FIPS 140-2 OpenSSL(2007) patches
Hi, I am happy to (re)send a set of patches for compiling OpenSSH 4.7p1 with FIPS 140-2 OpenSSL. These are based on previously reported patches by Steve Marquess <marquess at ieee.org> and Ben Laurie <ben at algroup.co.uk>, for ver. OpenSSH 3.8. Note that these patches are NOT OFFICIAL, and MAY be used freely by anyone. Issues [partially] handled: SSL FIPS Self test. RC4,

PATCH: make contrib/redhat/sshd.init work with older RH releases
Damien-- Attached is a patch to contrib/redhat/sshd.init which eliminates the dependency on the success() and failure() functions from initscripts>=4.16. This allows sshd.init to be used for both early and recent releases of Red Hat Linux (i've confirmed it works on both 4.2 and 5.2 as well as 6.2). The patch also removes the 'Requires: initscripts >= 4.16' line from

Shrinking a ext3 filesystem ?
I installed CentOS on my home-server with 2 IDE 160GB MAXTOR HDD / RAID-1, LVM and ext3 partitions. Previous OS on this machine was FC2. I often "play" with LVM and, sometimes, have to extand or reduce some volumes size. I was surprised to see that resize2fs isn''t included anymore ! The replacing tool is ext2online but this one seems to only be able to grow a filesystem (not

Possible problem with hostbased protocol 1 rhosts authentication
I found this problem when working with the Suse9.1 distribution, but have since reproduced it with a vanilla build of Openssh (openssh-3.9p1.tar.gz). Basically I cannot get a command like this: XXXX>ssh -vvv -1 -o "RhostsAuthentication yes" AAAA to work. Yes the appropriate settings are in the servers sshd_config file. Hostbased protocol 1 ssh using rhosts between computers is

[patch/Cygwin]: Simplify host key generation in ssh-host-config script
Hi, as the subject says, the below patch just simplifies the host key generation in the Cygwin-specific ssh-host-config script. Rather than testing and generating each key, call ssh-keygen -A. Could somebody with checkin rights please apply? Thanks, Corinna Index: contrib/cygwin/ssh-host-config =================================================================== RCS file:

openssh reading only SOME ssh1 hostkeys from ssh.com ssh
Hey folks, I've asked this on the security focus mailing list, but no one seems to know... I'm in the process of moving my company from old crufty ssh.com ssh1 to openssh. On most of our hosts, we've created rsa and dsa keys but managed to KEEP the old rsa1 key... However, on a few hosts, openssh has been unable to read the old rsa1 key and has claimed: debug1: Unsupported

SuSE 9.1 Pro
Is anyone aware of any specific problems with SuSE 9.1 Pro in regards to running Samba as a domain controller? I have been trying for a couple of weeks to get it setup but keep running into one roadblock or another. Half of the time I can't see the DC at all unless I disable the SuSE Firewall altogether, other times I am able to see the DC just not connect if I have ports 137, 138, 139

sshd does not start
I hope I'm sending this to the correct group for resolution, if not please direct to the appropriate place for openssh problems. I complied openssh-3.5pl.tar on Solaris 8 OS system using gnu. I installed the lastest version of openssl. I did not install /www/gzip.org/zlib because I assumed that I probably have that, since I have gunzip.... Openssh compiled but I kept receiving warnings that

Is it mandatory to generate host keys on the target host, or can they be generated on another host and transfer to thetarget host
Hello, My question in 2 words is the following: Is it mandatory to generate host keys on the target host, or can they be generated on another host and transfer to thetarget host ? If my question is not clear here is an example... I need to install host keys on a host server. I imagine the usual way is to launch the following command locally on the host server . # ssh-keygen -t rsa1

Question regarding quotas (is this a bug or intended behavior) ?
Hi, I was wondering if this is a normal behavior (test was made using Dovecot v2.2.9). In my config, quotas are configured as follows: plugin { quota = dict:Userquota::file:%h/dovecot-quota quota_rule = *:storage=1G quota_rule2 = Trash:ignore } # doveadm mailbox status -u my_user "messages vsize" '*' Trash messages=4997 vsize=229535631 Drafts messages=0 vsize=0 Sent

unexpected behaviour in OpenSSH_3.7.1
Hi, we have installed OpenSSH_3.7.1 in /usr/local. In our environment all machines mount /usr/local via NFS and automounter from a server. Because every machine should use its own keys (otherwise we had to export the directory with root priviledges so that every machine could read the private keys from /usr/local/etc/ssh), we created the keys in /etc/ssh and modified the configuration files
