Special Characters on wine
Hi..
Guess this is asked alot, looked through the last 1000 posts but couldnt
find anything so here goes =)
Running a 10 finger training program originally made for win 95 on wine,
and it all runs smoothly except that i cant get it to show the danish
characters "???", if i press the keys on the keyboard they work fine so
its not the keymapping thats wrong..

Bootstrap BCa confidence limits with your own resamples
I like to bootstrap regression models, saving the entire set of bootstrapped
regression coefficients for later use so that I can get confidence limits
for a whole set of contrasts derived from the coefficients. I'm finding
that ordinary bootstrap percentile confidence limits can provide poor
coverage for odds ratios for binary logistic models with small N. So I'm
exploring BCa confidence

where is the source code of bca.ci?
i was searching for the source of bca.ci, a function of the package
boot. I tried
require(boot, keep.source=TRUE)
but again the source was not viewable. How should i do?
Best regards

Where the error message comes from?
Hi all:
I get the following error message that I am not able to resolve.

group definition for a bootstrap
Hi,
This is probably really simple, but I am clearly not R-minded, I have read
the help files, and reread them, and I still can't work out what to do...
I have a data frame (d) with 3 columns (age (0-5), quarter (1-4) and x).
I want to estimate the precision of my mean x by age and quarter, so I want
to carry out a bootstrap for each group.
I am trying to do this within a loop, so I don't

Bootstrap ICC estimate with nested data
I would appreciate some thoughts on using the bootstrap functions in the
library "bootstrap" to estimate confidence intervals of ICC values
calculated in lme.
In lme, the ICC is calculated as tau/(tau+sigma-squared). So, for instance
the ICC in the following example is 0.116:
> tmod<-lme(CINISMO~1,random=~1|IDGRUP,data=TDAT)
> VarCorr(tmod)
IDGRUP = pdLogChol(1)

When to use bootstrap confidence intervals?
Hello, I have a question regarding bootstrap confidence intervals.
Suppose we have a data set consisting of single measurements, and that
the measurements are independent but the distribution is unknown. If
we want a confidence interval for the population mean, when should a
bootstrap confidence interval be preferred over the elementary t
interval?
I was hoping the answer would be

danish characters - installing R - linux redhat 8.0
I'm using R on a linux redhat 8.0 installation.
The special danish characters (ÅØÆæøå) are showed wrong on the screen.
Example:
yy<-matrix(c(0,2,1,1,8),ncol=1,dimnames=list(c("Brøæå","AGF","AB","Farum","FC-Kbh."
),c("Stemmer")))
barplot(yy[1:5],ylab=names(as.data.frame(yy)),main="5. grade.... ")
Any hints?

namespace magic
I'm confused about name spaces. This morning I installed the
boot package because I wanted to look at bca.ci. So I did
library(boot), but then I had,
> bca.ci
Error: Object "bca.ci" not found
I had a look in the boot R directory and bca.ci was there as expected.
So then I took a look at the NAMESPACE file for the boot package and saw
that bca.ci wasn't exported. I tried

Separating boot results
Good Morning,
I'm having what I hope to be a simple problem. I am generating bootstrap
confidence intervals using package (boot) - which works perfectly. The issue
I am having is getting the results into a format which I can write out to a
database. To be clear I am having no problems generating the results, I just
need to convert the format of the results such that I can store the results

a Bootstrap understanding problem
I tried to reproduce a result from a former colleague which he got
with S-plus bootstrap method. I don't have S-plus at hand.
In R, there are 2 packages related to bootstrap method, bootstrap and
boot. The former has a function called 'bootstrap' but this does not
seem to conform either to the function used in S-plus nor to that
described in MASS, 3d ed., p.144.
The latter seems to be

bootstrap bca confidence intervals for large number of statistics in one model; library("boot")
Sometimes one might like to obtain pointwise bootstrap bias-corrected,
accelerated (BCA) confidence intervals for a large number of statistics
computed from a single dataset. For instance, one might like to get
(so as to plot graphically) bootstrap confidence bands for the fitted
values in a regression model.

[LLVMdev] Building the llvm runtime: 'Can't destroy file: The process cannot access the fi
Hi Jeff and others,
When building the llvm runtime, I always get this error message: 'Can't
destroy file: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by
another process.' The file is destoyed anyway.
I think that the the real error is the path for the file (*/\file.tmp).
However, I can't find the bug in the source. Do you have any clue?:

Issues while using “lift.chart” and “adjProbScore” function from ”BCA” library
Dear List,
Couple of issues while using functions from ?BCA? library:
1. I am trying to use ?lift.chart? function from ?BCA? library, but facing
issues while using model where model formula is passed as formula object in
glm.
When model formula is written as text, then it works fine. In my case input
variables and target variables are going to change dynamically, so have to

Question on survey package
Is there a way to use one of the functions in the survey package to get
a table of estimated percentages (or proportions) and the standard error
for each? For example, suppose that AGECODE AND SEX are two factors
with 5 and 2 levels.
The 5x2 AGECODE x SEX table would have the estimated percentage of
persons in each cell,
100*(sum of weights in the cell) / (sum of all weights)

format numbers using 1000 separator
Hi,
Does anyone know how one could format numbers using 1000 separator in R? For
example, format 1000 as 1,000 and 100000 as 100,000, etc.
Thanks,
