inar(1), time series of count data
Hello, is there anyone, who works with modelling of time series of count data. I try to model traffic accidents with inar(1)-models, but I have a lot of problems with the R-Code. I would be very grateful, if someone helped me. Nazli

Why are the number of coefficients varying? [mgcv][gam]
Dear List, I'm using gam in a multiple imputation framework -- specifying the knot locations, and saving the results of multiple models, each of which is fit with slightly different data (because some of it is predicted when missing). In MI, coefficients from multiple models are averaged, as are variance-covariance matrices. VCV's get an additional correction to account for how

Let R compile for libcurl8 ?
Hi! The same Inar reported for rawhide (https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2023-March/082482.html) is true for SuSE's distros. Right now R does not compile with libcurl8, but SuSE Tumbleweed/Factory switched to 8 a week ago. Would be great, if the patch Inar provided could be applied to main. R from Perl -- RSPerl and lines function.
Dear R-helpers, I am running well Perl and R on my Debian Linux, and I tried RSPerl. Installation is ok and all simple functions run well. But I have a problem to call the "lines" function. I would like to draw an histogram with the density curve on. Is is OK in R with the command: >x<-rnorm(1000) >hist(x,prob=T) >lines(density(x)) for example. Now, I have a Perl script

[mgcv][gam] Odd error: Error in PredictMat(object$smooth[[k]], data) : , `by' variable must be same dimension as smooth arguments
Dear List, I'm getting an error in mgcv, and I can't figure out where it comes from. The setup is the following: I've got a fitted GAM object called "MI", and a vector of "prediction data" (with default values for predictors). I feed this into predict.gam(object, newdata = whatever) via the following function: makepred = function(varstochange, val){ for

working with texts
WinXP, R-2.9.1 LS., I have been trying to solve a (for me) tricky issue. No matter what I've tried, I just can't find a way to do this. This is the issue: I have a text file (ansi text) "titles.txt" with lines of text; here is an example of such a file: >>>>> a brief history of polio vaccines anti-vaccination movements and their interpretations early warning

svn access for libao patches
Hello, Can I get svn access for applying some libao patches? It seems that nobody maintains libao currently. This is really bad because there are many projects out wich using it. BTW: Not all kind of apps need all available audio controlling settings. My current plans: 1. extending ao_pulse for controlling prebuffering and latency 2. later extending libao api with volume control (softvol). 3. I

Time Series Event Count: Great Responses So Far!

Time series forecasting
Dear all: I'm a newbie and an amateur seeking help with forecasting the next in a non-stationary time series, with constraints of 1 (low) and 27 (high) applicable to all. What I need help with is the solution concept. The series has 439 observations as of last week. I'd like to analyze obs 1 - 30 (which are historical and therefore invariate), to solve for 31. The history: Obs 1

an alternative to R for nonlinear stat models
Hi I implemented the age-structure model in Gove et al (2002) in R, which is a nonlinear statistical model. However running the model in R was very slow. So Dave Fournier suggested to use the AD Model Builder Software package and helped me implement the model there. ADMB was incredibly fast in running the model: While running the model in R took 5-10 minutes, depending on the
