segv when Mailbox is in inconsistent state, please relogin.
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, for testing I have different filesystems on various block devices, which I mount on /mnt/mailcache as needed; however, the indexes and caches are located on /var/cache, hence, they get out of sync easily. No offense. Hoever, the web page (http://dovecot.org/bugreport.html) states that every signal 11 is a bug and will be fixed, so here it

Changed CONTROL= path causes POP3 to fail, whereas IMAP is working (rc25 & rc26)
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, I'm testing some configurations, in the process I used a wrong user setting causing POP3 (get new messages) to fail, whereas IMAP was still working. An easy fix was to remove the entire /var/cache/dovecot/1012/ directory, both index and index/control were re-created and do work. So my guess is that the existance of the indexes causes

PATCH Deliver forgets sendmail_path if DEBUG is set
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, Dovecot v1.0.0 deliver erases the environment if DEBUG is set, hence, also (probably) erases SENDMAIL_PATH if it has been read from configuration file. This happens with: Debian Etch, libc-2.3.6.so, gcc (GCC) 4.1.2 20061115 (prerelease) (Debian 4.1.1-21). Problem in log: May 10 12:33:07 ux-2s11-9 deliver(dvtest): execv() failed: No such

Unexpected behaviour when deleteing a big mailbox
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, my last tests left me with a mailbox with > 80'000 messages in Maildir. Dovecot served them fine. No problem. I usually use IMAP's "Mark messages a deleted" function and expunge later. Because the "Move to Trash" is default in many MUAs, I decided to try it on this mailbox. I do think that it is hard to

SEGV when user over filesystem quota and "Move to Trash"
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, I've configured Dovecot v1.0.0 with filesystem quota and to use hardlinks. Latter I use intentionally to save disk space and to achieve that an user can delete mails even if over quota and using the "Delete to Trash" feature. The following happens, when the directory file of .Trash/* fills up and would need to be expanded,

Equivalence of Mann-Whitney test and Kruskal-Wallis test with k=2
Hi all, The Kruskal-Wallis test is a generalization of the two-sample Mann-Whitney test to *k* samples. That being the case, the Kruskal-Wallis test with *k*=2 should give an identical p-value to the Mann-Whitney test, should it not? x1<-c(1:5) x2<-c(6,8,9,11) a<-wilcox.test(x1,x2,paired=FALSE) b<-kruskal.test(list(x1,x2),paired=FALSE) a$p.value [1] 0.01587302 b$p.value [1]

Recommendations on nonparametric statistical inference textbooks
Could somebody recommend some good nonparametric statistical inference textbooks for a beginner? And what are pros and cons of each book? Nonparametric statistical methods by Hollander seems to be more difficult for a beginner, but is great as a reference, right? Are there any books that are easier to learn than Hollander's? Also, I see some books in the wiki page. I don't find the

Combinatorics for nonparametric tests
For some small sample sizes I would like to exemplify the combinatorics underlying certain nonparametric tests like Mann-Whitney-Wilcoxon, Kruskal-Wallis and Spearman's rank correlation. I have written a function all.perm which delivers all permutations of 1,2,...,n and which works reasonably well. This can be used to generate P(R=r) of Spearman's rank correlation:

Detecting Growth Trends
Dear All, I am given some noisy data which (by naked eye) appears to be oscillating first but finally growing. Is there any statistical set (I mean something different from e.g. a linear fit, which would not be convincing at all in my case) to detect growth (possibly without relying on any data fitting)? Many thanks Lorenzo

Time trends with GAM
Hi all, I am using GAM to model time trends in a logistic regression. Yet I would like to extract the the fitted spline from it to add it to another model, that cannot be fitted in GAM or GAMM. Thus I have 2 questions: 1) How can I fit a smoother over time so that I force one knot to be at a particular location while letting the model to find the other knots? 2) how can I extract the matrix

quadratic trends and changes in slopes (R-help digest, Vol 1 #52 - 16 msgs)
