Boxplot position on X-axis relative to it's value
Dear R-Experts.
I collected different datas about Nitrogen content (mg/ml) in Dung. The dung was eighter fresh (day=0) or had different ages (15,29,47) to observe nutrient changes over time.
Now I like to draw a boxplot.
boxplot(nmgml~day)
abline((nmgml~day)
The Problem is, that the boxplot considers the day values as groups and not as time series (neighter when the days are numeric or

Could not set file on ensure: undefined method `[]'' for nil:NilClass
Hi,
I had a working puppet setup using version 0.22 until the ruby security
patch bit me. I tried upgrading server and clients to 0.24.1 however my
old manifests don''t seem to work anymore. When I run puppetd on the
client I see lots of messages like:
err: //Node[waterbuck]/yumupdater/Remotefile[/etc/cron.hourly/yumupdater]/File[/etc/cron.hourly/yumupdater]/ensure: change from absent

R - box design-scatter plot für means/regression/lme?
Dear All!
It's now weeks that I'm going crazy with R, and as I'm a new user I now ask for help (also because I still have only a few days to finish..)...
So shortly I describe you my Experiment in which I was looking for the decomposition of herbivore dung under different treatments:
I made a box design experiment which is structured in the following way:
I collected dung from 2

compare results of glms
dear list!
i have run several glm analysises to estimate a mean rate of dung decay
for independent trials. i would like to compare these results
statistically but can't find any solution. the glm calls are:
dung.glm1<-glm(STATE~DAYS, data=o_cov, family="binomial(link="logit"))
dung.glm2<-glm(STATE~DAYS, data=o_cov_T12, family="binomial(link="logit"))

Is it good for agent forwarding to creates socket in /tmp/
Hi Alexander Wuerstlein
Thank for the information.
Now I agree that it's better to save the socket in /tmp/
I checked the source code and found that it is hard-coded.
/* Allocate a buffer for the socket name, and format the name. */
auth_sock_dir = xstrdup("/tmp/ssh-XXXXXXXXXX");
It would be nice if openssh provides an option to overwrite this default.

Doubts about mixed effect models
Hi everyone!
I have some doubts about mixed effect models and I hope someone could help
me. I´m trying to analyze a dataset coming from samples of dung beetles in
the same forest fragments along 3 consecutive years (1994, 1995 and 1996)
and 14 years after (2010). I sampled dung beetles in 18 different fragments
with different sizes and different degrees of isolation. My aim is to

Problem about samba3 on freebsd, with smbldap-tools [solved]
Hi
I have figured out what went wrong.
I have previously complied samba without ldap support.
There are tdb files in /var/db/samba.
I have just uninstall samba and
remove all tdb files (this instruction was given when run make
deinstall in the samba3 ports, but I didn't follow it before).
I did a fresh recompile with ldap support and now the problem is gone.
Thanks
Patrick

Is it good for agent forwarding to creates socket in /tmp/
Hi
After logging in to a remote server with ForwardAgent enabled, sshd on the
remote server creates a socket at /tmp/ and permission is 0755/srwxr-xr-x.
What is the reason to allow everyone to read this socket?
Also, is it better to save this socket in /home/user/.ssh/?
Best Regards

Forum software is rubbish.
Hi,
I just tried to register for the wine forum, and noticed several
really annoying things about the process:
1. The "Register" link is kind of hard to find. Normally it is just
next to the "Forgot password" link.
2. No SSL.
3. You emailed me my password! Argh! This is a terrible idea for
obvious reasons, and also implies:
4. Passwords aren't stored hashed. Seriously.

Can't read/write to _nonfi
Good afternoon,
Hope you all have a wonderful day. I am glad to be here. Hope you could
help me with the following errors that i have been trying to figure it all
out since last week.
I am using Splus from Insightful, and as i read, R and Splus are very
similar. So hope you could help me.
I have been continously received these error messages after i ran my small

Fitting a choice model (Bradley-Terry generalization)
I have some data I would like to model which involves choice of food by
dung beetles.
There are a number of experiments where in each case, there are five
choices. Overall there are more than 5 different foods being compared
(including a placebo) and different experiments use different comparisons.
The problem is a generalization of Bradley-Terry but it differs from
some generalizations in

drop dead fix
Hello list,
I am about to have to dump Asterisk in favor of some other
VOIP/PBX solution; the reason? I have 304 voice prompts recorded as 22Khz
wav format files that sound like crumpling paper whenever I convert them to
the 8Khz wav/gsm format required by Asterisk. I was considering trying the
G.729 codec, but reading through the specs, I see that the 8Khz conversion
is going to

Multiple CHOLMOD errors when attempting poisson glmm

I have been attempting to run a poisson glmm using lme4 for some time now

Gluster Community Congratulates OpenStack Developers on Havana Release
The Gluster Community would like to congratulate the OpenStack Foundation and developers on the Havana release. With performance-boosting enhancements for OpenStack Block Storage (Cinder), Compute (Nova) and Image Service (Glance), as well as a native template language for OpenStack Orchestration (Heat), the OpenStack Havana release points the way to continued momentum for the OpenStack community.

How to calculate percentage variation in a zero-inflated negative binomial regression model
I am a novice in R but using R 2.13.1 in Windows I wish to be able to
calculate the percentage variation in a
zero-inflated negative binomial regression model that is explained by the
two predictors in my model. My response variable was no. of dung-piles per
km and the predictor of excess zeros was distance to major road (km) .
Thanks in advance.

Help Preparing Data for Heatmap creation
All -
Below are samples of the data, a description of my approach and the
work I've done so far. My goal is two-fold, first learn more about R
and the creation of heatmaps; second, to create a heat map where the
vertical access is a series of days and the horizontal is the hour of
a day with the color of the cells being determined by the number of
texts in that hour. While the project

replicated time series - lme?
Dear R-helpers,
I have a time series analysis problem in R:
I want to analyse the output of my simulation model which is proportional
cover of shrubs in a savanna plot for each of 500 successive years. I have
run the model (which includes stochasticity, especially in the initial
conditions) 17 times generating 17 time series of shrub cover.
I am interested in a possible periodicity of shrub

ecosystems are arranged in the same group.

How to create polygons representing sampled forest plots, and how to compute D1 matrix between these polygons ?
Hi everyone,
I am facing a problem I really do not know how to resolve about detecting
significant spatial structures in a region I am studying.
The study is about the Miombo forest (wooded savanna). I am working in a 10
ha permanent forest plot, where all trees are mapped and identified. I
sampled 24 more or less regulately scattered plots of 25 x 25 m over the 10
ha. In each plot of 25 x 25 m
