bug in contour() ? (PR#897)
The following example just "hangs", i.e.
the final contour() does not terminate.
x <- pi*(0.5+((-13):12))/36
w <- 0.377*cos(2*x)*sqrt(abs(cos(2*x)))
v <- c(rep(-1.47,13),rep(1.722,13))*abs(sin(x))^1.5
cr <- outer(w,w)+outer(v,v)
s <- sqrt(diag(cr))
cr <- cr/outer(s,s)
contour(cr[1:26,26:1],levels=seq(-1,1,0.1),axes=T)

confidence bounds using contour plot
Hello
I'm trying to calculate 2d confindence bounds into a scatterplot using the
function "kde2d" (package MASS) and a contour plot.
I found a similar post providing a solution - unfortunatly I do not realy
understand which data I have to use to calculated the named "quantile":

filled.contour with log axis
Dear all,
I would like to generate a filled.contour plot with log x and y axis,
however using:
filled.contour(as.line,log="xy")
results in a warning message.
Does anybody knos what to do?
Thanks

vis.gam() contour plots
Greetings,
I have what I hope is a simple question. I would like to change my
contour interval on the vis.gam( plot.type="contour") in the mgcv
package. Is this a situation where I need to modify the function or is
there a default value I can change?
Thanks

smoothed contour lines
Hi all,
I'm trying to draw a contour plot
with rounded (smoothed) contour lines instead of sharp angles;
when the grid consists of only a few points
in x- and y- axis, the resulting contour
is in facts rather ugly since very sharp angles may appear.
I did not find any way to do it,
by using either "contour" or "contourplot" (from the lattice package),
I wonder if there

Same color key for multiple lattice contour plots
Hi all,
I'm trying to make multiple lattice contour plots which have the same color
key, to allow good comparisons. However, I run into some problems when
fitting the plots to the color key. Basically my strategy to tackle this
problem was:
1) define a color key for all plots;
2) calculate the variable range for each plot;
3) calculate the range of colors from the color key that correspond

ellipsis question
Hello R experten
I have just written a little function to calculate all pairwise
combinations of two vector arguments:
> pair(c(1,2,3),c(7,8))
[,1] [,2]
[1,] 1 7
[2,] 1 8
[3,] 2 7
[4,] 2 8
[5,] 3 7
[6,] 3 8

I want to generalize this to any number of arguments, for example,
<fantasy>
> ntuple(c(1,2,3),c(7,8),c(14,15))

2D contour predictions
Hi All
I have been fitting regression models and would now like to produce some
contour & image plots from the predictors.
Is there an easy way to do this? My current (newbie) experience with R
would suggest there is but that it's not always easy to find it!
f3 <- lm( fc ~ poly( speed, 2 ) + poly( torque, 2 ) + poly( sonl, 2 ) +
poly( p_rail, 2 ) + poly( pil_sep, 2 ) + poly( maf, 2

the proper way to use panel functions in lattice package?
Hi,
I was trying to stack a topographic map readed in from esri shapefile with a
contour map and a vector map. However, the plotMap(maptools) and
contourplot(lattice) do not seem to work well on top of each other. Here is
part of my code.
xrange<-range(225000:350000)
yrange<-range(2685000:2810000)
basemap <- read.shape("Twn25_town_dxf_Polygon.shp")

Get contour of a map
Hello everybody,
I search a function which returns the contour of map with levels like contourLines, but I would like this function return the border of the map too, because the function contourLines cannot consider the corner of the map and it is not adapted to fill polygon after that.
Thanks in advance

Need help putting histograms on the diagonal of a splom plot
Hello,
I am in need of help in putting histograms on the diagonal of a plot
produced with splom().
The plot matrix I am trying to produce is to have standard scatterplots
in the upper-left triangle, contour plots in the lower-right triangle,
and histograms on the diagonal. I have a function that does the first
two, but the histograms on the diagonal has been beyond my ability.

adding contour lines to a filled.contour
Hi all,
Does anybody know how to add contour lines to a filled contour plot?
I want to draw a single contour around values that are above a certain
level (e.g., significant). The problem I'm having is that since the
filled.contour command actually draws two plots (data and the key),
adding contour lines paints them over both plots.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Andy

contour and filled contour plots
Hello,
I'd like to remove color bar from "filled.contour"
plot.
Is it possible and how?
I also want to overlay "contour" plot on
filled.contour
but due to scaling of the "filled.contour" to
account for the color bar, aspect ratio for "contour"
is different from "filled.contour". Can this problem
be solved?
Thanks,
Mark

about contour - get contour coordinates - exclude area display
Dear all,
I wonder about what could actually be possible with the function "contour":
1/ - the definition of contour lines is most often meaningless when the contours are drawn in areas where no real data points exist.
It can however happen that irregular distributions lead to more or less irregular clouds of data points. Interpolations (eg: loess
regression, GLM, etc...) are however

Plotting contour & filled.contour in one graph
Dear All,
I have a question on overlaying a filled.contour (e.g. on soil properties data) and contour (by elevation) in one graph. Both have the same z matrix dimension. I'm able to overlay both graph, but the plots dimension did not overlap well on the same plots. How can I have both filled.contour and contour on the same graph? The commands that I have written are as follows:

as.Date(min(NEdaily[[1]]))), 1)
yNE <- rev(c(-0.3, -0.5, -0.7, -0.9, -1.1,

contourplot:how to get it to label all contours like 'contour'
Hi,
one of the nice things about contour is that it labels all contour lines.
contourplot only labels each particular elevation a single time.
i.e., if there are two contour lines corresponding to z = 45, it will only
label one of them.
is there a way to get contourplot to automatically label all the contour lines,
even those that are repeated?
i ask because i want to plot contour plots *w/

contour lines for levelplot
Hi,
I would like to add contour lines to a (trellis/lattice-) levelplot.
Sure, there is the "contour=TRUE" argument, but this uses
"cuts=..." (which is usually chosen very high for my plots. I guess
cuts=99 is the best you can do (?)) for plotting the contour lines.
Furthermore, I do not like the numbering of the contour lines this
way. Therefore, I tried to add a
