minimum distance between line segments
Dear R helpers, I think that this may be a bit of a math question as the more I consider it, the harder it seems. I am trying to come up with a way to work out the minimum distance between line segments. For instance, consider 20 random line segments: x1 <- runif(20) y1 <- runif(20) x2 <- runif(20) y2 <- runif(20) plot(x1, y1, type = "n") segments(x1, y1, x2, y2)

help me avoid nested for() loops!
Hi R folks, I have a massive array (object name "points") in the following form [,1] [,2] [1,] 1369 22 [2,] 1370 22 [3,] 1368 23 [4,] 1369 23 [5,] 1370 23 [6,] 1371 23 (10080 rows truncated) These represent pixel coordinates of interest in a jpeg image. I need to find the distance from each point to all other points of interest. The only way I can see to do this

hypot(x,y) instead of pythag(a,b) ?!
Some of you may have seen the pythag() part in the R API definition in "Writing R Extensions" (source = doc/manual/R-exts.texinfo). or followed the report and Prof. Brian Ripley's answer about pythag()'s availability from R's binary. As we say in above manual >> `pythag(A, B)' computes `sqrt(A^2 + B^2)' without overflow or >> destructive

Installing Java 1.4.2
For scalix on Centos the Scalix forum provides instructions for convincing Scalix that Centos is Redhat: http://www.scalix.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=516&highlight=centos I am up to the point of getting Java JDK1.4.2 installed. I did a: yum list|grep "java" and got: gcc-java.i386 3.4.4-2 installed java-1.4.2-gcj-compat.noarch

Problem with mdadm, raid1 and automatically adds any disk to raid
Hi. CENTOS 7.6.1810, fresh install - use this as a base to create/upgrade new/old machines. I was trying to setup two disks as a RAID1 array, using these lines mdadm --create --verbose /dev/md0 --level=0 --raid-devices=2 /dev/sdb1 /dev/sdc1 mdadm --create --verbose /dev/md1 --level=0 --raid-devices=2 /dev/sdb2 /dev/sdc2 mdadm --create --verbose /dev/md2 --level=0 --raid-devices=2

Undefined symbol "Rf_pythag" while loading spatstat
Today I installed the newest R develepment branch R version 2.14.0 Under development (unstable) (2011-03-18 r54866) on FreeBSD 9.0-CURRENT (amd64). All seems fine so far. After that I updated my R packages with option 'checkBuilt=TRUE'. There are four packages (spatstat, pscl, adehabitatLT, adehabitatHR) which gives an error like this: Error in dyn.load(file, DLLpath = DLLpath, ...) :

R-code help for filtering with for loop
Dear Sir / Madam, I am new for R coding. Kindly help me out in sorting out the following problem. There are 50 rows with six coloumns(you could see in the attached .txt file). I wish to go for filtering this 50 rows for any one of the six coloumns satisfying the value >= 64. I need to have a final table with rows having >= 64 value in any one of the six coloumns and the rest could be

multiple plots using a loop
Dear R users, I am trying to write myself a loop in order to produce a set of 20 length frequency plots each pertaining to a factor level. I would like each of these plots to be available on the same figure, so I have used par(mfrow = c(4, 5)). However, when I run my loop below, it produces 20 plots for each factor level and only displays the last factor levels LF plots. I'm fairly new to

princomp with more coloumns than rows: why not?
As of R 1.7.0, princomp no longer accept matrices with more coloumns than rows. I'm curious: Why was this decision made? I work a lot with data where more coloumns than rows is more of a rule than an exception (for instance spectroscopic data). To me, princomp have two advantages above prcomp: 1) It has a predict method, and 2) it has a biplot method. A biplot method shouldn't be too

Extrcat selected rows from a list
Hi, I have two lists 1) List1- 30,000 rows and 104 columns 2) List2- a list of 14000 selected rownames  from List 1 Now, I want to extract all the 104 columns of List1  matching with the 14000 selected rownames from List2.  Psedocode will be something like this: match rownames(List2) with rownames(List1) extract selected matched 104 coloumns from (List1) strore in-> List3 So the

Driver for Powerware 3105 (USB)
I ordered some Powerware 3105 devices for Linux workstations. These devices only have an USB interface. I understood too late that support for Powerware devices is only available for the serial interface. Since the protocols over serial and USB seem to be identical, it was not too difficult to modify the bcmxcp driver to support USB. The new and changed files can be found here:

Hi, I work with hyperspectral remote sensing data and I try to built a pls model with this data. I already built the model but if I try to calculate the RMSEP and R2 with a test data set I get the following error message: Error: variable 'subX' was fitted with type "nmatrix.501" but type "nmatrix.73" was supplied The problem is that I don't get the message for

Is Asterisk a Linux only system?
I know that it runs on other systems but do other ports get the same attention? I have been running it on a NetBSD server for about a year now and while it mostly works it just crashes from time to time with no explanation or core dump. I have improved the situation by expanding my intrusion detection but it still stops every few days or so. I have a cron job that tests for it and restarts it

Multiple phones when one is unregistered
I have an extension that looks like this: exten => 5555551111,1,Verbose(Door buzzer calling) same => n,Dial(SIP/user1&SIP/user2&SIP/user3) The idea is that any of the three users can answer the phone to let someone in. The problem is that if, say, user2 unplugs his phone then the call immediately goes to his voice mail and the other two do not have the ability to open the door.
