splom pairs and groups argument
Hello,
I'm trying to pull off a certain graph using splom, and can't quite get my panel functions right.
Basically, the equivalent using pairs would be something like this (using iris data set as an example):
panel.corval <- function(x, y, digits=2, prefix="", cex.cor,col,pch)
{
usr <- par("usr"); on.exit(par(usr))
par(usr = c(0, 1, 0, 1))

pairs(), expression in label and color in text.panel
Hello,
I'd like to add custom labels to my pair() plot. These
labels include math expression but they aren't correctly
displayed...
Further, I want that the boxes for the text.panel (diagonal)
have an other background color (grey80). Is that generally
possible? If yes how do I have to set it?
What I've so far is:
panel.cor <- function(x, y, digits=2, prefix="",

Error : unused arguments in pairs()
Hi there,
I am just starting in R and this might be a very basic question.
I applied one on the examples of
pairs()
to my own data. The examples shows scatter plots on one side of the matrix
and the correlation coefficients on the other which works well. I then
modified it slightly because I want different colors in the plots. Now i am
getting the error of unused arguments, because the color

panel.pairs in splom
Hello,
I have a customized pairs () fonction as follows that displays correctely my

Jitter in correlation matrix?
Hi,
I am just starting to use R for a graduate course, and I like how the
correlation matrix at
http://addictedtor.free.fr/graphiques/RGraphGallery.php?graph=137
I did something similar by copying from the examples(pairs), but it
seems that I need to jitter the bottom panel... and I have no idea how
to do that, and I mean no idea at all. I'd appreciate any help...
Here are the graphs:

Adding text (coefts) to pairs panels
Hi,
First of all, thanks for the efforts of all the developers and contributors
- I'm very new to R and at the moment am just using it to create some
graphics, but it seems to be quite powerful.
I've googled the archives and wasn't able to find anyhting that dealt with
this problem, so would appreciate any suggestions/tips.
In a pairs plot I'd like to plot a linear regression line

A question about pairs()
Greetings R users,
I am an R graphics newbie trying to produce a custom trellis plot using
pairs() with R 2.7.2.
I have spatial data on which I run a geographically weighted regression
(gwr, using the -spgwr- package). I want to check the gwr coefficients
for multicollinearity and spatial association, following Wheeler and
Tiefelsdorf (2005), and I would like to summarize the results of this

Postscript function Bug at R x64 2.12.1?
Hi list. I was saving my modified pairs graphic using a custom panel from
the R Graphics site, and I got an interesting difference in the final image
when I save it as eps or png.
This custom panel make possible to show at the left side of the pairs plot
the p-value as symbol and the correlation r value with its cex proportional
to the r value itself.
Well, when saving as a png file

Problems creating a PNG file for a dendrogram: "Error in plot.window(...) : need finite 'xlim' values"
Has anyone successfully created a PNG file for a dendrogram?
I am able to successfully launch and view a dendrogram in Quartz. However, the dendrogram is quite large (too large to read on a computer screen), so I am trying to save it to a file (1000x4000 pixels) for viewing in other apps. However, whenever I try to initiate a PNG device, I get a "need finitite 'xlim' values"

Enhance Pairs Scatterplot Matrix
Hi,
I am trying to do plot a scatterplot matrix using pairs() from
the package graphics. There are now a few things I'd like to improve
for a better understanding.
1) My scatterplot uses two log-scaled axis...as I
don't know how to set them in pairs() I calculated the log before but now
the labels are not as I want them. I'd like them as 10^1,10^2 etc.
What is the best way to handle

pairs, panel.functions, xlim and ylim
Hi,
I have the following problem.
I wanted to get a matrix of scatterplots and I used pairs.
I wanted to add the line y=x in each plot and I created a panel
function for this scope.
I used points and abline in the following way:
## put y=x in each plot
panel.lin<- function(x, y)
{
points(x,y, pch=21, bg=par("bg"), col = "black",cex=2)

Fancy pairs(), scatterplot matrix?
(I have checked the 2000 &2001 archives)
Awhile ago, someone posted a function to plot a scatterplot matrix with the
upper triangle containing plots (and maybe fitted curves?) and the lower
triangle containing the correlation coefs. I have lost that code and would
love it again if anyone has it. Thanks,
Henry

display p-values and significance levels
Hi there,
I got a piece of code for the Iris data which allows to display correlation
coefficients for each Iris species in the lower panel (color coded). I would
now like to add e.g. a "*" to show the significance of each correlation next
to the correlation coefficient.
Furthermore I would like to make a t.test between the species "setosa" and
"versicolor" for

pairs plot
my data are matrix with 3 numeric columns.
would like to have pairs plot
with scatterplots in the upper
with hist at the diag
and with correlation at the lower.
actually default pairs does almost what I want but looks semi awesome.
Especially, i didn't find out how to remove the axes from the lower
part where I do only want to display the numeric values correlations
there and somehow axes

Defining range of x and y axis in pairs()
Hi,
I have a problem to define the range of x and y axis in pairs() for my
scatterplots. In low-level plots I can specify that by providing xlim
and ylim. This also works for pairs() even if warnings tell me that it
doesn't (see below).
But if I add upper.panel and/or lower.panel it doesn't work - I get an
error message saying that there's an error in "upper.panel

Text Contrast in a Plot
Hi List,
I would appreciate any suggestion on how can I make a text I’ve inserted in
a plot show some contrast? With this I mean that I have a white text on a
plot and I would like to make a tiny border around it in black, so even
being small sized and the entire graphic being small in the text page I’ll
insert it. It will be visible.
Well I tried inserting a box() function inside the text()

Plot dies with memory not mapped (segfault) (PR#9785)
Full_Name: Clay B
Version: 2.5.0 (2007-04-23)
OS: Solaris Nevada Build 55b
Submission from: (NULL) (65.101.229.198)
I find that running this script causes R to segfault reliably. However, running
just for one system at a time (modifying the for loop updating iter to run just
for a system at a time works). The system is a Sun W2100z with 12 GB of ram, and
R segfaults using only around 360 MB of

cor() btwn columns in two matrices - no complete element pairs
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to calculate correlation coefficients between corresponding
columns in two matrices with identical dimensions but different data. The
problem is that the matrices contain NAs in different locations. I am using
the following code to try to calculate correlations between complete sets of
data:
#Code start
maxcol<-ncol(mat1)
for (i in 1:maxcol)

Translating R code + library into Fortran?
Hi all,
I'm running a monte carlo test of a neural network tool I've developed,
and it looks like it's going to take a very long time if I run it in R
so I'm interested in translating my code (included below) into something
faster like Fortran (which I'll have to learn from scratch). However, as
you'll see my code loads the nnet library and uses it quite a bit, and I

Trellis - setting xlim or ylim by data range in whole column or row
Dear List-mates,
I have been trying to set up a 4x8 trellis plot (that is, 4 columns, 8
rows), and would like to have the axis limits set based on the data range of
rows (for ylim) and columns (for xlim). I've been using the call:
foo<-xyplot(y~x|Epoch+Subject,
type=c("l","r"),
par.strip.text=list(cex=0.5),
...)
and updating to see different effects of scale
