gnomeGUI installation
Hello,
I have successfully downloaded the sources and built R as a shared
library on a Red Hat Enterprise Level 3 box. I am now trying to build the
GNOME GUI, but configure is barfing on glade. According to the system
logs, the RPM for libglade2-devel-2.0.1-3.x86_64 is installed, but in
/usr/bin, where gnomeGUI configure is looking, what's there is
libglade-convert. How do I fix this?

x86_64 kernel compilation
If I can squeeze a message between the discussions on security (:-)) I
have been trying to compile a kernel on an x86_64 box under CentOS4.1 and
now 4.2.
The problem is that neither make xconfig or make gconfig work:

The RGtk2 package did not find libglade installed. Please install it.
Hello,
I'm looking forward to mining some new data six
ways from Sunday with a great looking R
application named "rattle".
May I please have the benefit of this list's
informed thoughts on how to debug an installation
error?
On Debian Linux's unstable release, I've done
root$ aptitude install r-cran-rattle
root$ aptitude install r-cran-rgtk2
user$ R

Rattle - libglade not found
I have just installed rattle on Ubntu 9.04, and R 2.8.1 and get an
error message when I try to run it.
> library(rattle)
> rattle()
Error in rattle() :
The RGtk2 package did not find libglade installed. Please install it.
I have installed libglade2-dev through synaptic, and following
suggestion from an earlier thread re-installed RGtk2 using
install.packages, and through synaptic.

--with-gnome-libs=/usr/lib/gnome-libs --with-readline

Java package status?
Has this RH errata made it into Centos5 yet?
http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2007-0365.html
If so, what does it take to fix the problem of tomcat not running under
Sun Java? Do you have to remove all packages that contain jars and
reinstall them?

Off-topic: Howto decrypt OpenSSL file in Win32 environment
Hi all,
I supose the subject is descriptive enough. In a CentOS server I do the
next to make the daily backups:
tar cfv - dir_data/ | openssl enc -e -salt -aes256 -pass pass:$PASSWORD
-out backup_file.bin
So I get an well-encrypted and tared file.
If I want to decrypt and the file is easy in Unix/Linux environment:
openssl enc -d -aes256 -in backup_file.bin | tar xfv - -C dir_what_you_want/

Globus Toolkit 4.0.3 under CentOS-4.4
Hi,
did somebody successfully compile Globus Toolkit 4.0.3 under CenTOS-4.4 from the
source installer gt4.0.3-all-source-installer?
If yes, with using some special compile controls?
Any comments welcome.

libMrm.so.3
I need to install libMrm.so.3 on my computer that has Centos4.3.
However, I am not experienced with Centos4.3 so far. I do not know where
to find this library for Centos4.3 and how to install it. Is there
something like apt? Using system-config-packages I cannot find any
intelligent way to search for programs and package.

looking for libpangocairo
I installed Komposer from .tgz file, since I couldn't find it on any of my
repos. It wants to use libpangocairo, but I can't find anywhere willing to
give it to me. I did a yum provides libpangocairo, but nobody would own up
to having it.
Is there somewhere I can download a compatible .rpm? Is there somewhere I
can rpm a compatible libpangocairo?
Thanks,
