hastctl hang
Hello,
I'm trying to integrate HAST to NAS4Free (FreeBSD 9.1-RC3).
Now I have created version 9.1.0.1.531.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/nas4free/files/NAS4Free-9.1.0.1/9.1.0.1.531/
Basic CARP + HAST + iSCSI target setup can be done, but very frequently I
get hastctl hang when called:
/sbin/hastctl status
/sbin/hastctl dump
Is it better for this method not to call from a script?

Adjustment for multiple-comparison for log-rank test
DeaR experts,
I was asked for a log-rank pairwise survival comparison. I've a straightforward way
to do this using the SAS system:
http://support.sas.com/documentation/cdl/en/statug/63033/HTML/default/viewer.htm#/documentation/cdl/en/statug/63033/HTML/default/statug_lifetest_sect019.htm
What I've found in R is shown below, but it's not a logrank test,
I suppose. (The documentation

7.0-stable: a hung process - scheduler bug?
Hello!
I was trying to build OpenOffice using all of my 4 CPUs. To be able to
do other work on the machine comfortably, I ran the build under nice,
and assigned real-time priority to the two Xorg processes.
The build started at about 23:10 last night, and hung at 23:46. The
procstat output for the make's process group is:

"sleeping without queue" ?
Hello!
My attempt to build openoffice.org-3 seems to be hanging. Pressing
Ctrl-T produces:
load: 0.11 cmd: tcsh 79759 [sleeping without queue] 0.00u 0.00s 0% 0k
(tcsh is used by OOo's build-script). What is this "sleeping without
queue" state, and why is process in it for so long?
This is an 4-CPU amd64 system with 4Gb of RAM. Only 16% of the swap is

Cisco FXO as PSTN gateway (updated request for assistance)
I have been compiling information on this configuration onto the Wiki:

I can call out to the PSTN just fine, but inbound calls all appear in my
default [bogon-calls] context, not in [pstn-incoming]
Can anyone help me locate why?

Likelihood ratio test between glm and glmer fits
Dear list,
I am fitting a logistic multi-level regression model and need to test the difference between the ordinary logistic regression from a glm() fit and the mixed effects fit from glmer(), basically I want to do a likelihood ratio test between the two fits.
The data are like this:
My outcome is a (1,0) for health status, I have several (1,0) dummy variables RURAL, SMOKE, DRINK, EMPLOYED,

FreeBSD 9.1 - openldap slapd lockups, mutex problems
Hi.
(Im am sending this to the "stable" list, because it maybe kernel related.. )
On 9.1-RELEASE I am witnessing lockups of the openldap slapd daemon.
The slapd runs for some days and then hangs, consuming high amounts of CPU.
In this state slapd can only be restarted by SIGKILL.

Strange result in survey package: svyvar
Hi R users,
I'm using the survey package to calculate summary statistics for a large
health survey (the Demographic and Health Survey for Honduras, 2006), and
when I try to calculate the variances for several variables, I get negative
numbers. I thought it may be my data, so I ran the example on the help
page:

Help using tapply with multiple variables
Dear list,
I have the function (as a simple example, which is actually part of a
larger function)
pres.test<-function(N0=N0, N1=N1)
{
dt<-5
r<-log(N1/N0)/dt
r
}
which calculates the annual growth rates in a population
Where N0 is the population classified into age intervals, say 5
years, at time=1995, and N1 is the population by 5 year age classes
at time=2000.

Multivariate Poisson GLM??
Dear R Users,
I'm working on a problem where I have a multivariate response vector of
counts and a continuous predictor.
I've thought about doing this the same way you would do a Multvariate
regression model with normally distributed data, but since these data are
counts, they are probably better modeled with a Poisson distribution.
For example
y1<-rpois(100,3.5)
y2<-rpois(100,1.5)

9-STABLE -> NFS -> NetAPP:
I'm running a few servers sitting on top of a NetAPP file server ? everything runs great, but periodically I'm getting:
nfs_getpages: error 13
vm_fault: pager read error, pid 11355 (https)
errors on my screen ? not always same pid ? the annoying part is that it seems to always affect the same jail that is running .. if I shutdown all jails on that physical server, everything shuts down

Reading SAS SD2 Data file
I am trying to read a SAS dataset into R that is in a .SD2 format, which
is the Version 6 standard format from SAS.
I see the routines that read the SAS XPORT format (foreign, Hmisc), but
is there any way to read this one?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Using gregexpr with multiple search elements
Dear list,
I am trying to use gregexpr to see if entries in a dataframe have
either of two possible values for a string.
here's an example
text<-c("fat", "rat", "cat", "dog", "log", "fish")
If I just wanted to find if any one of the elements in text match the
pattern "at" I would do
gregexpr("\\at", text)

Hello,
I have a FreeBSD 7.0-STABLE amd64 box which gives this message with apache 2.2

question about the chow test of poolability
Good day R-listers,
My question is more a statistical question than an R related question,
so please bear with me
i'm currently applying the chow test of poolability
in fact i'm working with panel N=17 T=5 , and my model looks like
this : Yit= a0+B1X1+B2X2+B3X3+B4X4+eit
My question is the following when i'm Testing for the equality of
the coefficients of the unpooled data (the

logistic regression by group?
Hi,
Looking for a function in R that can help me calculate a parameter that
maximizes the likelihood over groups of observations.
The general formula is:
p = exp(xb) / sum(exp(xb))
So, according to the formulas I've seen published, to do this "by group" is
product(p = exp(x_i * b_i) / sum(exp(x_i b_i)))
Where i represents a "group" and we iterate through each group.
