predict.lrm ( Design package)
Dear List,
I am familier with binary models, however i am now trying to get predictions from a ordinal model and have a question.
I have a data set made up of 12 categorical predictors, the response variable is classed as 1,2,3,4,5,6, this relates to threat level of the species ( on the IUCN rating).
Previously i have combined levels 1 and 2 to form = non threatened and then combined 3-6 to

Q: test for CPUID instruction presence
I found that FLAC__cpu_have_cpuid_x86() was removed in the commit
<http://git.xiph.org/?p=flac.git;a=commitdiff;h=fa24613ad94ba8fb8e23bcb9ca80b4548bb617e6>
with the message:
"Remove `FLAC__cpu_have_cpuid_x86` altogether as it wasn't actually
being used but that was difficult to tell because of all the #ifdef
nonsense."
But FLAC__cpu_have_cpuid_x86() actually WAS used

Need help with postgresql authentication set up
OS - CentOS4
PostgreSQL = 8.0.3
I think that I need to locate a custom pam module to use in
pg_hba.conf that will allow phpPgAdmin to authenticate users
against /etc/password (shadow). I cannot seem to find a straight
forward reference to such a beast either in the documentation or on
the web. The pam modules that I have found through google seem to
be intended to allow one to authenticate

Polly loop offloading to Accelerator
Hello,
i have been working with an accelerator backend. the accelerator has large
vector/simd units.
i want streaming loops (non-temporal) vectorized present in code to be
offloaded to accelerator simd units.
i find polly really suitable for this.
i am thinking if the generated IR is passed to polly and then it analyzes
loop to know it posses no reuse, if such loop is identified accelerator

I appologise in advance if this is a little OT, but I am building

Patent troubles...
Hi everyone.
Reading all this posts about patent issues, I thought of something:
if, by some wild chance FhG (or some other audio company) manages
to prove in court that vorbis is breaking their patent rights, you could
do something like LAME developers did: release only source code and
let people do the compiling so that only users that are living in countries
where patents on algorithms are

SysVinit guidance, please
I have experienced a couple of power failures since installing CentOS 5,
both while I was working on the system. The first time, several weeks
ago, I thought there was some "feature" that I had never seen before but
couldn't really put my finger on it. The power came back on after a few
seconds and I never missed a beat. I also shrewdly forgot about the
anomaly that I had

The Public Appology To Francis Cianfrocca
Dear Mongrel Users,
It appears that Francis still isn''t satisfied with my attempts to
apologize and he''s now asked me privately to retract my statements.
So, just to be sure he finally gets it:
I retract my statements that Francis and his friends are "shady" and
"desperate for cash". He is in no way a shady guy, having dealt with
this situation with the

Crackers?
Hi,
just wishing you a merry christmas and happy new year, by presenting to
you a new trojan for Linux. It`s professionally made by Apple Computer
Inc. (must be somebody who threatened them to do it).

Fwd: Bug Reporting
Hello,
I would like to report this date/time bug that threatened me for a long
time,
as I need correct date calculation in my computations.
If I add 1 day to the light saving switching day, it will incorrectly
subtract 1 hour from the date and missalign all my calculations.
You can see it runing (I am testing it with Rome, Italy (+1) TimeZone)

Can't join my domain
Guys and dolls,
Greetings, I hope you all are in good health, great spirits and your glasses
never empty.
I have a samba, openldap question.
I am trying to setup a FC-4 box to be a PDC for a small network of about 150
users. I was following the HOWTO on the SAMBA site. Everything seems to be
fine however I cannot join the domain. I get the error "User name could not

A proposed CentOS mailing list FAQ
Folks,
I threatened to do this a few months ago.... Here's a first draft. I
was thinking of it as something that might get posted the beginning of
the month, or sent to someone who drops in with "it doesn't work!!!".
PLEASE feel free, no, *please* rip, shred, tear, rend this, and help
me make it usable.

ZFS on Linux in production?
We are a CentOS shop, and have the lucky, fortunate problem of having
ever-increasing amounts of data to manage. EXT3/4 becomes tough to
manage when you start climbing, especially when you have to upgrade, so
we're contemplating switching to ZFS.
As of last spring, it appears that ZFS On Linux http://zfsonlinux.org/
calls itself production ready despite a version number of 0.6.2, and
