Could not find lmer function in {Matrix} package
I am having trouble calling the lmer function in the {Matrix} package. I first installed and loaded {Matrix} as follows: > install.packages("Matrix") > library(Matrix) The package loaded successfully, however when I attempted to call lmer, I received the following message: Error: could not find function "lmer" I also tried: < ?lmer which produced no search

[LLVMdev] Proposal: New DAG node type for reciprocal operation
Sounds like a reasonable fit for a target-specific DAG combine. I suspect a target specific node wouldn't be necessary and the patterns could be matched directly. -Jim On Sep 20, 2012, at 3:26 PM, Weiming Zhao <weimingz at codeaurora.org> wrote: > Hi, > > In relaxed/fast math mode, if we can convert a/b to a * (1/b), we may get more performance when (1) “b” is loop

Reciprocal Update
If I run "rsync -ruv <local> <remote>" twice, no files are copied the second time - as expected. However, if I follow "rsync -ruv <local> <remote>" with "rsync -ruv <remote> <local>", all files are copied from <remote> to <local>. I suspect this is because the timestamps of <remote> files are of when they were

[LLVMdev] Proposal: New DAG node type for reciprocal operation
Hi, In relaxed/fast math mode, if we can convert a/b to a * (1/b), we may get more performance when (1) "b" is loop invariant or (2) arch has faster reciprocal instruction (e.g. recipe/recips on ARM) or (3) arch has no vector div, but has vector mul and recip. So ,with this node type, a div node can be converted to a mul and a recip when desired. Then, each arch can further

Reciprocal Mill's Ratio
I believe that this may be more appropriate here in r-devel than in r-help. The normal hazard function, or reciprocal Mill's Ratio, may be obtained in R as dnorm(z)/(1 - pnorm(z)) or, better, as dnorm(z)/pnorm(-z) for small values of z. The latter formula breaks dowm numerically for me (running R 2.4.1 under Windows XP 5.1 SP 2) for values of z near 37.4 or greater. Looking at the pnorm

Random structure of nested design in lme
All, I'm trying to analyze the results of a reciprocal transplant experiment using lme(). While I get the error-term right in aov(), in lme() it appears impossible to get as expected. I would be greatful for any help. My experiment aimed to identify whether two fixed factors (habitat type and soil type) affect the development of plants. I took soil from six random sites each of two types

system is computationally singular: reciprocal condition number
Hi folks, I know, this is a fairly common question and I am really disappointed that I could not find a solution. I am trying to calculate Mahanalobis distances in a data frame, where I have several hundreds groups and several hundreds of variables. Whatever I do, however I subset it I get the "system is computationally singular: reciprocal condition number" error. I know what it means

[LLVMdev] Proposal: New DAG node type for reciprocal operation
Yes, what I mean is a target independent node in the ISD::NodeType enum. I already did the node transformation DAGCombiner and target-specific lowering in the first place. It worked. But introducing a specific node will make the logic more clear. For example, in ARM, FDIV is a scalar operation. So, after DAGCombiner and Vector Type legalize, vectorized FDIV has been expanded into scalar versions,

Error: system is computationally singular: reciprocal condition number
I get this error while computing partial correlation. *Error in solve.default(Szz) : system is computationally singular: reciprocal condition number = 4.90109e-18* Why is it?Can anyone give me some idea ,how do i get rid it it? This is the function i use for calculating partial correlation. pcor.mat <- function(x,y,z,method="p",na.rm=T){ x <- c(x) y <- c(y)

Altivec, automake
good news, I finally got the asm compilation working with both autotools and project builder. it's all checked in. Brady, can you try it out too? autogen.sh may need a little tweaking depending on your environment. here's what mine looks like (I have some of the required libs in local places in the user acct that I build flac in, and the rest I get from Fink installed in /sw). aclocal

OK, checked it all in (only minor modifications: I used the existing FLAC routines for allocating aligned memory). on a side note, I got the Project Builder stuff all working again. still have to figure out how to integrate assembly compilation though. finished hooking up the altivec stuff so it works in ProjectBuilder. I ran a test, doing a 'flac -t' on 400MB of files compresses at level 5. the runtime dropped from from 180 sec to 105 sec! once I get the latest autotools on my ibook I'll try and get asm compilation to work that way. build problems (autoconf/libtool)
Hi. I want to add some code to flac and am having trouble building it out of cvs. I've had several problems, most of which were pretty easy to work around or had already been discussed here. But this one has me stumped (though I am admittedly new to autoconf, automake, and libtool). Here's the problem. autoconf does not see any definition for AC_PROG_LIBTOOL. There is such a

libFLAC internals
Howdy. I'm working on Altivec versions of some of the libFLAC functions. I figured the best candidates would be those that had MMX/SSE/3dnow versions, and I picked FLAC__lpc_restore_signal() to do first, since it's relatively simple. In stepping through some runs, it appears that 'order' mod 4 is always 0. Is that guaranteed, either by the format or by higher functions in the
