Samba 3.0.0beta3: Problem looking up SID of root
Hi all,
I have just installed Samba 3.0.0 beta 3 on RH9, after uninstalling beta
2 (but keeping the smb.conf file the same). I am having a problem with
resolving the SID of root. I have "admin users = Administrator" set on
the single share I have set up so that Administrator performs as root.
Looking at a directory created in the share by Administrator on the
Windows client, which on

I am looking for a mailing list for general statistical questions that

and helpful and/or lists that you use and recommend?
Thanks in advance,

You probably need to add it, then.
If you don't already have an smb.conf, or the one in /etc/samba is
empty, you can copy the sample one from
/usr/share/samba-xxxx/examples/smb.conf.default to /etc/samba/smb.conf.

3.0.2a internal error (SIGABRT)
Hi there,
We just upgraded from Samba 3.0.0 to 3.0.2a last weekend. It was working
well for a short time but then I restarted smbd and winbindd, and for
some unknown reason the user/group databases became corrupt. I had to
delete the contents of /var/cache/samba to get it to work again. Anyway,
it is back up and running, but now winbindd seems to be crashing about
once a day. Attached is an

Panic action ignored by winbind during crash
Hi there,
I am trying to debug a problem with winbind crashing, but the "panic
action" I have set in smb.conf doesn't seem to be working. First, the
message I get in the log.winbindd file is as follows:

Why are the binaries so huge?
Hi list
I just compiled 3.0rc1 on Solaris 9 (UltraSparc IIe) with gcc 3.3. Seems
to work fine but I am surprised by the enormous size of the binaries:

Rails 4 + AngularJs (unembedded client) integration sample
Hi everybody,
I''m experimenting with Rails and AngularJs (as unembedded client) and
decided to upload to a public github repository my efforts.
Of course, everything is just a toy application I use to experiment and
test on various stuff (there''s absolutely no production ready nor
TDD/BDD backed code).
As of now a very basic login/signup feature is implemented and

Fair queueing: SFQ vs TBF
Hello,
I have one Q. What is better when using as leaf in one leaf with
several hosts (like subnet) to splice traffic equaly to user number?
Like 2 users = 256/2, 3 = 256/3 and so on. WRR was pretty good for this
job, but it''s only for 2.4.21 kernels and mine''s 2.4.22.
So what is better: SFQ or TBF?

cameras and CentOS
Hi
I want to put up a few cameras connected to a CentOS box.
I currently have a box with one camera and that works (USB),
I can take a pic (the script does that) and see that on a webpage.
However, I want to have a couple of cameras a little further
away (more than 5 meters).
USB has a limit, I have tried that camera with a longer cable
and it does not work ... so I need to route that in a

What do I do now???
11/09/05
I am/have been trying to get Samba working on my network for the past 5/6 weeks.
All I want to do is connect two pc's so that I can access the necessary files between
the two systems.
First of all I know the two systems can talk to each other as I setup the to lan cards
using WXP pro not using SAMBA. Since I can copy file between both systems I know that the connection is good and it

Samba File Server with 2 NICs, only one is used
Hello all,
We have a Mandrake 10.1 server with Samba 3.0.13. The box has 2 NICs,
2 IPs and our DNS servers have both entries (same name for 2 IPs).
Since kerberos is not working around here (tried to fix it for about 3
weeks, then gave up) I found my workaround: I use NetBIOS alias for my
server, all clients use this alias for samba access and they
authenticate thgrough SSPI.
My problem is that

Hi to everyone,
I''m an RSpec, and BDD in general, newbie so in order to learn I have

Samba 3.0 beta 3 issues
Hi there,
I'm using Samba 3.0 beta 3 on RH 9 (connecting to a Windows 2000 domain,
as a member server) and I'm having trouble keeping samba running
reliably. At random times it seems to stop recognising names from the
domain. Restarting winbind fixes the problem, but then it occurs
randomly again, usually once or twice a day. At least once it has fixed
itself after being broken overnight

Execution of a .sce file through R
Dear R Users
Does some has any idea about how to execute a scilab file(.sce file) from
the Terminal in R.
Any kind of guidance would be highly welcomed and appreciated.

PATCH: Port equalloudfilt.m MATLAB to scilab
Although the script doesn't generate identical results, it seems to get fairly close.
The deviations for the Butterworth filter settings seem larger than for the equal loudness filter.
This script requires OpenSource scilab which is available for Windows, Linux and MacOS.
