tyring to save plots using windoze 7 and cygwin
Hi,
I'd been using R in the past and recently installed it on a new windoze 7 machine.
There have been many issues with compatibility and 32/64 bit apps etc and I did
find on google on isolated complaint that saveplot failed in scripts a long time ago.
R seems to work fine except script-based plot saving as pdf has not worked.
I have tried the following, none of which seem to function,

savePlot() no longer automatically adds an extension to the filename.
Plaintive squeak: Why the change?
Some OS's and desktops use the extension, so forgetting it causes
trouble. The new default filename keeps a filetype (as before) but the
user now has to type a filetype twice (once as the type, once as
extension) to get the same effect fo rtheir own filenames. And the
extension isn't then checked for consistency with valid file types, so
it can be

probleme with savePlot (to eps)
Hi the list,
I used savePlot to export some eps graph but it seems that the graph
file hold a bug. I include the graph.eps in a LaTeX file. Running latex
is ok. But the dvi file contain some mistake, the graph overprint on
some text and hide it. Then, when I try to convert it to another format,
I get :

savePlot with % in character string
This occurred after I installed R x64 2.13.1 on Windows:
savePlot("95%.winners.wmf")
saves the file as:
"951nners.wmf"
Is this the correct behavior, or have I bungled something?

Usando R CMD BATCH no me funciona savePlot()
Buenas tardes:
Hasta ahora he utilizado savePlot() en ejecuciones de R en Windows, donde lo
que hago es grabar la ventana de gráficos mediante dev.cur() en formato pdf.
Concretamente éste es el código:
> savePlot(filename = ruta_pdf, type = "pdf", device = dev.cur(),
restoreConsole = TRUE)
Este comando está dentro de un bucle de "n" ejecuciones, por lo que guardo

Saving plots to file
Appologies if this has been addressed before, but I can't seem to find it in
the help archives.
I'm looking to do something like the following but it looks like save.plot
is deprecated.
save.plot(plot(glm1$residuals,gain,main = "Hist of residuals and
gain"),file="Desktop/hist1.png")
Thanks in advance,
Sean

panel.text and saving to pdf
Dear all,
I am not sure what I am doing wrong, but I have some unexplained behaviour when saving a lattice graph including text to a pdf file. The text seems to move around. It must have something to do with the way coordinates are set in devices other than jpg.
Any suggestions would be helpful

How to save graphics in portable way in batch mode?
Hi all,
What is the right portable way to save graphics
in batch mode?
Remarks:
1. Problem is STFWed and RTFMed. In particular a short note
about png() is found in R-FAQ. In fact, there were stated
that png() is not reliable under Linux in batch mode.
2. savePlot under windows is quite convenient, but
not supplied under Linux.
3. pdf() + postscript() < savePlot()

plot pdf
I want to plot the unstadardized version of a normal plot. Can you explain why that is not working?
Dev.set(1)
xcrit=-1.645
cord.x <- c(-3,seq(-3,xcrit,0.01),xcrit)
cord.y <- c(0,dnorm(seq(-3,xcrit,0.01)),0) # what does final 0 do here?
curve(dnorm(x,0,1),xlim=c(-3,3),main='Normal PDF')
polygon(cord.x,cord.y,col='orange')

R 2.7.0: pdf() > pdf.options versus formals
Hi,
I have a tiny question about the graphics change in R 2.7.0.
If I write a script ? la:
options(device="pdf")
formals(pdf)[c("file","onefile","width","height")] <- list("~/Rplot
%03d.pdf", FALSE, 8, 8)
plot(3)
plot(4)
both plots will be written into ONE pdf file. (not two as expected)
This worked fine under 2.6.x
In R 2.7.0 I

Saving multiple plots named with part of the original file name
Hello All,
I am trying to open all files within a folder and create multiple histograms
from each file, *and* have it save with the original file name plus some new
information. The way I have it set up right now, I keep saving over each new
graph. I can turn the history on and see them all, but I want them all to
save as unique files as well. Idealy they would be "filename CHN 1mm Length

Can anyone please help me with getting a "single title" and "legend" for
both the plots in the following R code. I'll eventually be using .wmf file.

Trying to save both an rgl plot and a bar plot errors
Hello,
I am basically using a script that is designed to first create an rgl 3d scatter plot followed by a barplot on the same data. After this is done, the program is to first save the barplot as a .tiff file then to save the rgl 3d graph as a .png file. Once this is done, it is to repeat this 3d plot and barplot combo with saving 49 more times. The plotting script excerpt will be posted at the

Invalid device number in savePlot
Hi,
I recently encountered an error using the command "savePlot" when trying to
save the third of 3 open graph windows. After successfully saving and
closing the first two windows I receive an "Invalid device number in
savePlot" error. The following is copied and pasted from an example session
to illustrate the behaviour:
> windows()
> hist(rnorm(100))

Display list redraw incomplete when exporting plots
I was just wondering if anyone knows what could be the problem with my
exporting of plots.
Below is the error messages I get when trying to export my plots (all error
messages at the same time).
I do get a file produced which works but I don't know why these messages
appear. Doesn't matter if it is a pdf or a png or any other format I export
to.
Also, when exporting to png I get

Saved EPS does not match screen when using bquote(.(i))
Here's a fairly minimal-case example in which the saved EPS does not match
the screen. The error comes when using bquote(.(i)) instead of bquote(1), as
demonstrated by the two minimally different cases below. Very strange. Any
clues as to why?

savePlot for Mac and / or Linux?
Hi all,
In the package rtlu, I use the function savePlot. It is convenient since
it let the user decide in which graphic format he wants his graph to be
export.
But when I run R CMD check, I get the following message :
> rtlu(V1,fileOutput="First.tex",textBefore="\\section{Variable 1 to
3}",graphName="V1")
