Boxplot of multiple vectors with different lengths
Hello,
I'm attempting to write a code that automatically imports data from
different files (with different lengths-just one variable) and makes tidy
box plots for comparison. I can successfully import the data and create a
list of the vectors I want to compare. But I cannot, for the life of me,
figure out how to generate box plots using the "list" option. Suppose these
are my data:

Finding/identifying a value within a factor
Hi all,
I'm trying to identify a particular digit or value within a vector of
factors. Specifically, this is environmental data where in some cases the
minimum value reported is "<" a particular number (and I want to manipulate
only these). For example:
x<-c("1","2","3","4","<1")
For a dataset that is hundreds or

Linking 2 columns in 2 databases and applying a function
Hi all,
I have two datasets, one that represents a long-term time series and one
that represents summary data for the time series. It looks something like

y<-data.frame(Year=c(2001,2001,2002,2002),Month=c(1,2,1,2),Threshold_Q=c(5,5,4,4))

Controlling the extent of ablines on plot
Hi all,
I'm attempting to make a quite-specific plot where the axes cross at the
origin and with gridlines for guidance. I've been using ablines to create
the reference lines because I want a lot of control as to where they are
placed on the axis. This command works very well for such control.
However...
These ablines don't seem to work when I specify the origin as 0,0. They go

Deleting rows with NA from isolated column in matrix
Hi all,
I'm relatively new to R and have a data management problem. I am importing a
data matrix with some columns that have missing values. I am trying to
figure out how to delete rows with NA for data FOR JUST ONE SPECIFIED
column. For instance, with the example matrix:
x<-matrix(nrow=5,ncol=3)
x[,]<-1
x[5,1]<-NA
x[3,3]<-NA
how do I tell R to delete any rows with an NA value

Importing Access 2007 data with ROBC
Hi all,
I'm trying to import Microsoft Access data into R. It looks like I'm
supposed to use the ROBC package, and this works fine with old Access
files (those with an .mdb extension).
However, lovely Microsoft must constantly update their software. Modern
Access files have an .ACCDB extension. I cannot seem to coerce R to import
data from such a file. Any advice?
I've been using

event.keyCode broken in prototype?
I ran 2 tests. One using proto''s Event.observe, and another using an
in-line handler of the "keydown" event in a textbox.
Using .bindAsEventListener, the event.keyCode is always returning a
capital letter, no matter what. The in-line event handler returns
lowercase vs. uppercase correctly... What''s going on?
I guess I find it hard to believe no one has tried

Imported tables from Access 2007
Hi all,
I am very new to R and I'm trying to import data from Microsoft Access. So
far, I've managed to do so successfully using the following code:
testdb <- file.path("c:\Databse.accdb")
channel2 <- odbcConnectAccess2007(testdb)
data.table <- sqlFetch(channel2,"data")
This successfully imports a table(?) called "data.table".
But when I try to

NFS mounts group name shows as nobody
I am trying to find out why my group names are showing as nobody. I have a CentOS 6 system that is acting as a NFS server. I have some older fedora clients where the group name shows up fine, but newer CentOS 6 clients have the group name for NFS mounts show up as "nobody". The username shows up fine but the group name shows up as "nobody".

multiple column comparison
Hello,
I have a very large content analysis project, which I've just begun to
collect training data on. I have three coders, who are entering data on up
to 95 measurements. Traditionally, I've used Excel to check coder agreement
(e.g., percentage agreement), by lining up each coder's measurements
side-by-side, creating a new column with the results using if statements.
That is, if

Replicating Rows
Hi,
I have a data matrix in which there are 1000 rows by 30 columns. The first
column of each row is a numeric indicating the number of trips taken to a
particular location with location attributes in the following column entries for
that row.
I want to repeat each row based on the number of trips taken (as indicated by
the number in the first column)...i.e., if 1,1 indicates 4 trips, I want

RCurl and Google Scholar's EndNote references
Hi!
I've performed a Google Scholar Search using a query, let's say "Frank
Harrell", and parsed the links to the EndNote references from the resulting
HTML code. Now I'd like to download all the references automatically. For
this, I have tried to use RCurl, but I can't seem to get it working: I
always get error code "403 Forbidden" from the web server.
