Switch to Nvidia from ATI
I am having some issues (e.g. System lock ups) with my
ATI 9250 Video card.
I am thinging about replacing it with either a Nvidia
FX5200, FX5500, or a FX5600 card.
Is anyone using one of these cards on Centos 4.1 with
the stock (XORG) nv driver?

Half Life 2 - Steam
Hi everybody!
I'm wondering if anyone here is able to run Steam and Half Life 2.
The instalation is all ok, for both steam and half life 2,
but whenever I run steam, it starts upgrading to a new version then
after the download proccess I get a "RunTime" error!
I've already tried wine 0.9.23 and 0.9.15, and I get the same error at
the same point.
It is too sad, because

Issues starting RStudio Server and release file expiration under Debian (Jessie)
Hi! I am a new user of Debian and am having an issue loading RStudio Server, which may or may not be related to a previous 'Release file expiration error' when trying to perform apt-get update prior to installing r-base into my remote Debian system.
E: Release file for http://mirror.optus.net/debian/dists/jessie-updates/InRelease is expired (invalid since 13d 17h 49min 2s). Updates for

[hivex PATCH] Re-allocating unused blocks before assigning new blocks
Hello Richard
As discussed in the IRC channel, when merging a moderately large reg
file (~35MB) to a hiv file (~118 MB); hivex generates a huge hiv file
(~580 MB). These changes address that by creating a list of unallocated
blocks and reassigning unused blocks. I used

Installing Rstudio and shiny free server on Debian
First, as I'm here and owe it: huge thanks to Dirk and others who maintain the Debian packaging.
Second: I realise these questions are not right on topic here and I will go to the rstudio community support next but I'm failing to find answers elsewhere on the web which makes me suspect they haven't come up there and might well be Debian specific so I suspect that if the expertise

Does CVE-2020-1472 impact samba AD domains?
Hi,
I saw https://blog.rapid7.com/2020/09/14/cve-2020-1472-zerologon-critical-privilege-escalation/
and https://portal.msrc.microsoft.com/en-US/security-guidance/advisory/CVE-2020-1472
today and I am wondering what impact if any this has on samba AD domains in
particular and samba in general?
Is samba using the "vulnerable Netlogon secure channel connection"? Will samba

slow xvideo with xgl and nvidia fx5200
hi,
I am using xgl on opensuse-10.2 with the latest driver from nvidia. I
generally works fine. The only issues is fullscreen xvideo. The way
the xvideo extension is implemented causes high cpu load in the opengl
driver.
CPU: AMD64 processors, speed 1800.21 MHz (estimated)
Counted CPU_CLK_UNHALTED events (Cycles outside of halt state) with a
unit mask
of 0x00 (No unit mask) count 100000

2.4.9-ac18; issues with '/'
Hello,
I just went back to 2.4.9-ac18 from 2.4.10 (i386), and then
for the first time migrated all my ext2 partitions to ext3. I
did this over a series of reboots, as I confirmed that indeed
things continued to work. The last step I took was to convert
/.
I have set up /etc/fstab to mount my 'ext3' partitions with
'auto', I suppose thinking this will make it easier to roll

A couple of questions regarding the survival:::cch function
Dear all,
I have a couple of questions regarding the survival:::cch function.
1) I notice that Prentice and Self-Prentice functions are giving identical standard errors (not by chance but by programming design) while their estimates are different. My guess is they are both using the standard error form from Self and Prentice (1986). I see that standard errors for both methods are

Ruby on rails local groups, everyone?
Hi ,
Just discover a interesting way to connect ror developers locallly.
http://www.citycita.org let groups of people who share same interests
to plan events and meet offline in local communities around the world.
The service is quite new but it seem to have an ROR Oslo community that
use it -

Worth a look !

Map nt group everyone to samba
How would i go about mapping the
NT group "everyone" to samba or
linux. I would like to be able to
just give a nt specified group
permissions to a share.
My samba server is member of a
domain and i figured out how to
authenticate with the NT server
using domain security.
Any answers would be appreciated.
thanks

3.0.20b map domain user to everyone
Hi all,
I'd like to know that whether it is possible to map domain user to Everyone
and preserve ACL information when "xcopy /O /K" files from window client to
samba. Both samba server and windows client have joined Active Directory.
It seems that username map won't work since Everyone is a special group
rather than user in the domain.
eg:

samba everyone read
This is another plea for help with the samba bug of being unable to remove the
read permission from the everyone entry. In the samba bugzilla the closest
entry I can find is #4325. I made a note on the issue and would be happy to
provide any log files or debug info needed. This is pretty critical as
permissions cannot be adequately modified from windows.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Christian
