Memory problem ... Again
Happy new year to all;
A few days ago, I posted similar problem. At that time, I found out that our
R program had been 32-bit compiled, not 64-bit compiled. So the R program
has been re-installed in 64-bit and run the same job, reading in 150
Affymetrix U133A v2 CEL files and perform dChip processing. However, the
memory problem happened again. Since the amount of physical memory is 64GB,

Configuration of memory usage
Hi, all;
I know there has been a lot of discussions on memory usage in R.
However, I have some odd situation here. Basically, I have a rare
opportunity to run R in a system with 64GB memory without any limit on
memory usage for any person or process. However, I encountered the memory
problem error message like this:
Error: cannot allocate vector of size 594075 Kb
I got this error message while

how to handle 'gwaa@gtdata' ?
I have a few questions about GenABEL, gwaa data.
1) is there a universal way that most GenABEL people use to add more
individuals into a 'gwaa' data? For example, I have a 'gwaa' data, but I
need to add some dummy parents, for 'gwaa at phdata', it's easy to add these
rows, but for 'gwaa at gtdata', I think I need to create SNP data as '0 0 0 0
0.....'

Speex inner_prod()
Hi,
Basically, inner_prod() can and should be adapted to the architecture it
will run on. It is not really sensitive to noise, so it's possible to
tweak it a lot. Also, in the current code, I saturate it to +-16384,
which is OK to prevent overflows. I'm not concerned with the case of a
constant -16384 value because it can't really happen in practice
(especially after filtering). BTW,

duplicate data
Hello,
I have a long list of x-, y- and z-data and try to generate a heatmap.
Obviously there are several data with identical x- and y-values. I get
the following error message:
Error in interp.old(x, y, z, xo = xo, yo = yo, ncp = 0, extrap = extrap, :
duplicate data points: need to set 'duplicate = ..'
Unfortunately there seems no help screen on "duplicate". I'd prefer

1.4.38 passing a Regular expression containing a pipe character to a macro ?
Howdy,
I'm working on a macro that authenticates the calling extension against a
list of allowed extensions but it looks like the Expression I'm attempting
to send of pipe separated extensions is showing up as additional arguments
to my macro.
I expected to have 4 arguments to the below macro, Instead it looks like I'm
actually getting 6.
I'm open to suggestions to other ways

Asterisk on SuSE 9.1?
I am trying to do my first asterisk install on a SuSE 9.1 box, using the
asterisk-update script mentioned a few days ago on this list.
I did read the 'quickstart' document on onlamp.com, and made sure the
following packages were installed via yast:
bison, cvs, gcc, kernel-source, libtermcap-devel, ncurses-devel,
newt-devel, openssl096b, and openssl-devel.
The SuSE 9.1 DVD contained

puppet: 3.1.1 -> 3.2.1 load increase
Hi,
I recently updated from puppet 3.1.1 to 3.2.1 and noticed quite a bit of
increased load on the puppetmaster machine. I''m using
the Apache/passenger/rack way of puppetmastering.
Main symptom is: higher load on puppetmaster machine (8 cores):
- 3.1.1: around 4
- 3.2.1: around 9-10
Any idea why there''s more load on the machine with 3.2.1?

SEM model fit
I wonder if someone could explain why, when I perform confirmatory
factor-analysis model using polychoric correlations why I do not get an
estimated confidence interval for the RMSEA. My experience with these type
models is that I would obtain a confidence interval estimate. I did not get
any warning messages with the output.
RESULTS:

[RFC] Interprocedural MIR-level outlining pass
Hi everyone,
Since I haven't said anything on the mailing list before, a quick
introduction. I'm an intern at Apple, and over the summer I implemented a
prototype for an outlining pass for code size in LLVM. Now I'm seeking to
eventually upstream it. I have the preliminary code on GitHub right now,
but it's still very prototypical (see the code section).

ROC from R-SVM?
*Hi,
*Does anyone know how can I show an *ROC curve for R-SVM*? I understand in
R-SVM we are not optimizing over SVM cost parameter. Any example ROC for
R-SVM code or guidance can be really useful.
Thanks, Angel.

Lyrics stored in .ogg files?
Hi,
I've heard somewhere that it is possible to store inside .ogg files text
streams and thus it should be possible to store lyrics for the sond
directly in the file. Is it true? Could anybody point me towards some code
how to do it (Python preferable, but not required)? Is there any
documentation for text streams in .ogg files?
Thanks for any reply,
Mat?j

[RFC] Interprocedural MIR-level outlining pass
I think the "Motivation" section explained that. I too first thought about
"why not at IR?" but the reason looks like MIR, post-RA has the most
accurate heuristics (best way to know looks like actually getting there).
Do you know if there is any experimental pass that relies on deriving
heuristics by a feedback loop after letting, ie. a duplicate
module/function/block continue
