about comparison of KURTOSIS in package: moments and fBasics

Yes. That's the version I've been discussing that has non-zero exit status. That situation is why CRAN retired the prob package. It's possible you installed that library earlier in development and it's been "carried" along. It no longer installs, now. The problems with all of this seem to have started this month according to the conversations. However, no one has

Yes, that is exactly what I was doing two days ago. Warning in install.packages : installation of package ?fAsianOptions_3010.79.tar.gz? had non-zero exit status Which is what a reading of the explanation for why "prob" was retired leads one to expect. Do you have some other suggestion about how to get it to work? I notice you're not using Windows which might have a relationship

Ever see a stata import problem like this?
Greetings Everybody: I generated a 1.2MB dta file based on the general social survey with Stata8 for linux. The file can be re-opened with Stata, but when I bring it into R, it says all the values are missing for most of the variables. Behavior or as.environment in function arguments/call (and force() behaviors...)
Happy 2013! Can someone with more knowledge of edge case scoping/eval rules explain what is happening below? Happens in all the versions of R I have on hand. Behavior itself is confusing, but ?as.environment also provides no clue. The term used in that doc is 'search list', which is ambiguous, but the see also section mentions search(), so I would *think* that is what is intended.

An extention of outer() ?
Dear all, as per my understanding, outer() function is to facilitate 2-dimensional function evaluation, like to evaluate f(x,y) for different values of x and y.
