scatter3d() model.summary coefficients?
Hello All,
I am a R newbie and am probably misinterpreting something really
obvious...
In the Rcmdr package there is a scatter3d() function that can fit a
curve and also provide coefficients for the model. If I'm understanding
this right, I think it's calling the lower level stats package function
lm(), which is the part that actually does the curve fitting.
Anyway, what has me

Problem reading PostgreSQL data with RODBC
Dear list -
I am having a problem using RODBC to access records from tables in a PostgreSQL database.
There is no problem establishing the connection using chnl <- odbcConnect (dsn= ... etc.
The DSN seems to be properly set up using the PostgreSQL Unicode ODBC driver, and
sqlTables(chnl) works OK and produces a list of tables in the database (they are all in a schema called 'source').

dotchart {graphics} 2.11.1 vs. 2.12.1
I have a factor vector of subject races (Asian, Black, Hispanic, White; n=30) that I want to plot with a Cleveland dotplot or dotchart.
I tried the following in R2.12.1 :
> dotchart(table(school$Race))
Error in plot.xy(xy.coords(x, y), type = type, ...) : invalid plot type
Using the same data set in R2.11.1 the operation succeeded (I tried several variations to be sure):

Weird performance problem
Hi,
I'm running a CentOS 4. server and I sometimes face a weird problem.
It is a weird performance problem, and here is how I discovered it.
This server runs OpenVZ virtual machines, and one of them is an asterisk
server for my personal use. The first symptom of the problem is that
the voice quality became flaky. So I logged on the server to see what
could be eating cpu cycles, when I

[RFC] Switching to MemorySSA-backed Dead Store Elimination (aka cross-bb DSE)
Hi,
Over the past six months, a MemorySSA-backed DSE implementation has been added to LLVM and it now covers almost all cases the existing DSE implementation does, plus adding a major new capability: eliminating stores across basic blocks. Thanks everyone involved with reviews, testing & patches!
I think now would be a good time to start working towards switching to use MemorySSA-backed DSE

How to read percentage and currency data?
I'm struggling to find any help on this seemingly simple question - how does
one read data with percentage (%) or currency (?,$ etc.) signs? When I try
to read a data file which has any of those symbols in the data fields, they
are read as characters rather than values. Is there a function or library
which can deal with such values?
As an example, I use this sample from one of chinna's

copy file upon --delete possible?
Hi all, I have a particular request:
I was asked whether when --delete is specified on the client, the daemon
can, instead of delete the file, move it to a "trash" directory.
The path of the latter may be hardcoded and it is not important to
retain info about original path etc..
Not sure whether --backup or some similar option can do this just for
deleted files... I was looking

Hardware compatibiltiy list -- NetUPS
Hallo,
I own a NETUPS 450 (Model on the sticker: PRM 450i; upsstats reports
"UPS 450 VA FW -0024") which perfectly works with the upscode2 driver.
Maybe you want to add it to your list, even if the model is >10 years
old.
I suppose this is true for the whole series. According manual the come
in the 450VA, 700VA, 1000VA and 1500VA strengths.
They have been sold under different

I wonder if there already exists any R packages containing all the
data sets for the book "The Statistical Sleuth"
(http://www.proaxis.com/~panorama/home.htm; also available at StatLib
http://lib.stat.cmu.edu/datasets/sleuth).
I'm writing an R package with a friend for one of our stat courses
where SAS is the main tool being used. As the time is limited and half

Hello List,
My goal is to create a 5 category variable (p1_st_data$ob_mrj_cat), based on the p1_st_data$obt_mrj_p variable, using the following code for 50 States and District of Columbia (N=51).
p1_st_data$ob_mrj_cat <- cut (p1_st_data$obt_mrj_p, quantile (p1_st_data$obt_mrj_p, (0:5/5), include.lowest=TRUE))
The issue is that, for Utah, I am getting an <NA> instead of (42,48.7] in

Slow performance of gluster volume
OK my understanding is that with preallocated disks the performance with
and without shard will be the same.
In any case, please attach the volume profile[1], so we can see what else
is slowing things down.

Transport Endpoint Not connected while running sysbench on Gluster Volume
I'm having a hard time trying to get a gluster volume up and running. I
have setup other gluster volumes on other systems without much problems but
this one is killing me.
The gluster vol was created with the command:
gluster volume create mariadb_gluster_volume
laeft-dccdb01p:/export/mariadb/brick
I had to lower frame-timeout since the system would become unresponsive
until the frame failed
