strange behaviour of importFrom directive in name space
Dear listers, After activating the name space for my bioconductor package (prada) I successfully ran R CMD check. However when loading the package in R and running the examples the imported function brewer.pal from package RColorBrewer is not found. I can directly call brewer.pal from the RColorBrewer name space typing RColorBrewer::brewer.pal, but it is not imported into my prada name space. When

Errorbars
Hi, Does anyone know how i get rid of the marker point in my error bars? The bars default function (it seems) is to have a dot in the middle of the bar, however i don't want it there. I am using Hmis to draw my errorbars and code is a<-as.vector(tapply(Sporangia,list(Host,Isolate),mean)) b<-as.vector(tapply(Sporangia,list(Host,Isolate),sd)) c<-sqrt(b/36)

I am attempting to run some sample code and and am confused by the error message: Loading required package: rrcov Error in fitNorm2(fdat[, "FSC-H"], fdat[, "SSC-H"], scalefac = ScaleFactor) :

how to change the margins of a plot area
Dear all, I am ploting two boxplot of two chemical variables using the format boxplot(Alkalinity, logAlkalinity, log="y", col=c("lightblue"), lwd=0.6, boxwex=0.3) However when I plot like this, the distance between the two boxplots is very big and as well the distance of each boxplot from the plot area, left and right. How can I minimise that distance between the boxplots and

Time plots
Dear all, I want to do some time plots and actually the dates are in the format of dd/mm/yyyy. So first I input my dataframe in R in a csv form. What I do is DF<-read.csv("C:/Documents and Settings/DF.csv") DATE<-as.Date(DATE, "%d/%m/%Y") # to tell R that DATE column is indeed dates with(DF, plot(DATE,pH)) Until here it works fine, but I have the graph plotting

How to sum values across multiple variables using a wildcard?
I have a dataframe called "data" with 5 records (in rows) each of which has been scored on each of many variables (in columns). Five of the variables are named var1, var2, var3, var4, var5 using headers. The other variables are named using other conventions. I can create a new variable called var6 with the value 15 for each record with this code: > var6=var1+var2+var3+var4+var5

Actually I have a large dataset, around 35 water quality variables with different units and of course in different ranges (some are orders of magnitude bigger than others). I want to produce one diagram with all the boxplots of the variables of my dataset. I tried these series of commands: >oldpar <-
