Notes on R Objects
Hi all,
Is there any way to add notes or comments to R objects? It can be hard for
me to come up with a descriptive name that encapsulates all the differences
between data sets, so it would be very helpful if I could add a note which
described the object. I didn't find anything like this in the R docs.

Matt

[O/T] reference for regular expressions
Dear R People:
Could someone recommend a good reference on regular expressions, please?
Thanks in advance,

Regular expressions: offsets of groups

What I want is the offsets of the matches for the group (b+), i.e. 2
and 7, not the offsets of the complete matches. Is there a way in R
to get that?
I know about gsubgn and strapply, but they only give me the strings
matched by groups not their offsets.

listing the files in a directory using regular expressions
Hi Experts,
This might be silly question that I am asking, but no way as I am new to
R.
I want to list the files in a directory using regular expression like
A_B*_C*.csv etc.
How to make this possible in R ?
I tried like this list.files(dir=".", pattern="A_B*_C*.csv") but this gives
no output, whereas list.files(.... pattern="*.csv") giving all the .csv

Hmisc Latex Question: column headings and Major Column Headings not properly alligned
Dear R users:
When I create a table without Major Column headings, my *regular* column headings appear correct in the typeset latex file. The major row heading and row groups are as they should.

Changing data frame column headings
I have a reshaped data frame with value column headings concatenated from
two column headings in the melted data frame. I want to change all 56
headings in a single command, but 'names' allows me to change only one at a
time. In Hadley's 2007 article on reshape in the Journal of Statistical
Software he mentions a 'rename' function, but I cannot find that.
Is there a way to

Questions about lexical scope
Dear R-users,
The numerical integration example given in Gentleman and Ihaka (2000),
"Lexical Scope and Statistical Computing," JCGS, 9, 491-508,
is very interesting and helpful in understanding how lexical scope
is about.
However, I got some questions that I just can't figure out.
First all, allow me to copy the two functions given by the authors:

Last guy to get BV working outbound?
I have tried everything to get BV working outbound. All worked fine
until the BV change last week. I called BV and they changed me to sip
gen with a new password. I stripped my Asterisk server to one phone on
Zap/1 until I get this working. The same BV account works fine with a
SPA-3000 so I don't suspect a firewall problem.
Symptoms: Asterisk registers with BV Ok

Unofficial Broadvoice-users query/offer and DID routing question
Let me start by stating that I've been thinking about setting up an
unofficial broadvoice-users mailing list for a while. I've asked
Broadvoice techs about it a couple times by phone and email and it looks
like they haven't passed it up to the people who would make that
decision or said people aren't interested in creating/maintaining one.
If there's enough interest (read 10

A working BroadVoice config example
I finally got my incoming and outgoing to work on Broadvoice with a
configuration file that is no where close to the one given by them.
Here it Is (sip.conf). For others who have a working config could u please
share so that I could compare. Thank You

Asterisk@Home .6 Problems with outbound calls using Broadvoice

SIP accounts for all my outbound calls. I'm unable to place calls using
BV. Inbound BV calls are ok.

Identifying time series
Hello,
I am currently attempting to introduce R at my company and am trying to
import time series data from a text file into R to graph. The format of the
text file is in date, data (e.g., 20040929 3.361). My problem is that I do
not know how to get R to recognize the first column as a business date
series. Or at the very least, I am unable to find a function that will grap
the second column

Broadvoice international dialling question
I'd be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.
I have a Broadvoice trunk attached to Asterisk which I use for frequent
calls to the UK using the following in extensions.conf
exten => _0[1-68].,1,Ringing
exten => _0[1-68].,2,Dial(SIP/BV/01144${EXTEN:1})
exten => _0[1-68].,3,Hangup
The caller hears immediate ringing, though it seems that Broadvoice

Broadvoice delivers CID even when restricted?
I can call my Broadvoice DID from a outbound caller-id blocked phone,
and BV happily delivers the CID to Asterisk (and then on to my IP phone
display.) I've tested with the *67 prefix from a PSTN phone to make
sure it was supposed to be blocked. The number is always correct, but
sometimes the the caller ID name is set to something funky (like a CO or
switch center name.)
I *think* this

Can only call VoIP SIP Providers (Weird)
I'm using Asterisk 1.0.4 with AMP and Broad Voice.
I have that with only 5 XTen Lite phones.
I'm able to call / etc with internal phones just fine.
I can call outside Vonage Numbers, and other
BroadVoice Numbers. I have vonage where I live (626)
and can call that fine. However, other 626 numbers I
get similar errors as below.
However, everytime, I try to call cell phones, and or

Broadvoice issues
Hi all,
I signed up for BV over the weekend. I have set everything up as per
their howto. I can receive calls to my BV number but cannot make any.
I'm running CVS head 1/30/2005 so assume that the patch is already in my
code. Am I correct? Is it the patch that's stopping me from making calls?

contour plot for non-linear models
Hello all,
I've tried to reproduce the contour plot that appears in the book of
Venables and Ripley, at page 255. Is a F-statistic surface and a
confidence region for the regression parameters of a non-linear model.
It uses the stormer data that are in the MASS package.
I haven't been able to reproduce the plot either in R ( version 1.5 )
and S. It makes the axes and it puts the
