it. Last time I posted I got different responses. Some saying I can't register with an outbound proxy from asterisk others said they have done it. If it is

Optimal Y>=q cutoff after logistic regression
Hi, I understand that dichotimization of the predicted probabilities after logistic regression is philosophically questionable, throwing out information, etc. But I want to do it anyway. I'd like to include as a measure of fit % of observations correctly classified because it's measured in units that non-statisticians can understand more easily than area under the ROC curve, Dxy, etc.

Free World Dialup behind NAT
Hi, after reading about it on the list I decided to set up a Free World Dialup account. For those of you who don't know, that is a sip proxy where you and your friends can singn up free and then you can just connect to it with any sip client and call anybody that is registered for free. Pretty much like iaxtel (I belive that was the name of it) for the iax protocol. It even supports clients

Morrowind sees wine as a debugger and refuses to start.
Thanks to everyone who helped on that one. I managed to install and run Morrowind. I had to play around quite a bit before I succeeded and forgot the exact steps I followed. But here are a few things I remember: - I eventually recreated my fake drive as I was getting weird behaviors. - I had to reinstall dcom98 for the installer to run at all. - I upgraded and used a nocd patch. The game

smbclient sees my shares, but net view on Windows doesnt'
Hi. I've got samba installed on a Sparc Solaris box and I can't seem to connect to it from the Windows machines on my network. I am able to mount the share with smbclient from the Solaris box, and the machines can both ping each, but when I do "net view \\hostname" from the Windows DOS shell I see this: System error 53 has occurred. The network path was not found. Any help

Re: win2k8 guest and (strange) number of cpus task manager sees
Windows has limits on the number of CPUs it can use based on the license level you have (Standard, Enterprise, etc). You need to present the CPUs as two physical CPUs with multiple cores to get around this.
