Dear R People: I'm trying to install R-2.12.0 from source on a Netbook with Windows XP. I have installed the Rtools.exe (version 2.12) However, when I enter "tar xvfz R-2.12.0.tar.gz" I keep getting the message "cannot change owneship to uid 501, gid 20 invalid argument" Has anyone else run across this, please? Hello I would like to build R from source and use the PGI compiler, rather than the GCC compiler. I saw the instructions for the Intel compiler in the R Installation Manual, but I didn't see the PGI.
