yam help
I am trying to use yam to create a repo based on the 4.4 CDs. I have
copied the contents of the CDs to /var/dist/CentOS-4.4-i386. No
matter what I try, yam always creates an emtpy repo.
This is my current yam.conf file:
[main]
srcdir = /var/yam
wwwdir = /var/www/yam
arch = i386
[centos]
name = CentOS $release ($arch)
release = 4

Fwd: P5GC SATA mode problem
Hello, I'm top-posting my own thread with some homework I've done, can
somebody help?
In short, the problem is that kernel 2.6.18-53 (as per 5.1
installation) works OK while any kernel update makes booting
impossible in Enhanced SATA mode. For newer kernels, only Compatible
mode works, but at a very heavy cost in performance.
The motherboard is ASUS P5GC-MX and the disk is ATA WDC

Sure /boot/grub/grub.conf still needs editing...

New contributor
Hello,
I've just signed up to offer some of my time to the project as suggested by
Ernesto Celis on CentOS Spanish users' list.
I'd like to help translate the project's wiki pages to Spanish. I'll be
happy to receive some suggestions as to what would be my first assignment.
Cheers to you all and the biggest THANK YOU!

Slow Xen on CentOS 5.2?
Hello,
Should Xen still work on CentOS 5.2 with 1GB RAM? On my Toshiba
Satellite notebook Xen performed reasonably well as of CentOS 5.0.
After I updated the system, Xen takes an unusable startup time. Every
task at boot, since nash is fired, seems to take increasingly longer.
I can't seem to find any references to this problem. Where should I look first?
Thanks in advance

Geany plugins out of sync
I'm intending to do some version control, hence looking for some
plugins. Geany and geany-plugins packages in Rpmforge seem to be out

Dag mirror, yum and repomd.xml!
Hi:
I have a mirror of dag repository
(http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el4/en/i386/dag/) in my intranet which is used
by other servers to install/update rpms. I installed on every remote
server the rpmforge rpm, edit the /etc/yum.repos.d/rpmforge.repo to fit
with my intranet mirror, but when I run yum, I get this error:
#yum -c rpmforge.repo search nagios

Will Intel D101GGCL work?
Hello,
Please. Can the following spec give me some headache with CentOS 4.4?
Where to find out?
I have read former advice on the list about not to mess with Intel PCI

Newsletter 1002, Spanish version
Hello, I have just finished my Spanish translation of the last
Newsletter. As I have no edit rights to the proper zone, I have
written it into my own personal page
http://wiki.centos.org/EduardoGrosclaude. Please some elder member of
the familiy snip it off from there and hang it where it belongs. :)
I have not involved myself in prior proofreading, so this may be a bit
off. May I slip in a small

Simple resource manager?
I need to serialize computing job requests for two different multicore
machines, and in some near future, for a cluster. I have worked with
SGE but it requires NFS and other administrative steps, plus it seems
a bit overkill for my needs. I guess some simpler queue managing
engine may have been developed, possibly over SSH. Any pointers? TIA.

PAPI + perfctr on CentOS 5?
Has anyone succesfully compiled a PAPI+perfctr-enabled kernel? I've
been mixing and matching instructions from the PAPI distribution and
those from CentOS wiki to no avail.

Wikisource of original docs
Hello,
When it comes to translations, it would be useful to have the original
sources. Is there any place for us translators to pick up a copy? We
do not have edit access to originals.

is anybody using DBMail or any other approach to manage huge volume mail

Network card w/special module
Hello, I have this cheap network card which insists on me compiling its own
sundance.ko module every time I update my kernel release. I had the poor
idea to leave nightly yum service enabled on this remote server, only to
find my network was gone at the following reboot. Had to go there, figure
out that kernel stuff is carefully avoided by up2date, but not so by yum
service, and rebuild.

Statistics on stability?
Hello,
I want to compare CentOS to Fedora and other distros on a
stability/network-dependance basis. Where should I look for some published
statistics on updates? I mean probably megabytes per week (or whichever
units, of published updates over time), per distro.
Thank you in advance

Encore/sundance boards?
I have this cheap "ENCORE 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet PCI Adapter" which comes
with its own driver that compiles to 'sundance.ko' and performs bad (30%
packet loss) on a fully updated CentOS 4.4 box. This brand, model and driver
have worked OK for me on some other CentOS installations, none of which are
4.4. Short of replacing the board, which you can bet I will do, can anybody

epel-repository | repomd.xml.asc: [Errno 14] HTTP Error 404
Hi.
I try to install openvpn at my centos 7 server (CentOS Linux release
7.6.1810 (Core)).
According to many tutorials at the internet, I was using
yum install epel-release -y to enable the repo.
When (after installing epel-release) I try to install openvpn using
yum install openvpn -y
I get this error:

Monitoring OpenVPN TUNs with MRTG
I want to check some client OpenVPN TUN interfaces with MRTG running at my
VPN server, so I have to specify their OID interface numbers in mrtg.cfg.
The problem is, these numbers are dynamic, as they may change whenever
OpenVPN restarts for any reason... so, how can I write stanzas such as

<SOMEHOST.IP>

Replacing /etc/redhat-release contents by Nahant signature does the trick?
