Using string to call/manipulate an object
I am using getSymbols function from quantmod package to get price data from internet. Currently I have: my.ticker <- "IBM" getSymbols(my.ticker, src="google") This creates an xts object named my.ticker which contains historical price data for IBM. How can I call and manipulating this xts object using my original string my.ticker? I want to do: colnames(my.ticker) <-

I have a function with the follow signare: apply.strategy(instr, strat) where instr and strat are both objects of classes instrument and strategy respectively. I want to apply this function to a list that holds objects of the class instrument. Currently I am doing this by explicit looping: for(i in length(instr.list) ) { apply.strategy(instr.list[[i]], my.strat) } Is it possible to

if a variable is defined
I have an object type my.object. One of its slots contains a data frame (i.e. my.object@my.data.frame) .. I want to check if one of the variables exists in this data frame (i.e. my.object@my.data.frame$my.var) I am trying to use the exists function but can't figure out how the arguments work. Please help. So far I have tried exists(my.object@my.data.frame$my.var)

accessing members from a data frame
I have a data frame with the following columns: Date Price Buy Sell The Buy and Sell variables are binary. They are either zero or 1. Additionally, they are mutually exclusive. Either Buy is 1, Sell is 1 or they are both 0. But they are never both 1 for a given observation. I want to see observations for either either Buy == 1 or Sell ==1 (but not the ones where Buy == 0 and Sell ==0). How can

Trend.spatial function in geoR
I am having difficulty getting the trend.spatial function in geoR to work properly. After creating a trend.spatial object with a covariate, I try to add the command into my likfit() function as follows: trend1.trend.spatial <- trend.spatial("1st", trend1.geodata) trend1.spatial.EC0.1.reml <- likfit(spatial.geodata, trend1.trend.spatial, ini.cov.pars = spatial.EC0.1.eyefit,

Extracting windows from time series
Dear R Users Thanks for the help in advance and lets get straight to the problem: I have a 400 year long temperature time series and I am looking for decades that show a linear trend decrease of approximately -0.1 Kelvin or degrees. --> What I would like to program: A loop/function / command line that prints the values of all the trends (can also be overlapping) into a matrix that could have

Unable to Receive Emails from Phabricator
Dear all, I just created this revision <https://reviews.llvm.org/D34937> but I did not receive any email for it even though it says 'Automatically Subscribed' on the right. Also, even my profile shows no trace of the aforementioned revision. It shows that my last activity was on 24th May. Additionally, just to verify that I am not receiving any emails from Phabricator, I logged

quadratic trends and changes in slopes
I'd like to use linear and quadratic trend analysis in order to find out a change in slope. Basically, I need to solve a similar problem as discussed in http://www.gseis.ucla.edu/courses/ed230bc1/cnotes4/trend1.html My subjects have counted dots: one dot, two dots, etc. up to 9 dots. The reaction time increases with increasing dots. The theory is that 1 up to 3 or 4 points can be counted

RFC: Network Plugin Architecture (NPA) for vmxnet3
Device passthrough technology allows a guest to bypass the hypervisor and drive the underlying physical device. [PATCH] drm/core: Remove drm_dev_unref() and it's uses
It's been a while since we introduced drm_dev{get/put} functions to replace reference/unreference in drm subsystem for the consistency purpose. So, with this patch, let's just replace all current use cases of drm_dev_unref() with drm_dev_put and remove the function itself. Coccinelle was used for mass-patching.
