Package specific dependencies...
Hi,
I noticed recently when installing the GDD package for R under
GNU/Linux that it required the gd library (http://libgd.org/) for
generating graphics.
The resolution of this was to simply install the library on my system,
and then GDD successfully installed without any complaints.
However, the variant of GNU/Linux that I use is Gentoo, so I filed a
bug requesting that a USE flag be set for

libvirt-1.2.2-r1 (Gentoo) fails to start LXC containers
I recently upgraded "libvirt" on Gentoo to 1.2.2-r1 (latest available). I
have not used LXC containers for a few weeks, so I don't recall what
version of libvirt I was using when my container last booted successfully.
Unfortunately, Gentoo's portage tree does not offer any previous versions
of libvirt that I could downgrade to.
TL;DR: My container is configured to use

R-2.0.1 Gentoo g77 problem
Hello,
I use Gentoo and I can't get R 2.0.1 to compile. I used the portage system, Gentoo's source package sytem, and after it uncompresses the source to R, it says that I don't have a fortran compiler. It told me to use f77 flag and re-emerge gcc, which I did with the f77 and fortran flags, but it still won't compile. Does anyone have any ideas? I suspect that gcc has changed

Matrix addition and multiplication
I posted this earlier, but am not certain that it was in fact posted, so I
will try again.
Hi, I have an equation Xcp and would like to look at errors affecting it. I
am applying errors of -.58 to .1 to R and -.45 to .47 to Xc. I would like
to look at all combinations. I set up a matrix function as follows and it
does not work. On the last line, when it run, it does not seem like the two

[LLVMdev] Gentoo ebuild of LLVM
Hi guys,
there are few issues concerning LLVM and Gento Linux below.
1. Gentoo encourages to think of smarter packaging.
Oversimplified, but...
there are at least three audiences using LLVM:
- application users
- developers *using* LLVM in their projects
- developers *changing* LLVM sources.
Application users are not interested in LLVM, they are rather
interested to have their favorite

guest os time drift wild
HI, guys
Recently,I met a problem.
Xen''s version: 3.4.3
guest os:redhat 4.8 32bit
And xen.independent_wallclock = 1 has been set.
The time of guest os change to be fast suddenly, about 2000 second.
because the change is too wild, ntp didn''t sync to the ntp server''s time.
my application is dependent on the systme time. And this occurs a lot of times.
I don''t

Unable to emerge Wine 1.1.5 on Gentoo AMD64
Hello,
I am currently trying to emerge wine on my Gentoo AMD64 system, and it is currently failing on the last package. I haven't been able to make much sense out of the error message. If anyone knows what is going on or can otherwise point me to where I should look or anything to try, it would be greatly appreciated.
Here is the error I am getting:

Time Series Data
Hi all and thanks in advance.
I am regressing Time and Weight, and then predicting Weight at
different Time. The format of the Time data is day/month/year. How
can I get R to use time series data such as this?

Debugging system load - How to start?
Hi,
we run an "old" mailserver system which was set up a couple of years
ago. The systme dose "everything" what we need(ed). Over the last days I
noticed an unnormal increase of the system load up to 10 and lots of
users told me that there mailclient connections (sending and receiving)
are dropped from time to time.
I was planing to exchange the server respectively distribut

Regression testing on Gentoo
I'm new to regression tests on wine.
Currently, I'm using Gentoo's portage to build the latest wine and I want to know if there is a tutorial on how to make the regression tests on Gentoo.
I'm going to do what Austin English ask me to do at this bug (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21693).
Since I'm new to it and I know that Gentoo is too fragile in building things out

Trouble installing packages in Gentoo Linux
I'm trying to install packages in Gentoo Linux using install.packages().
The packages download fine, but when it comes to installation, I get
