How can I do this?

extracting averages from smooth.ppp output on spatstat
I have used smooth.ppp in spatstat to create a smoothed surface plot based
on randomly selected depths across a lake (as marks).
I wonder if based on the smoothed surface plot if I can calculate the
average depth for each 10x10 grid square across the lake.
I can't see any obvious way of doing this and would appreciate some
pointers.
Many thanks,
Graham

Turning ppp into im in spatstat
Dear all,
I'm working with two point patterns (ppp) in spatstat. I turned one of
them into a spatial covariate (im) object. After that, I used this im
object to fit a Poisson model for the second point pattern, using the
covariate layer from the first one.
In R, the whole thing looks somewhat like this:
my_first.im <- as.im(my_first.ppp)
test.ppm <- ppm (my_second.ppp, ~my_first,

Changing coordenates
Hi everybody:
Does anyone know how I can change geodesic coordenates into UTM ones?
Thanks in advance for your cooperation,
Jimmy M.

conversion of LL coordenates to UTM problems (ED50-WGS84 format)
Hi R-Users,
I have plotted a region whose polygon coordinates are given in shp format ED50 UTM (zone=30) ) using "readShapePoly" in library(maptools).
Now I need to plot a set of points in that region (my.dataframe, with X and Y geographic coordinates), which have been read using GPS in Longitud-Latitud form (using WGS84 system), so I first need to convert these Longitud-Latitud data

Problem loading spatstat.
I upgraded to R version 2.6.0 yesterday; now I find that I can't load
spatstat.
I re-installed spatstat (that part seemed to work without complaint)
but when
I execute
> library(spatstat)
I get the error message
Error in dyn.load(file, ...) :

Spatstat
Hi all,
I am trying to install Spatstat on OpenSUSE 11.1.
install.packages("spatstat", dependencies = TRUE)
fails on the basis of various compiler packages (full message below).
I have gcc version 4.3.2, which should include gfortran and g++ - so I'm not
sure what to do!

Metropolis-Hastings Markov Chain Monte Carlo in Spatstat
I'm testing some different formulations of pairwise interaction point processes
in Spatstat (version 1.11-6) using R 2.5.0 on a Windows platform and I wish to
simulate them using the Metropolis-Hastings algorithm implemented with Spatstat.
Spatstat utilizes Fortran77 code with the preprocessor RatFor to do the
Metropolis-Hastings MCMC, but the Makefile is more complicated than any I have

spatstat sub-selection
Fellow Users,
In Spatstat, if you have a ppp object with, say 100 points, how do you
create another ppp containing a random selection, N, of the original?
You can tell the function 'rthin' to make a sub-selection of points, i.e.
"every point is removed with probability 0.5" but you CAN'T set N exactly...
I'm sure this should be easy...
Ta!

Version 1.11-0 of package 'spatstat' is now available.
Spatstat is a package for the analysis of spatial data,
mostly point pattern data. See <www.spatstat.org>
Important changes in version 1.11-0:
New format for ppm objects (objects in old format are still handled).
More stringent checking of function arguments.
Improved handling of pixellation effects.

spatstat - Fitting a Strauss model with trend determined by kernel density smoother
Dear r-help,
I would like to use the 'ppm' function of the 'spatstat' package to
fit a Strauss inhibition model. I understand that I can specify a
parametric model for the "background" trend, but how would I specify a
trend which is estimated using a Kernel density smoother?
In particular, I would like to use the 'kde' function of the 'ks'
package to

Spatstat - K2 index
Hi all,
I'm using spatstat to investigate the spatial structure of an arid shrub
population. The first-order intensity of my data does not appear to be
homogenous, so I would like to use inhomogeneous techniques. I realise
there is a inhomogeneous K-function available in spatstat, but there
doesn't not appear to be one for the pair-correlation function (O-ring
statistic). As such I was
