The "less than" (<) operator doesnt seem to perform as expected
The example here puzzles me. It seems like the < operator doesn't work as expected. > l <- 0.6 > u <- seq(0.4, 0.7, 0.1) > u [1] 0.4 0.5 0.6 0.7 > mygrid <- expand.grid("l" = l, "u" = u) > mygrid l u 1 0.6 0.4 2 0.6 0.5 3 0.6 0.6 4 0.6 0.7 > mygridcollapsed <- mygrid[mygrid$l < mygrid$u, ] > mygridcollapsed l u 3 0.6 0.6 4

Looping through rows of all elements of a list that has variable length
Dear R-ers, I have a list of data frames such that the length of the list is unknown in advance (it could be 1 or 2 or more). Each element of the list contains a data frame. I need to loop through all rows of the list element 1 AND (if applicable) of the list element 2 etc. and do something at each iteration. I am trying to figure out how to write a code that is generic, i.e., loops through the

TM Package - Corpus function - Memory Allocation Problems
I'm using R 2.11.1 on Win XP (32-bit) with 3 GB of RAM. My data has (only) 16.0 MB. I want to create a VCorpus object using the Corpus function in the tm package but I'm running into Memory allocation issues: "Error: cannot allocate vector of size 372 Kb". My data is stored in a csv file which I've imported with "read.csv" and then used the following to create

state-space models and kalman filter
Hello again, A different but related question to my last one: Does anyone know if one can easily estimate state-space models using ML and the kalman filter using R? I would be especially interested in a relatively flexible function that would allow for estimation of hyperparameters, or could be made to do so. Thanks Michael J. function: colvolve
Hi list, I have a problem to solve which I believe I shoudl use the convolve to solve it, but I could not figure out how to do it. I got mydata, which is a dataframe which has 7 locations, each location has a longitude, latitude and a value. considering a step of 0.5 degree for longitudes and latitudes, I got 15 points for longitude and 15 points for latitude. Then I created a grid, mygrid, which

New R User Group in Toronto
Dear R users, I'm pleased to announce that the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) user's group is now active on meetup.com, and taking suggestions for the first meeting. If you are on the region, you can sign-up now at the link below http://www.meetup.com/Greater-Toronto-Area-GTA-R-Users-Group This group is aimed to bring together practitioners (from industry and academia alike) in order to

overlaying 2D grid on randomly distributed points
Hi, I have a cloud of randomly distributed points in 2-dimensional space and want to set up a grid, with a given grid-cell size, that minimizes the distance between my points and the grid nodes. Does anyone know of an R function or toolbox that somehow addresses this problem? This is a problem of optimizing the location of the grid, not a problem of deciding what should be the grid-cell size,

Hyperparameters in ARIMA models with dlm package
Hi, i'm beginner in Bayesian methods, I'm reading the documentation about dlm package and kalman filters, I'm looking for a example of transformation of ARIMA in a state space equivalent to use the dlm package and calcualte the hyperparameters. Someone can help me about it?. If it's possible with a arima(1,0,1) example, or more complex model. While I have more examples best for me.

A question about MIX package
Hello all, When I used commands "ecm.mix and dabipf.mix" to do a simulation (sample size is small 100), I got an error : Steps of ECM, missing value where True/False needed. I've checked the menu, and the option "prior" of ecm.mix said that if structural zeros appear in the table, hyperparameters for those cells should be set to NA. However, it didn't say how to do

Transfers on an inter-PBX PRI link
Hi, I am trying to understand why some of my call transfers fail. My scenario is as follows: Legacy PBX1 ---PRI (EuroISDN) Zaptel--- Asterisk PBX2 Step1: PBX1 extension 101 calls PBX2 extension 102 Step2: PBX2 extension 102 answers the call and transfers it to PBX1 extension 103 Step3: PBX1 extension 103 answers the call and transfers it to PBX2 extension 104 Step3 fails and extension 103

annotating a filled contours plot with a grid of points
Dear R-help members, I am trying to plot annotate a filled contours plot (with filled.contour) with a grid of points. I have read ways of annotating it with individual points but not with grids in another matrix. Any ideas? Thank you very much. couting events by subject with "black out" windows
I large datset that includes subjects(ID), Dates and events that need to be counted.  Not every date includes an event, and I need to only count one event per 30days, per subject.  So in essence, I need to create a 30-day "black out" period during which time an event cannot be "counted" for each subject.  The reason is that a rule has been set up, whereby a subject can only be

NMDS plot and Adonis (PerMANOVA) of community composition with presence absence and relative intensity
Hi! Thanks for providing great help in R-related statistics. Now, however I'm stuck. I'm not a statistics person but I was recommended to use R to perform a nmds plot and PerMANOVA of my dataset. Sample(treatment) in the columns and species (OTU) in the rows. I have 4 treatments (Ambient Temperature, Ambient temperature+Low pH, High temperature, High temperature+low pH), and I have 16

simplest way (set of functions) to parse a file
Hello, What would be the best set of R functions to parse and transform a file? My file looks as shown below. I would like to plot this data and I need to parse it into a single data frame that sorts of "transposes the data" with the following structure: > df <- data.frame(n=c(1,1,2,2),iter=c(1,2,1,2),step=as.factor(c('Step 1', 'Step2', 'Step 1',

Reg an issue with smoothing factor in VAD implementation
Hi, We are looking at the VAD implementation used in opus. We are looking at the code where speech probability is calculated based on which SNR is estimated. Below is the part of the code I am talking about. /*********************************/ /* Speech Probability Estimation */ /*********************************/ SA_Q15 = silk_sigm_Q15( silk_SMULWB( VAD_SNR_FACTOR_Q16, pSNR_dB_Q7 ) -

Reg an issue with smoothing factor in VAD implementation
Yes, yes, I can reproduce it now, but only on platforms that define a 16-bit int by default (SA_Q15 is an opus_int rather than opus_int32). What system are you compiling this for? Reg an issue with smoothing factor in VAD implementation
Sorry, long holiday weekend in America. I can say with pretty high certainty that there is an overflow occurring and it is flipping smooth_coef_Q16 to be negative when it probably shouldn't be. I had originally thought it was only an issue where it was overflowing the 15th bit but not the 16th, which might still preserve the intended value for operations that ignore the sign bit (in cases

R DDD fortran
Is there an easy way to compile a packages's fortran so that it has the information for ddd or gdb to follow the lines of the code? I seem to remember seeing something about this, but I cannot find it in Writing R Extensions. (I see about Valgrind, debugging a segfault, and some other tricks, but what I really want is to follow the fortran logic.) Thanks for any pointers, Paul

Reg an issue with smoothing factor in VAD implementation
Just for fun, I tried to reproduce such an overflow. I turned on all debug macros, assertions, and checked arithmetic and then encoded 2 hours of mixed speech/audio with these parameters: Sample rate = 48000 Channels = 1 Application = OPUS_APPLICATION_AUDIO Bitrate = 24 KB/s Force Mode = MODE_SILK_ONLY Signal Type = OPUS_SIGNAL_AUTO Complexity = 10 Frame size = 480 samples (10ms) No errors came
