Mapa de quantiles con spplot
Hola, no me funciona:
Te contesto lo mismo que le contesté a otro compañero de la lista, espero ser más claro.
Les comparto la carpeta con la capa y los datos que estoy usando.

Mapa de quantiles con spplot
Hola,
Intento representar en un mapa participaciones porcentuales de los sectores económicos y no logro hacerlo con spplot.
He intentado con spplot(zm, c(?part88?, ?part93?), cuts=4, col.regions=brewer.pal(4, ?Set3?))
Lo pude hacer utilizando el base graphics de R, definiendo:
> plotvar88 <- zm$part88
> nclr <- 8
> plotclr <- brewer.pal(nclr, "PuOr")
> plotclr

Mapa de quantiles con spplot
Hola,
El problema con la propuesta de Olivier es que los intervalos son
diferentes para cada variable.
La forma sencilla y rápida es:
spplot(zm["part88"], col.regions=plotclr, at=class$brks)

Saludos

Help formating data to display commas
I'm using the following code to create quartile intervals of my dataset and it is working like it is suppose too. In my final output of the data I would like currency amounts to be displayed with commas. I have not found an option either through FormatC or sprintf that will display the data with commas, they only seem to add decimals. Is there a format that will display commas without me

Color Alaska in USA map
Hello:
I have a problem when I tried to color the USA map with different colors. The following is my data (I only used the second column of data):
alaska, 1, 2
Hawaii, 0, 0
USA, 5, 5
And here is my code:
library("latticeExtra")
library("mapproj")
state<-read.table("C:\\usaclass.txt",sep=",")

Introduction to maps (of Denmark)?
Dear R-listers,
I am using R for Windows Vista 64-bit. I have no experience working with
maps, but now I have to plot a map of Denmark in which each Danish
county is color-coded according to its incidence rate of a particular
disease. My problem is that I don't know where to start. I have read the
help files to packages like 'mapplot', and their examples indicate that

need help formating plot axis to standard dollar formats
I create a lot of plots with a dollar amount as the y-axis. How do I change the formatting so comma and $ are in place. Like $1000,000 or to use common dollar abbreviations like 100K?

Need help creating multiple datasets using loops or vectorization
I am trying to create multiple dataset by group like the following using either a loop or vectorization:

vocallGp2<-subset(vocallsub, Group==2)
vocallGp3<-subset(vocallsub, Group==3)
vocallGp4<-subset(vocallsub, Group==4)

Supressing Scientific Notation
I'm trying to display my deciles without scientific notation, but have not found an option that will allow me to do so. According to web searches, the options(scipen=999) should remove scientific notation, but it seems not too. Does this option work with quantcut function? Is there any other option that can be used? I am using verison 2.10.0.

option for multi thread or multi core machines
I notice that R basic installation does not take advantage of multi-thread or multi-core processors. Is there an option for multi-threaded processors? I currently run all of my analysis on thinkpad laptop and most processing is very quick, however, when I run stepAIC with interaction terms it can take a couple of hours to complete. I have tried running the same process and a quad core machine 64

help overlay scatterplot to effects plot
I have a process where I am creating a effects plot similar to the cowles effect example. I would like to add the point estimates to the effects plot, can someone show me the correct syntax. I have included the "R" effects example, so you can show me the correct syntax. Thanks

r-help lattice adepts:
I have a question which is somewhat geospatial, so I posted to r-sig-geo

Maps in R
Is there a way to generate maps in R. Specifically, I have calculated
estimates of intra-regional inequality for US states, and would like to
project that information onto a map.
Thanks,

animated grid graphics
I need to make a fairly complex animated graphic and decided to use grid for it.
A very simple example of what I need:
##==============================================================================
library(grid)
grid.newpage()
pushViewport(plotViewport())
pushViewport(viewport(xscale = extendrange(c(0, 100)),
yscale = extendrange(c(0, 100))))
grid.xaxis()
grid.yaxis()

seq range argument
Hello dear developers,
I find myself often having the result of "range" oder "extendrange", which I want to create a sequence with.
But "seq" needs two seperate arguments "from" and "two".
Could an argument "range" be added?
Otherwise I will have to create an object with the range (may come from a longer calculation), index twice from

extendrange(): suggested improvement
Hi,
I often need to extend the plot range to the right, but not to the
left (for example: not below 0 so that log = "x" still works...). This
could be a handy improvement of extendrange():

lattice: index plot
Dear all,
How can I make an index plot with lattice, that is plotting a vector
simply against its particular index in the vector, i.e. something
similar to
y <- rnorm(10)
plot(y)
I don't want to specify the x's manually, as this could become
cumbersome when having multiple panels.
I tried something like
library(lattice)
mp <- function(x, y, ...) {
x <- 1:length(y)

buglet in curve?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Symptoms: curve with log x axis gets the wrong
x limits (in 2.6.1, I believe introduced in this version).
Credit goes to Mike McCoy for detecting the problem.
Demonstration:
x = 1:5
plot(x,5*exp(-x),xlim=c(0.1,1000),log="x")
xvec = 10^seq(-1,3,length=100)
lines(xvec,5*exp(-xvec))
curve(5*exp(-x),add=TRUE,col=2,lwd=3)

Shrink Trellis margins settings (when printed to png file)
Dear R-experts,
I have two problems:
PROBLEM (1)
-----------
I want to produce a very small png file (35 x 18 px) that contains a
histogram without a figure region or margins, only the pure heights.
In the base graphic system this is simple:
png(filename = "hist.png", res = 72, width=35, height=18)
par(mar=c(0,0,0,0), oma=c(0,0,0,0))
hist(rnorm(100),
