yam help
I am trying to use yam to create a repo based on the 4.4 CDs. I have copied the contents of the CDs to /var/dist/CentOS-4.4-i386. No matter what I try, yam always creates an emtpy repo. This is my current yam.conf file: [main] srcdir = /var/yam wwwdir = /var/www/yam arch = i386 [centos] name = CentOS $release ($arch) release = 4 arch = i386 metadata =

createrepo command for 6.4 respin
Hi List, I have been searching for the correct createrepo command to make a 6.4 respin. We have been doing this with previous versions using createrepo -u "media://$discinfo" -g ${DIR}/my_kickstart${VER}/comps.xml . Which had worked fine until now. yum update fails for 5.6
google for "centos error performing checksum" refers to createrepo but of course "yum install createrepo" also fails and the instructions appear to be overkill. OT: Local Mirror problems, wrong paths to RPMs with yum update
This week I set up a local mirror for a few dists, including Centos 4.0 and 4.2, and Fedora Core 3 and 4. I'm using a script called yum-pull. For the most part I really like the script, it automates the setup of your mirrors and tries a bunch of different mirrors when it goes out to get updates, if it fails on one it tries another. It uses the usual suspects, createrepo and repoview, among

Jigdo, etc...
Hi folks, I've just finished rsyncing/downloading/jigdoizing the entire i386/x86_64 CentOS 4.2 distribution. If anyone is interested go to http://mirror.tcs.ii.uj.edu.pl/jigdo/ You'll need to edit the .jigdo file by hand to change the server section [Servers] CentOS42=file:/opt/mirrors/centos/4.2/ to point to a local mirror (file, http or ftp), ie. to use kernel.org: [Servers]

[OT] Concept: RepoDELTA (simple createrepo hack)
I'm not on the YUM lists, so I'll post this here in the hope it will make someone happy. I'll forward the concept to Seth for consideration (if he doesn't see it here). This is a simple "createrepo" hack that would require corresponding support in the "yum" binary as well. I'm not sure this would work, but it's just an idea I figure I might as well

yum in CentOS 3.9
I need to support 3.9 for another while and thought I would set up a local repo with base and updates merged into one. How can I update repodata? I don't see createrepo in 3.9. --------------------------------------------------------------- This message and any attachments may contain Cypress (or its subsidiaries) confidential information. update from local repo mirror
so this may be an odd question, but my google fu seems to be failing me. I've created a local mirror of centos 5 & 6 with various instructions across the net, it seems to be functional, syncs on a regular basis, and is generally usable (I've built machines with kickstart/netboot from it and they seem generally workable). my difficulty comes up when I try to use the local mirror for

EL7 mirror: "There is no installed groups file."
I installed the RHEL 7 beta here to test while waiting for CentOS 7 to arrive. On noticing that yum didn't work, I decided to set up a local mirror. I rsync'd ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/rhel/beta/7/x86_64/os/Packages/ to a local web server here, then regenerated the repodata directory with createrepo. Now yum works fine, for the most part. "yum search foo" pulls

local repo question
I have created a local repo for CentOS 6 x86_64. I use a machine at 192.168.1.14 for that and created a directory structure /var/www/html/centos/6.2/updates/x86_64 then there are these directories at the location. Packages repodata Both are populated with many files. In my kickstart file I have a line: #repo --name=Updates --baseurl=http://192.168.1.14/centos/6.2/updates/x86_64/ All seems

Create a Yum repository for CentOS 5?
Hi, I'm using CentOS 5.1 on both server and desktops. I have a series of packages that I either rebuilt from CentOS SRPMS to modify them according to my needs (PHP for example), or that I built from Fedora Core SRPMS because they're not available on CentOS nor in the RPMForge repos (Seamonkey, MPD with libshout support, xmms-wma, ...). I want to create my own remote Yum repository

Problems with reposync and createrepo on CentOS 7 for RHEL8/CentOS8 repo?

Yam not generating repomd.xml
I think I have obeyed the docs. Metadata in yam conf says repomd (formerly createrepo but led to "unexisting --update option" message). Conf is otherwise pretty close to examples. I have downloaded Centos 4.4 ISOs, I have done yam -gv, ISO files are correctly mounted and published via HTTP, etc but no xml files are generated anywhere under /var/www/yam. What am I overlooking? Can I have

Creating my own YUM repository
I have already 6 Centos machines here and it is getting strange having to pull down updates to each system. Seems like I should set up one system to pull updates and then all other systems to point to it. How? Plus then I would want to add to this repository. Say that a number of my systems use tomcat which is only available via rpm. I would like to be able to add it to my repository, and
