Ok, ok
I am a "one minute" perl expert now (sung to the tune of "I read the One

My first perl research and program called test.pl
use Net::DNS;
print Net::DNS->version, "\n";

noarch concerns? dangers?
Please share some wisdom from the list... :-)
Realistically there is some type of difference between an rpm made for an
arch (like i386 or x86_64 etc) vrs an rpm with noarch
I was just looking at and downloaded these two from dag
perl-Archive-Tar-1.30-1.el4.rf.noarch.rpm
perl-IO-Zlib-1.04-1.2.el4.rf.noarch.rpm
they are the latest and are not assigned to an architecture
there are older rpms of

best repo for perl-IO-Zlib perl-Archive-Tar
With all due respect to the various people, their hard work and associated
repos, where is the best place to do a yum install for these two packages
below in regards to an internet facing production Centos 4.4 server
perl-IO-Zlib
perl-Archive-Tar
I noticed dag and karan repos appear to have it and my experience and
research tells me that using CPAN is not an option for possible problems at

centos 3.3 to 4.x?
Greetings,
A friend of mine is running 3.3
He asked what I thought about going to 4.4
I imagine it is best to backup and fresh install and migrate old configs and
data
What is the wisdom on the list
I remember going from beta 3 to 3 a long time ago.
Anyone ever upgrade from 3.x to 4.x without problem and how so?
I didn't see a lot on the www other than some apt-get info
Thanks in

open source security daemon or script
Can someone please tell me what the name and or website of the open source
realtime daemon or script is that automatically puts ip addresses in the
hosts.deny file when servers are repeatedly probed for login/password pairs
on ftp ports etc please?
It was mentioned in the last year on this list if I remember right.
I had bookmarked at one time and I cant seem to web search or find it
otherwise.

Access to fw from only 1 specific IP on the internet
I''m a bit confused about the zones vs. rules regulatives.
Scenario:
I''m setting up an firewall for a friend with loc, net and dmz zones (and
ofcourse the firewall itself fw).
I need to be able to remotely administrate it, either through ssh or
webinterface, because of the physical distance.
lets asume my public IP at home is 80.80.80.80
Would it (if we focus on ssh connection

just having the same processor board with just the L2 cache in a centos
