Trimming the fat out of a Centos 4.4 Installation
Hi, just to avoid re-inventing the wheel, is there any document that
can help me reduce even further a "minimum" installation of Centos 4.4
(BTW can you say 600mb is minimum)?
I am in the process of creating a small Centos-4.4-based Asterisk box
and I need to boot it from a CF card. Deleting useless packages will
help me do what i want.
Example: even a minimum install of Centos 4.4 (or

Release Note Translation
Hey,
if you haven't started already, now would be a good time to begin
translating the release notes which are already on the wiki. We're going
to begin QA tomorrow and will finish the release notes from our findings
in QA. So if you now begin and watch the release notes page, you'll just
have to put the changes into the already translated stuff.
Thanks in advance (and for the work

Infiniband Drivers under Xen kernel?
Hello folks,
I am running Xen 2.6 under Centos 5.2 installation, and am trying to port
Xen migration abilities to Infiniband. But, the InfiniBand drivers do not
work under Xen kernel, only under non-Xen kernels. It looks like I need to
install some patches to rectify the situation.
Has anyone ever worked with Infiniband and Xen and would be able to give me
inputs about the same? I would really

yum/RPM Problem: several packages with the same name were installed, how to remove one of them ?
Hi,
We have a cluster with CentOS 5.5 installed with oscar. The firm which
has pre-installed the cluster has done strange things...and now I get
problems:
- if I understand correctly what was done, several infiniband CentOS
packages were installed (compat-dapl, compat-dapl-devel,
compat-dapl-utils, libibcm, libibverb, librdmacm, mpi-selector).
- Then the tar package from OFED was installed.

Gluster/RDMA
To Harry Mangalam about Gluster/RDMA:
make sure these modules are loaded
# modprobe -v rdma_ucm
# modprobe -v ib_uverbs
# modprobe -v ib_ucm
To run the subnet manager
# modprobe -v ib_umad
Make sure libibverbs and (libmlx4 or libmthca) RPMs are installed.
I don't understand why they appropriate modules aren't loaded automatically. Could put something in /etc/modprobe.d/ to make this

yum update question and kernel-smp-devel
I have a local yum repository for CentOS4, and from time to time I add
new (custom) kernel RPMS.
However, when I run 'yum update' on an SMP box, yum 'installs' the new
kernel, kernel-devel and kernel-smp packages, but 'updates' the
kernel-smp-devel package.
i.e. I end up with multiple versions of the kernel, kernel-devel and
kernel-smp packages, but only the latest

RFI: Information for Centos 4 unsupported kernels
Hi,
this may sound stupid, but;
- I'd like to install unsupported x86/i386 smp kernel because I need
some support (for eg. dual booting for r/w files for winXP) etc.
I'm now using 4.3 latest smp kernel. (I've tested that x86 still runs
better than x86_64 like I was told in January. Thanks for the advice.)
Questions:
Is there any documentation for how to install unsupported smp

Loop Opt WG Meeting Minutes for July 17, 2019
Hi all,
Apparently some people had trouble joining today. I also had trouble using
the attendee ID provided by webex. I've canceled the meeting series and
will be scheduling a new one with an updated link. Please remember to
update your calendars with the new invite.
My apologies to those who couldn't join today, and to everyone for the
