Analisys in Multidimensional contingency tables
Dear R-list, Hi everyone, Im trying to make an analysis of multidimensional contingency tables using R. I' working with the Agresti example where you have the data from 3 categories. The thing is how can I do the analisys using the G2 statistics. Somebody can send me an Idea? I attach the program where you can find the data. Best Regards, > prob1<-

Row mean scores differ
Suppose that we have o 2-D contingency table where the row variable is nominal and the column one is ordinal. In SAS it is possible to compute the statistic named as row mean scores differ. How can we programmed it in R? (See also Aggresti (2002), Categorical Data Analysis, p. 302) With regards --------------------------------- [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Bayesian constrained regression method?
Hello everyone, I am trying to estimate the parameter b. I have Y and X1 which I know and they are both random. However, I also have X2 which I don't know and is also random. I want to estimat b from the model: Y = b*X1 + ( 1 - b ) * X2 Can anyone offer some suggestions. The values of Y and X1 are both pvalues so they are constrained in (0,1). -- Thanks, Jim. Logistic regression and R
Hello everybody :-) I have some data that I want to model with a logistic regression, most of the independent variables are numeric and the only dependent is categorical, I was thinking that I could apply a logistic regression using glm but I wanted to deepen my knowledge of this so I tried to do some reading and found the "iris" dataset, now I would like to ask two things, first

Bayesian data analysis recommendations
Dear all, I am trying to learn Bayesian inference and Bayesian data analysis, I am new in the field. Would any experts on the list recommend any good sites or materials for beginners? My approach is to learn and understand the theory first, then program on my own using R, though I see there are already packages. appreciate any help, thanks in advance!

Generating contingency tables from the null
Hi all, I have a 3x4 contingency table with row totals all being 100. I want to generate 3 x 4 tables from the null distribution. Which R function can do this? -- Thanks, Jim. [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Can I test if there are statistical significance between different rows in R*C table?
Dear friends, My R*C table is as follow: better good bad Goup1 16 71 37 Group2 0 4 61 Group3 1 6 57 Can I test if there are statistical significant between Group1 and Group2, Group2 and Group3, Group1 and Group2, taking into the multiple comparisons? The table can be set up using the following program: a<-matrix(data=c(16,71,37,0,4,61,1,6,57),nrow=3,byrow=TRUE) Thanks

'simulate.p.value' for goodness of fit
R Help on 'chisq.test' states that "if 'simulate.p.value' is 'TRUE', the p-value is computed by Monte Carlo simulation with 'B' replicates. In the contingency table case this is done by random sampling from the set of all contingency tables with given marginals, and works only if the marginals are positive... In the

ordinal logistic regression for longitudinal data set
Hi, Can one tell me which procedure will fit an ordinal logistic regression model for longitudinal data set. To be precise, I have both dichotomous and polytomous items. Also, I would like to specify different covariance structures (unstructured, ar1 etc) for trial runs. Thanks -- View this message in context:

hierarchical partitioning in generalized linear mixed models
dear colleagues, I want to use hierarchical partitioning methods to evaluate variance contributions of differente predictors within a generalized linear mixed model framework. I don't know if this is possible, because I can not found anything about this issue. My error is poisson and I, at least, a random factor in the designed analysis. I acknowledge any idea about how deal with

Ordinal Mantel-Haenszel type inference
Hello, I am searching for an R-Package that does an exentsion of the Mantel-Haenszel test for ordinal data as described in Liu and Agresti (1996) "A Mantel-Haenszel type inference for cummulative odds ratios". in Biometrics. I see packages such as Epi that perform it for binary data and derives a varaince for it using the Robbins and Breslow variance method. As well as another pacakge

Bayesian Relative Survival Analysis in R?
Hi all, May i know does R has packages or code to run "Bayesian Relative Survival Analysis"? getting started on Bayesian analysis
I am an economist who decided it's high time that I learned some Bayesian statistics. I am following An Introduction to Modern Bayesian Econometrics by T. Lancaster. The book recommends using BUGS, but I wonder if there are any alternatives which are free software and fully integrated to R (which I have been using for more than two years for numerical computations.) I would like to learn

Bayesian Credible Intervals for a Proportion
I am trying to calculate Bayesian Credible Intervals for a proportion (disease prevalence values to be more specific) and am having trouble using R to do this. I am working with ncredint() function but have not had success with it. Please help! Example: Positive samples = 3 Total sampled = 10 Prevalence = 0.3 pvec <- seq(1,10,by=1) npost = dbinom(pvec,10,prob=0.3, log=FALSE) ncredint(pvec,

Getting Started with Bayesian MCMC
Hi all, I would like to start to use R's MCMC abilities to compute answers in Bayesian statistics. I don't have any specific problems in mind yet, but I would like to be able to compute/sample posterior probabilities for low-dimensional custom models, as well as handle "standard" Bayesian cases like linear regression and hierarchical models. R clearly has a lot of abilities in

Support for Bayesian statistics in R
