function to generate weights for lm?
Hi, I would like to use a weighted lm model to reduce heteroscendasticity. I am wondering if the only way to generate the weights in R is through the laborious process of trial and error by hand. Does anyone know if R has a function that would automatically generate the weights need for lm? Thanks, -- Tom [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Trouble installing pwr package
Hi all, I'm having trouble getting access to the pwr. This is on Ubuntu Lucid Lynx, 64 bit. I'm installing pwr via packages.install('pwr'), and loading it via library(pwr), both of which appear successful. Strangely, I never get access to the pwr object in R. I tried installing it to /usr/local/lib/R/site-library and ~/R/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-library. I also tried installing it

[LLVMdev] SSE levels & x86 code-gen
Hola LLVMers, Our language has many vectors in it and I'm looking to make better use of the SSE instructions on my chips. Based on the experiments I did last week and the help you gave me regarding generating the right IR to generate sound SSE code, I'm ready to begin a major overhaul of our system. I have a big question remaining: if I'm running on an x86 system which is, say

how to run linear regression models at once
hey, folks, I have two very simple questions. I am not quite sure if I can do this using R. so, I am analyzing a large data frame with thousands of variables. For example: Dependent variables: d1, d2, d3 (i.e., there are three dependent variables) Independent variables: s1, s2, s3, ......s1000 (i.e., there are 1000 independent variables) now I want to run simple linear regression analyses of

Rsquared in summary(lm)
Hello, I'm doing some linear regression: >lm<-lm(osas~alp,data) >summary(lm) However, the Rsquared in the output of summary() is not the same as the "standard" Rsquared calculated by spreadsheets, and outlined in statistical guidebooks, being SSR/SSTO. The output says "multiple Rsquared", but it is no multiple regression... What's the difference? Thanks,

Sweave: multiple graphic formats, e.g. win.metafile
Dear R devel, being constrained to a windows environment at work and having colleagues being accustomed to the Microsoft Office Suite, I was looking for a way to have the RweaveLatex driver for Sweave automatically generating 'win.metafile's in addition to the pdf graphics. Without this functionalilty, the generation of emf-graphics is quite laborious, I think: <<>>= plotit

Extracting t-tests on coefficients in lm
I am writing a resampling program for multiple regression using lm(). I resample the data 10,000 times, each time extracting the regression coefficients. At present I extract the individual regression coefficients using brg = lm(Newdv~Teach + Exam + Knowledge + Grade + Enroll) bcoef[i,] = brg$coef This works fine. But now I want to extract the t tests on these coefficients. I cannot

Extracting information from lm results (multiple model runs)
Just to inform: I posted that before in R-sig-ecology but as it might be interesting also for other useRs, I post it also to the general r-user list: Hello Alexandre, thank you very much. I also found another way to extract summarizing information from lm results over e.g. 1000 repeated model runs: results2 <- t(as.data.frame(results)) summary(results2) Although some questions popped up in

How can I extract information from list which class is nls
Hello! I work with : R : Copyright 2006, The R Foundation for Statistical Computing Version 2.3.1 (2006-06-01) On Windows XP Professional (Version 2002) SP2. At this moment I use the function "nls" combined with a selfStar model (SSmicmen, related to Michaelis-Menten equation, and provided by the "stats" package). When I realise the following operation (cf. p 59 of the

loop command to matrix
Dear UseRs,Extremely sorry for a basic question. I have a matrix of 19 rows and 365 columns. what i want to do is the following...First i want to leave out column number 1 and want to calculate the row wise mean of the remaining columns, which will obviously give me 365 values in one column, and then subtracting these values from the column i left out i.e. col=1 then i want to leave out column 2

PATCH: OS SSE support detection, version 2

I hope that this code will help to avoid "bug" reports such as http://sourceforge.net/p/flac/bugs/409/ (it seems that the author of this report compiled FLAC without --enable-sse option). OTOH, SSE support is

[LLVMdev] how to disable sse and avx
Hello, I want to disable LLVM to use any SIMD registers like sse and avx. I tried -mno-sse and -mno-avx on my Core i7 machine. It seems that the generated assembly still uses xmm registers. Is there any way for LLVM to only use scalar registers? Thanks, Zhi -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

Extracting the p of F statistics from lm
I need to extract the p value from a ANOVA done with lm model fitting <- lm(var ~ group) Sfitting <- summary(fitting) Sfitting[10][1] gives the F value and the degrees of freedom but I am not able to get the p value. The function df should give a p value given a F but I am not able to make it work. I found only something about aov in the R help and I am not able to make it work Massimo

cycling from x11 window in RCommander to graphics device window: Mac Os 10.6.8
Dear Colleagues, I have recently installed R Commander on my Mac OS 10.6.8. I'd like to use it for an undergraduate class this year. Everything appears to be working fine, except for one thing. I cannot use Command-tab to cycle from the X11 window in which RCommander is running to any other window open in my workspace. This is particularly important because I cannot cycle to the graphics

Dovecot auth username mapping

PAM authenticates through Kerberos, which are internal realms and not the email domains ? for example, my username would be laz at PARAVIS.LOCAL <mailto:laz at PARAVIS.LOCAL> and my email address would be laz at paravis.net <mailto:laz at paravis.net>. SSE return w/ elf64 ABI
Hi, LLVM made a change a few months ago and starting erroring out when a float is returned in x64 and SSE is disabled. This makes sense, really, since it's specified by the ABI that the return value must be put in a register you were told to disable, but it's breaking soft floats in Rust on x64. It seems there are two options: LLVM could break the ABI spec and have working soft floats on

sse, mmx support for hvm guests
Hi, I''ve a quad-core x86_64 machine (Intel Xeon), with sse/mmx support. However, I want to disable sse/mmx support from HVM guests. How can I do this? Also, is it reasonable to expect illegal instruction fault in non-root VMX mode if a guest VM runs an application with sse/mmx instructions? Thanks, Ashish _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list
