.R file
Hello everyone Can you please teach me how to save my homework as .R file? I write my code in RGui. When I tried to save my work, the RGui only allows me to save it as .RData. By the way, after I save my work as .RData, I cannot reopen it. when I open it, only one message comes out as following: "ARGUMENT_ignored_." -- View this message in context:

savehistory not working properly in R?
Dear R users, I have a .RData which contains .Last object as follows: .Last <- function () { savehistory(file = ".Rhistory") } In this directory, if I issue the following command Rterm --save < mycmds.q to execute commands in mycmds.q and to save results in .RData, I got the following error message towards the end of the execution: Error in savehistory(file) :

autoloading .RData files / .Rhistory file
NOTE: WinXP, R2.2.0 All, a while back I posted a question about using relative filereferencing. The responses have allowed me to successfully set up the following directory structure: ...\data\raw ...\data\derived ...\prog ...\lst ...\log In the \prog directory I have put an RGui.exe shortcut and "pointed it" at \prog as the "Start In" location. In the same

lost association for .RData files
Somehow I have lost the correct file association for .RData files. They are now associated with a text file editor. When I right click on any .RData file and try to change the association, R is not listed as a choice of program. I browse to c:\Program Files\R\rw2001\bin\Rgui.exe and select that file to open .RData, but Windows does not then place Rgui.exe in the list of programs to use. I can

Loading .RData from Internet
Dear All, Can you please suggest me a correct way to load the following R data frame from the internet and save it to the hard drive? The following is what I tried: > raceprofiling <- > read.table("http://rss.acs.unt.edu/Rdoc/library/twang/data/raceprofiling.RData") > save(raceprofiling, file = 'raceprofiling.RData') However, when I used dim() to check the dataset,

how to save the R script itself into a rData file?
Hi all, As a part of work flow, I do a lot of experiments and save all my results into rData file... i.e. at the end of all my experiments, I do "save.image("experiment_name_with_series_number.rData")"... However, some times even with the rData files, I cannot remember the context where these data files were generated. Of course, I can make the R data file names and the R

Getting data from an *.RData file into a data.frame object.
Hi, all. I'm new to R. I've been a SAS programmer for 20 years. I seem to be having trouble with the most basic task - bringing a table in an *.RData file into a data.frame object. Here's how I created the *.RData file. library(RODBC) db <- odbcConnect("*******") df <- sqlQuery( db , "select * from schema.table where year(someDate)=2006" ) save(

Problem with RGui and MASS
Hi, Using R1.9.1 for Windows with Windows 2000 (also XP), I have come across the following problem that I have not seen before and am at a loss to explain. If I create an object using rlm from library(MASS) and then save the workspace, I cannot reopen it using RGUI by double clicking on the .RData file as I normally do. If I double click on the icon, R starts and then gives the following

savehistory in OSX version
Running Version 2.6.0 GUI 1.21. Generally, I enjoy working with the OSX GUI, which has some very pleasant features. Kudos to the developers! There is a nice history panel which slides out of the Console window. The buttons on the panel work as expected. I am puzzled by the behavior of history() and savehistory() run from the Console window. I would think that these functions would view and

Rgui.exe cannot be set as default program under Vista wtih R2.10.1
Dear moderators, when I installed the latest version of R (R2.10.1) under Microsoft Vista (service pack 2), I ran into problems associating Rgui.exe with .RData files. On doubleckicking such files in explorer, they open in a Rterm window. Trying to associate Rgui.exe with the Rdata files via control panel / default programs does not work - Rgui is not added to the list of recommended programs. I

Getting R and .Rdata together again
Somehow, I've managed to have my .Rdata files become `disassociated' from the R program. I am running Windows XP Pro. I have re-installed R 2.4 in an attempt to have it re-associate itself with .Rdata files, but to no avail. .Rdata files are now associated with a file compression program or alternatively with Rgui.exe. .Rdata files are represented by the blue R, but double-clicking on

How to save and restore a workspace
Saving your workspace means that the variables you currently have defined in your session [ everything that shows up when you type ls() ] are saved to a file, by default named ?.RData?. To restore the workspace, you use the ?Load Workspace? command and navigate to the (same) .RData file. Its default location for Windows, as far as I know, is your ?Documents? folder. So look there. I see that you

save.image() error
Running 1.4.1 (Windows) under Windows XP Pro. Have had no difficulty for several weeks since moving to the new OS. Today, while checking the behavior of my mouse, I loaded Rgui as usual. I then immediately tried to exit the program. Upon exiting, I got the following message: Error in save.image(name) : image could not be renamed and is left in .RDataTmp I can move the .RData file to any

Several simple but hard tasks to do with R
Hello everybody. I've been learning R for about a month to do a econometric study and now i'm stuck with some problems to make R do the things I want. Here I give the list of things I wanna do from the most simple to the more complex (for me of course): 1. Make a log. using tcltk in R under ESS/XEmacs on Windows
Sorry for the cross-post. Not sure where the problem is... A while back I posted an R function to R-help: cd <- function (dir = tclvalue(tkchooseDirectory()), saveOld = FALSE, loadNew = TRUE) { stopifnot(require(tcltk)) if (saveOld) save.image(compress = TRUE) setwd(dir) rm(list = ls(all = TRUE, envir = .GlobalEnv), envir = .GlobalEnv) if (loadNew &&

Make R 3.0 open .RData files
Hello! I have Windows 7 Enterprise and two versions of R installed: 2.15.3 and 3.0.0. Before I had R 3.0 I made it a setting that all .RData files - when I double-click on them - were opened by R 2.15.3. Now I want them to be opened by R 3.0 instead of R 2.15.3 (but I don't want to remove R 2.15.3. yet). I right-click on some .RData file, select "Open with" - "Choose default

MakeActiveBinding help needed
Hi, I wanted a Q&D way to open a new graphics window but keep the focus in the console window (under Windows and the Rgui), so I wrote a line into my Rprofile.site file as follows: invisible(makeActiveBinding('newdev', function(...) dev.new(restoreConsole=T), .GlobalEnv)) (That is all on one line, incase the mailer re-parses it). This gives me a command "newdev" which

Is there any function equivalent to Rgui's File--Save to File (menu bar) command ? (R for Windows)
Dear R users: I would like to know whether or not there is some auxiliary function for the Windows Port that emulates Rgui's Fille|Save to File [menu bar] command, analogous to flush.console(). More specifically, what I want to do is to insert such a function in .Last function in .Rprofile to automatically save the contents of the console as an ASCII text file whenever I quit Rgui. Or is
