[ggplot2] Wind rose orientation
Aloha all, I love using ggplot. It took a while to get used to the grammar of graphics, but it is starting to get easy now that I am thinking in a more structured way. A question. I'm making a wind rose that I'd like to be oriented with due north straight up. I've discovered that the orientation is sensitive to how north is represented. When north is represented as 0,

Accu-Chek Compass
Hi, I am a new user of Wine, and I am having trouble running the programme 'Accu-Chek Compass'. It is a programme for diabetics, that downloads data from a meter, and then graphs it in all sorts of ways. The Programme installs correctly, but when I try to run it, it just flashes on the screen for a split second, and exits. Any help would be nice.... Plod.

Range of circular data
I want to get the minimum arc (in degrees) needed to include a set of compass directions. I would like to use the range.circular() function of the package circular, because that package understands a compass-type of angle convention, but it gives results I don't understand. Howver, I can get the correct answer in the example below, 90 degrees, using the CircStats package. How can I make the

aggregate wind direction data with wind speed required
Dear list users, I have to aggregate wind direction data (wd) using a function that requires also a second input variable, wind speed (ws). This is the function that I need to use: my_fun <- function(wd1, ws1){ u_component <- -ws1*sin(2*pi*wd1/360) v_component <- -ws1*cos(2*pi*wd1/360) mean_u <- mean(u_component, na.rm=T) mean_v <- mean(v_component, na.rm=T) mean_wd

Output from as.windrose() in oce package baffles me
I'm having trouble understanding the output from as.windrose(). For one thing, data on a boundary between sectors seem to be left out of the counts. I assume that explains the missing point in the output below (angle 45). Shouldn't one side of each sector interval be open, to include values such as my 45 in the example? Also, why does the angle 180 in my input apparently not result in

Function completely locks up my computer if the input is too big
Dear r-help, Somewhere in my innocuous function to rotate an object in Cartesian space I've created a monster that completely locks up my computer (requires a hard reset every time). I don't know if this is useful description to anyone - the mouse still responds, but not the keyboard and not windows explorer. The script only does this when the input matrix is large, and so my initial

change lattice panel background color
I can't find a way to change just the panel background color in lattice. I would like NA regions in levelplot() to appear black. I've tried the trellis.par.set() stuff, but it it makes the background of the whole graphic black. Thanks, Scott Waichler Pacific Northwest National Laboratory scott.waichler _at _ pnl.gov
