.libPaths() on Windows may return duplicated paths
In R v2.12.2 patched (2011-03-13 r54787) and also in R v2.13.0 devel (2011-03-15 r54806), .libPaths() may return the multiple paths referring to the same "normalized" path name. Here is an example from Rterm --vanilla using R v2.12.2 patched: > paths <- .libPaths(c("C:/", "C:\\")) > paths [1] "C:/" [2] "C:\\" [3]

Probably with default library tree
Hi, I just installed R on a new windows 7 machine and am having a probelm with the default libraries. The default libraries are not what I want them to be so when i say install.packages("XXX") the packages don't install where I want them to. Ideally everything would install to the same location as the base packages. When I look at my library paths I get the following. >

Windows 7 and .libPaths()
Hello, I'm having some trouble trying to set the .libPaths() on Windows 7, R-2.15.0 and R-2.15.1. The environment variables R_LIBS and R_LIBS_USER are set according to the help page for .libPaths() and the Rprofile.site file has the default setting, as shown below. R-2.14.1 recognizes the lib paths but not R-2.15. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? (I've also tried with

is there a way to update both packages if they occur in 2 libraries?
Hi everyone, I’ve recently added a private library as a way to manage my R libraries. And I did this by simply copying my old library to a new folder and then linking this to R by setting my R_LIBS environmental variable in .Renviron. However I have run into a problem. When I update my packages it is not updating those that are current in the base R library. This means I can’t load

R CMD install on R 2.5.0 alpha
Hi, I've just downloaded the latest R v2.5.0 alpha (2007-04-04 r41043) for WinXP. When I try to install a package R tries to install it to a no-name (empty name) directory (causing error downstream): RCMD INSTALL R.oo installing to '' FYI: Package install perfectly on R v2.4.1 patched, and did so also on earlier R v2.5.0 devel/alpha(?) versions. Current directory is: C:\tmp with

Problem with .libPaths & Rterm.exe (under Vista)
Dear list, I?m using R embedded in another program (coded in tcl/tk) under Windows Vista. In this context I don?t launch Rgui.exe but rather Rtem.exe. Now I have a problem finding libraries not specifically installed as administrator (and which are not in the path ?program files? but in Contacts\Documents of the current user). To be precise, the user launching my tcl/tk program can?t find

R pkg install should fail for unsuccessful DLL copy on windows?
Also note that this can lead to people not being able to load the package if the set of .Call entry points has changed between the old and new versions of the package. We strongly suspect that this is what happened to this Bioconductor user: https://support.bioconductor.org/p/121228/ Note that she's installing the binary and in this case no warning is issued. All we see is: package

.Renviron and Renviron.site (on Windows XP)
Hello, Could someone please tell me why the following doesn't work: I have a file C:\Program Files\R\rw1051\etc\Renviron.site, which contains the line: R_LIBS= "C:/Jim/LocalR-Libraries/FromCran"; "C:/Jim/LocalR-Libraries/Cantata" >From the documentation, I gather that I have put this file in the default location, but to be safe I also explicitly set the R_ENVIRON

Trouble installing packages on R2.14.1
Hi, Have just recently downloaded R version 2.14.1 and can't install packages (Code below), 32bit version on windows. From the looks of things access is the problem but I don't know where to start, would it be my system that is the problem or is the repository not set up for the latest version yet? Any ideas on how to rectify the problem would be greatly appreciated Cheers >

Problem in Installing Package from CRAN...
Hi, I have installed R 1.9.0 under Windows XP. When I used "Packages->Install Package(s) from CRAN..." to install the package 'gregmisc', I got this message: > local({a <- CRAN.packages() + install.packages(select.list(a[,1],,TRUE), .libPaths()[1], available=a)}) trying URL `http://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/contrib/1.9/PACKAGES' Content type `text/plain;

R pkg install should fail for unsuccessful DLL copy on windows?
thanks for your input Herv?. Glad to hear I'm not the only one still having this issue. In my opinion install.packages should stop with an error (instead of a warning) if this happens. However even if you want to keep the warning, at least make it so that users can set options(warn=2) to get an error if they want one. I tried setting options(warn=2) but for some reason I still get a warning.

Package Installation in RGui (PR#7262)
In reference to the thread http://tolstoy.newcastle.edu.au/R/devel/04/10/0859.html I have the same problem updating packages with newly-installed version of released version of R 2.0.1. Previous posts refer to a bug in windows. I wonder if there is a work-around? This probably should go to R-help but it follows on from the post in R-devel. Apologies in advance. library location and error messages when loading packages
Hello, I am running R on a server that several people share. Previously we all had separate libraries for R. I have set up R so everyone on the server shares the same library and I downloaded the latest version of R and installed it on the main drive of our server in the "Program Files" folder (obvious enough). I changed the Environmental Variables in the advanced system setting so

R pkg install should fail for unsuccessful DLL copy on windows?
thanks for the tip Jan. However it would be nice if I didn't have to handle this myself for all of my packages. (and teach my students how to do that) BTW I tried to disable staged installation, and the issue still happens: th798 at cmp2986 MINGW64 ~/projects/max-generalized-auc (master) $ R_INSTALL_STAGED=FALSE R --vanilla -e
