Help with time in R
Hi, I have a problem with the time formatting in R. I have entered time in the format "MM:SS.xyz" and R has automatically classified this as a factor, but I need it numerically. However when I use as.numeric() it gives me totally different numbers. Is there any way I can tell R to read thes input as a number? Thank you very much [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

scatterplots in car package
Hi, using scatterplot in 'car' package. There are 4 plots to be pictured together (ignore data used): library(car) par(mfrow=c(3,1)) ts.plot(rnorm(100)) ts.plot(rnorm(100)) scatterplot(rnorm(100),rnorm(100),boxplot="",smooth=T) # scatter with non-parametric fit problem is that the last one comes 'always' separate. Is there any way to solve it?? of course can use

Automatic anchors for text boxes
Hi All, I'm struggling to add text automatically to plots. I have a series of scatterplots that I have stored in a script because the underlying data changes often and the plots need to be regenerated. I use the scatterplot function (defined in Rcmd, I believe). When one of the variables is a factor, a boxplot is drawn over the scatter of the other variable. In the case where x is a

Boxplots over a Scatterplot
Hello- I'm new to R, coding and stats. (Oh no.) Anyway, I have about 12000 data points in a data.frame (dealing with dimensions and geological stage information for fossil protists) and have plotted them in a basic scatter plot. I also added a boxplot to overlay these points. Each worked fine independently, but when I attempt to superimpose them with add=true, I get a different scale for

3D-scatterplots - high quality rendering?
I have just started using the package 'rgl' to explore my data as a 3D scatterplot. It's a great tool. But I would like to be able to save some graph views and it appears the only format available is 'png' and it doesn't look that nice. It is excellent to work with on screen and explore/play, but when it comes to producing a good quality graphic I'm a bit

Axis Formats with library(car)
I am trying to develop scatter plots using library(car). However, the output I am getting shows the axis (x and y) in scientific notation. I want to have the axis represented by regular integers (for eg. the X axis i want the upper bound to show as 40,000,000 instead of 4.0e+07). Scanning the r-help archives did not get me the answer. I have uploaded my data here: http://bit.ly/olgMLt

Scatter Plot Command Syntax Using Data.Frame Source
I've tried various commands. ?plot, Teetor's book, "R Cookbook", and Mittal's book, "R Graphs Cookbook" without seeing how to write the command to create scatterplots from my data.frame. The structure is: > str(chemdata) 'data.frame': 14886 obs. of 4 variables: $ site : Factor w/ 148 levels "BC-0.5","BC-1",..: 104 145 126 115

scatterplot x axis specifications
I have created a scatter plot that has come out okay but I am having trouble with the x axis. My data consists of 4 treatments but these treatments are days so R keeps reading them as numeric and making my x axis continuous. Here is what I have so far: plot(pair$MC~pair$Day, pch=c(19,24)[as.factor(Cookie)], main='Paired t Test', xlab='Days in Field', ylab='Moisture

Q - scatterplots
I was able to make a scatterplot but ... 1) what does the "86" mean? The "86" shows up on the graph as well. > scatterplot (Shells/TotalEggs ~ Sector, data = data.to.analyze) [1] "86" 2) Also how do you change the Y axis title? I don't want it to read Shells/TotalEggs, instead I would like it to read Average Hatching Rate (%). 3) What does this error mean?

Additional points to scatter plot show up at wrong place
Hi everyone, I have a problem with adding points to scatter plots. The plot is drawn with the scatterplot() function from the car library: scatterplot(data[,2] ~ data[,1], data=data,smooth=F,reg.line=F,xlim=c(0.5,1),ylim=c(0.5,1),ylab="ML",xlab="Freq",cex.lab=1.9,cex.axis=1.8) after that, I draw one line with abline(0,1,col="gray20") which works perfectly fine.

Adding plane in a 3D scatterplot
I have drawn a 3D scatter plot : library(mnormt) library(scatterplot3d) dat = cbind(rmnorm(3, rep(0,2), diag(2)), 1:3) scatterplot3d(dat) Now I want to do 2 things : 1 : In the Z-axis (i.e. height), I want to see only numbers 1,2,3, etc NOT, 1,1.5,2,2.5............. 2. I want to add two Horizontal planes at hight z=2 and z=3. Those two planes should look like "bottom" of that 3D plot

Loop Function to Create Multiple Scatterplots
Hello, I am trying to create multiple scatter plot graphs. I have 1 independent variable (Age - weeks post conception) and 18 dependent variables ("Gene n" Expression) in one csv file. Is there a way to set up a looped function to produce 18 individual scatterplots? At the moment, I am writing the plot() function out 18 times to make the 18 graphs. My code is below and csv file is

Scatter plots, linear regression in ggplot2
Hi, Based on some modification that I did to the R Cookbook Graphs Scatterplots code, link:http://wiki.stdout.org/rcookbook/Graphs/Scatterplots%20(ggplot2) I have some questions and I will appreciate a help: - How do I change the legend title? - How can I change the for each linear regression its color and linetype? - How can I add for both the linear regression lines their equations and Rseq

A graph with a positive y-axis intercept
Dear all,   I have a challenge with a supposedly simple graph (a scatter). I wanted to use R to create a plot/graph with a positive y-axis intercept but it does not seem to give me what I expect to see. As an example, I used the following values   > X<- c(0, 4, 8, 11) > Y<- c(8, 12, 15, 22) then I used the plot function in the base package   > plot(X, Y)   This gave me a graph

Difficulty with formatting scatter.smooth output
Hello, I have been using scatter.smooth and been trying to format my plots and been unable to adjust the line type or color of the smooth curve. When I specify col in scatter.smooth, I can adjust the color of the scatter plot points, but the line always stays black and solid. lty has no effect. When I specify par prior to calling scatter.smooth, col will change the color of the points,

combining different types of graphics (scatterplots, boxplots) using lattice
Dear R users: I have a continuous outcome variable and four predictors, two continuous and two dichotomous. i would like to use the lattice plot to create scatter plots for the continuous predictors and boxplots for the dichotomous predictors. with 4 continuous variables, this is what i have been doing: trial = rbind ( cbind ( cimt$ant.mean, cimt$age, 1 ), cbind ( cimt$ant.mean, cimt$sbp, 2 ),

scatterplots: (equal axes and overlay)
Hi, I am doing lots of scatterplots for my dissertation and to make the comparable, I would like to have equal x- amd - y axis. Can I specify their scale? Another question adresses overlay scatterplots. Having prae and post measures for each case, is it possible to have them in one graph with symbols or colors for prae and post. So scatterplot(bdiprae, mocoprae) and scatterplot(bdipost, mocopost) in
