whacked keyboard behavior CLI
Hi there --- for some reason I am getting really weird keyboard behavior
on the CLI (no xfs or anything running). Centos 4.4 yummed up.
For example if i type "root" to login, I get "rot" or sometimes
"roooooot". Then other times I will have to press a key like 3 times to
get a double character.
Now at first I thought maybe it was the keyboard, but it seems to

Wu-ftpd FTP server contains remotely exploitable off-by-one bug
Hello,
I see in BugTraq that there's yet another problem with Wu-ftpd, but I see
no mention of it in the freebsd-security mailing list archives...I have
searched the indexes from all of June and July.
Wu is pretty widely used, so I'm surprised that nobody seems to have
mentioned this problem in this forum.
The notice on BugTraq mentioned only Linux, not FreeBSD, but that's no

Survey: what's the best HTTPd/TFTPd/FTPd to serve up configuration files to sets
I would like to start a discussion centred around the various ways one
might serve up configuration files from an Asterisk server (I know, it's
better to use a secondary server for all this, but let's talk about a
smaller system).
The types of things being served would include:
- Logo image for sets that support that
- XML directory files
- XML or raw text configuration files

Another oddity - users get no ftp (no ftpd) on latest update from CentOS 5.0
The subject pretty much says it all. My ftp comes back with "ftp: ftp/tcp:
unknown service" - unless I run it as root, in which case it works just
fine.
What's going on here? Did I screw up a setting of mine or something?
Thanks.

wu-ftpd, proftpd, or vsftpd!
I have tried to configure an ftp server on one of my machines, I want
to all authenticated users to be able to upload files to the apache
web root /var/www/html. This machine is behind a firewall/router and
will not be exposed to the outside world. I want to know if someone
can point me to a good tutorial on setting up one of these servers, I
have read the man pages and googled for possible

Openmirage, erlang on xen, etc
I''m really interested in openmirage, erlang on xen, mini-os, rump kernels (just saw that today), or anything that runs directly on xen. I think there''s a huge potential and use case with these technologies.
I have a random question though. I''ve only seen these type of things running on Xen. Is there any specific reason you don''t see much on KVM? Maybe

Drops IMAP connection when a particular user's "Sent" folder is opened.
Does this mean that the sent folder is potentially corrupted?

Lstat & Dovecot
I am chasing a problem with dovecot generating an error:

I first tried making the directory world readable, same error. Them
tried to lstat [the path] at the console and receive the error:

Copying my system to another drive
Hi, I'm trying to copy my CentOS install to a new drive.
- old drive is /dev/hda and had
hda1 : /boot
hda2 : swap
hda3 lvm
hda5 : lvm
hda4 : /usr/local
- new drive is /dev/hdb
hdb1 : /boot
hdb2 : swap
hdb3 : /
I decided to get rid of lvm which is useless to me. I've created and
formated the new partitions and copied anything from the old drive to
the new one

Hello all,
I am having a problem running yum after doing the 4.6 upgrade. I did

Notes from Xen BoF at Debconf15
Xen upstream BoF
================
We had a discussion around Xen and packaging at Debian's annual developer
conference (Debconf) a few weeks back:
https://summit.debconf.org/debconf15/meeting/279/xen-upstream-bof/
These are my notes, I think there is probably stuff of interest to most
distro people, not just Debian folks.
The session was scheduled in a small, out of the way, room. Around 2

On distro packaging of stub domains (Re: Notes from Xen BoF at Debconf15)
Hi,
Wei Liu hinted that I should "chime in and / or provide corrections"
(his words). I'll attempt to do exactly that by not really replying to
anything specific. For the record, when I say "we" in this mail, I mean
"people who have contributed to the rump kernel project" (as also
indicated by the email-hat).
First of all, there's a difference between

Problem with LMTP
Hello,
I'm having a problem with LMTP in a proxy server since I upgraded from
2.1.16 to 2.2.28.
In my logs I have:
Apr 26 12:54:17 musio12 dovecot: lmtp(2082): Fatal: master:
service(lmtp): child 2082 killed with signal 11 (core dumped).
As far as I could check the message is delivered in a later connection.
I have enabled core dumped files, but how could I debug it?
