Shutdown script not being run
I've got an odd problem. My server will not shutdown normally because the AoE driver is not being shut down properly. While investigating the problem, I found that the aoe script is apparently not being called for shutdown. I have been able to duplicate this with a brand new test script. My test script is just a simple file that echos back the start or stop command: #!/bin/bash #

Temperature sensor
Does anyone know of a cheap temperature sensor that will work with Linux? I don't need a fancy monitoring appliance, I just want a simple sensor that I can connect to one of my monitoring servers to let me know if the server room is getting hot. -- Bowie

Protection for removable hard drive
My apologies if this is a bit off topic... I am going to start doing backups to removable hard drives and I will need to send these hard drives to an off-site storage facility. I am looking for some way to protect the drives after I pull them out of the system. I was hoping to find some kind of clamshell enclosure similar to what is used with external hard drives, but so far I haven't found

(no subject) many .eml files with attachments to process
That's quite helpful, thanks, At the end of the day I would like to find some tool in Centos repository which as output will give me attachment in plain/text format (attachment is either plain text either html, but if I will have a attachment as plaint/text that would be enough to process content of attachment) Mails are coming from exchange server, and they are in eml format. Any mime tool

Cleaning up smp kernels
I have used the package-cleanup utility to remove old kernel packages, but I noticed that it only removes the 'kernel' and 'kernel-devel' packages. It does not touch 'kernel-smp', 'kernel-hugemem', etc. What is the recommended method of cleaning up these other kernel packages? Should I just 'yum remove' the ones I don't need? Some of my servers have a

xulrunner-devel dependencies
What's the deal with all of the new dependencies for xulrunner-devel in the last update? I'm updating my servers and the update for xulrunner-devel is forcing me to install 43 new packages! Is this a packaging problem, or are all of those packages really needed? For the moment, I've been removing xulrunner-devel from my machines to avoid the problem. I figure since it is a

Hello, I'm looking for some package in Centos which will provide en/decoding of mime formats. I have over 1000 outlook mails to process, and it would be great to script that, but centos 4.4 doesn't have a metamail package and I couldn't find anything connected to decoding and encoding of MIME. Is there any tool in Centos repository ? Thanks a lot, Paul Malinowski This electronic

yum update conflict
I updated my i386 systems without any problems, but when I tried to update one of my x86_64 systems, I got an error from yum. Transaction Check Error: file /usr/include/libdevmapper.h from install of device-mapper-1.02.02-3.0.RHEL4 conflicts with file from package device-mapper-1.01.04-1.0.RHEL4 So it can't install the newer package because it conflicts with the older package???
